lol, yeah I had a sneaking suspicion that the mouse control would be wonky. It works pretty good in the stand alone though, just have to tweak it and not try and move the mouse too quickly.

It just got released a couple of days ago. Yeah RA does have mouse support and works great in systems like the Genesis, but I didn't test it in the Mednafen Saturn core. I know it's an option but so is analog controls Let me know if it works for you though.

I guess I will be the first to post here. I am looking for a Conkers Bad Furday instruction booklet for the N64. I have the cart and box, I just need the booklet to complete it. It generally goes for around 30$ on Ebay but people generally want an extra 20$ just for shipping on a booklet which is ridiculous. The second item I am looking for is the box insert or the clamshell and insert for Musha for the Sega Genesis. I do not need the cart or instructions since I already have them. I really want this to be in perfect or very near perfect shape since my cart and booklet are in immaculate condition. I know this is going to be a tough find but I am willing to pay a fair price for it. Either post here or send me a private message if you have either of these for sale.

As some of you may or may not be aware of Policenauts for the Sega Saturn has recently gotten an English translation. If you do not know what Policenauts is go look it up but basically it is a graphic adventure game made by Hideo Kojima and it is amazing. This game supported the lightgun and mouse controls on real hardware. SSF and the stand alone version of Mednafen supports mouse controls as well. Not sure if Retroarch supports mouse controls in their Mednafen core yet or not but since it doesn't even support analog controls I assume not at the point of me writing this. I do not use SSF anymore so if you wish to use that emulator and mouse controls you are on your own to sort it out. However I did some fiddling around with the stand alone version of Mednafens mouse controls today and it works pretty good but you do need to adjust the mouse sensitivity or else it is very slow. There is not going to be a 100% one setting works for everyone in this so there will need to be some personal tinkering to find what works best for you and your mouse but here is how you get the mouse working. You can either edit the mednafen-09x.cfg file and change values in there or you can launch games using a command line parameter which is the way I prefer to do it with the stand alone version. Now my whole command line parameter is pretty long but the 2 settings you need to look at are: -ss.input.port1 mouse -ss.input.mouse_sensitivity 1.75 The first one sets the mouse as your controller and the second one obviously is the sensitivity. These same settings can be found in the config file as well if you want to dig around in there. The default sensitivity is set to 0.50 which is really slow and for me I found 1.75 to be a pretty good sweet spot. I tried it at 2 but it was too fast and jumpy. I found this post over on the Mednafen forums with some info on mouse sensitivity http://forum.fobby.net/index.php?t=msg&th=1362&start=0& "There aren't any enforced range limits for those, beyond the limits of the underlying floating-point types. For the mouse sensitivity settings, a reasonable upper limit would be (4 * default), and a reasonable lower limit would be (default / 4)."

Can you post a screen shot of the core options ? There are audio settings in there as well that could be off.

Just hit "Enter" and then press and hold "Select" then while its held press "Start".

You can always set it up in Mame itself. Bring up the Mame menu with the "Tab" key and then Input General > User Interface > UI Cancel. You can bind multiple keys or key combos to close out Mame.

These builds will contain experimental features and changes designed to give the absolute fastest builds with the most features combined into one download! Since these releases are official, unlike other random builds you might find on the internet, there is no chance that they will contain a virus, or anything else that can potentially be harmful. Because updates will come at a rapid pace and there is a chance of these changes adversely affecting emulation, the builds will let you know when a newer version is available and auto-update if you allow it. You can download the bleeding edge development builds at our downloads page right now! While Windows is the only operating system targeted at this time, the other operating systems will follow shortly. While these builds aren't technically supported, they can be extremely useful for catching regressions and other issues from the various experimental features rolled into them. If you experience a bug, please make sure that the latest nightly builds do not have the issue before reporting it.

It's hard to say just how similar it is but if you have BizHawk look in the about panel of the UI and it shows the emulator cores and what they are based on or their own. Mednafens Wiki page has the info on its cores and shows which are their own code and which are based on others https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mednafen

If you like the default auto control config Retroarch controller set up is obviously easier but if you want to change it it can be confusing at first. I'm not sure how many of BizHawks "cores" are written by the BizHawk team or how heavily modified by them there are but it seems that most of the cores are just based off the same emulation code so the differences in emulation is probably very little. Looking at it from the outside like I am it seems like there is a certain amount of overlap in cores and code. Obviously Retroarch uses code based on other emulators. BizHawk appears to have some of some of its cores based off the same code while some of its cores are their own. Mednafen also has cores which are in some cases based off other emulators code while some of it is their own

BizHawk is indeed very nice and I would consider using it if it had the same shader support as Retroarch. It is also much more straight forward in setting up due to it's UI over Retroarch but once you get used to Retroarch's UI it isn't so bad.

The simplest systems to start with is the Snes, Genesis and Turbo Grafx 16 because they don't use bios files. For Colecovision I use a stand alone version of Mess, I never tried it with Retroarch, RA my want bios files.

Ahh ok. Well you don't need to have separate installs to begin with. If you are having troubles with certain systems, first make sure you have the cores downloaded. Second, make sure you have the correct bios files for those systems in the \Retroarch\system\ folder. You will have to find bios yourself, we cannot help you get those unfortunately. Third make sure your command line parameters are setup properly in the emulator settings window. Stretched video is taken care of by settings in the video section, if you want stretched the aspect ratio will be set to 16:9, if you want the proper aspect ratio set it to 4:3 or core provided. For Snes cores which one you use will depend a bit upon your system and what it can handle but I would recommend either Snes9x or BSnes Balanced Mercury to start with. For arcade stuff I recommend sticking to a stand alone version of Mame and not using the Retroarch Mame core. FBA is fine if you want to use it for NeoGeo but it's no better or worse than Mame.

Huh, i'm confused. Are you actually bothering to have Retroarch scan your roms for use within the RA UI ?

Well like I said above, if you are using Retroarch you need to match the dll name with the one you have downloaded or download a core and make sure the name matches up.

Just change the dll file name in the command line parameter to match the systems you want to emulate and if you don't have the core for a system you want to emulate you need to get the core. So for example for the Atari 7800 change the command line parameter to: -L "cores\prosystem_libretro.dll" And if you want to use Retroarch to emulate the Sega Genesis you need to download the genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll core.

Yeah certain platforms default to other emulators which needs a major update.

Make sure that the command line parameters are using the same cores that you have downloaded and are in your \Retroarch\cores\ folder.

Interesting. I don't ever use any command parameters, I just set everything in the ini file like skip_gameinfo setting it to 1.

Here's my Mame settings in LB, I don't have any command line parameters since all my settings like skip info is done in the mame.ini Ignore the -nn in the Mame executable, that's just my no nag exe.

NeoGeo should be easy to get working but other consoles like the CD-i are trickier. I use a stand alone Mess for stuff like that.
