  1. Good question. If a date is defined in LB for a platform, that date is used. If not defined for a platform, or if dealing with a platform category or playlist, the plugin tries to figure out a suitable year by scanning the platforms and/or games and choosing the earliest date. I thought it'd be nice to always include a year when possible. If you find a case where it's not working correctly, please let me know and I'll have a look. For playlists where no year is displayed, do the games not have a year defined?
  2. Thanks, Jason. Feel better soon. Remember it's okay to take a break!
  3. Here's a version with the couch a little higher to fit into the scene better (I think). Also attached is the PNG if you want to try it; rename to @ZDEFAULT.png and copy into the Categories and Platforms subfolders of AVLF. Phew I'm gonna crash now. Let me know what y'all think. @Retro808: I'll try to leverage viking's category videos in keeping with the theme; we'll see how it goes. EDIT: To apply the PNG, you'll also need to make a change to the @INDEX files in the Categories and Platforms folders, to account for the different video position within the background image. @ZDEFAULT.png |#| 0.473,0.104,0.040,0.409 |#| DEFAULT |#| DEFAULT
  4. Hmm, that's odd. I've not noticed that on my setup, but VLC is crashing a lot more lately with recent BB betas. I might let the dust settle on the beta issues. I switched over to WMP for now, too. I made a note of this issue and will investigate. Thanks for the report!
  5. Created a new default background for categories and playlists. I used viking's bg for movies/kodi as the starting point. I think it looks okay but wonder if it's missing something. Maybe some ambient lighting or some other deco? If someone with more ps/gimp skills than me wants to step up and make it better, have at it! GIMP file: Nostalgia-BG-TV-Samsung.xcf
  6. Yes, look in Styles\Nostalgia.xaml -- you can edit the styles of most UI elements there. I think I used Aqua for the clock and vertical year placard.
  7. Gotcha. A simple plugin control should get the job done without having to copy the theme. I'll take a crack at it.
  8. Thanks, R. For which view are you trying to change the background? Perhaps you could upload a screenshot?
  9. Just posted an update v0.99 -- please see changelog on download page. Thanks for all the bug reports, troubleshooting, and ideas. Keep 'em coming.
  10. Thanks, Omen. At least we've isolated it to VLC. Is it occurring less frequently since we disabled HW encoding?
  11. Depending on the theme, you cannot just put it in a different-named folder and have it work. The theme might be looking for files in the original folder.
  12. Thanks! I'll include a fix in the next release. I've tackled most of the issues already.
  13. @Porl Hendy: Found a solution for this -- just renamed the assembly to Ao.Bigbox.Themer.v3_0 (included versioning in the name) on compiling, then updated the refs in XAML files. Poof, these conflicts are gone at least in my testing. I'll include this fix in the next release. Thanks again for bringing this issue to the forefront, as it needed to be promptly addressed.
  14. Double post. Thanks for that @Retro808 we just entered an endless loop.
  15. I know crazy right? Think I just fell into a rabbit hole. @dewe64y must be using viking's Atari 7800 platform video from which I derived the overlay image.
  16. That's great! I'm glad it's fixed. Picture 1: I don't see a problem. Would you please explain? Picture 2: It uses Atari G42 machine for Atari Classics, because that's the closest background I have. There is no "Atari Classics" background in the viking set. Picture 3: It's not using the Capcom Play System III background because it expects the platform to be named "Capcom Playsystem III" not "Capcom Play System 3". Look at the @INDEX file in the Nostalgia\Views\AVLF\Platforms folder. You will see how each platform is mapped to an image. To fix this problem on your setup, you could either add "Capcom Play System 3" to the fourth column of this file (under the ALT NAME heading), or you could rename your platform in LaunchBox to "Capcom Play System III". Either way should fix this problem.
  17. No worries @neil9000 I have zero problems with that. Your posts are always helpful. And the thread belongs to all of us anyways.
  18. Thanks Neil. @GreenGriffon: I'm always adding new backgrounds from viking's work. If it's not there, I can add 3DO to the next update.
  19. Thanks for the report. It's because CZ/CH and Nostalgia use different versions of the Ao.Bigbox.Themer assembly. It's not a problem with the new hotkey to switch themes; it will also happen if you switch themes the old way. I'll have to think about possible solutions for this; perhaps different assembly versions can be specified in the XAML or something? I'll shoot this over to @Jason Carrin case he has some thoughts on such assembly conflicts between themes.
  20. Yes, I'm sure that's why (missing file type in the .dll). My WMP cannot play webm files. Did you have to install a codec to play them? Regardless, I can just allow the library to try and load these files. It should work as long as the video player supports the format.
  21. The @INDEX files allow for an alternate name. So, the Platforms\@INDEX file should link both "SNK NeoGeo MVS" and "SNK Neo Geo MVS" to the same image "SNK NeoGeo MVS.png". The name of the image does not matter. The DEFAULT column contains the name as I think would be the LB default. The ALT column contains an alternate name that I suspect some users would like. I like SNK NeoGeo and Nintendo SNES, for example. So, the @INDEX file as setup should have worked for you. Perhaps there's a bug here? You should still see static in the screen of the platform hardware. Is that distracting? I did replace the full screen static with the Now Loading transition screen based on feedback by @Omen, and I do think it looks nicer now. Anything you think we should change?
  22. I don't think it'd need a LB reinstall. Please make sure you downloaded the new version of Nostalgia 0.98a. Remove the old Nostalgia folder from LaunchBox\Themes and place the new version there, then restart LB. If still it does not work, then replace Ao.Bigbox.Themer.dll in Nostalgia\Plugins with this one: Ao.Bigbox.Themer.dll Please let me know the results. We'll figure this out. It is a localization problem, I know it. I can reproduce it on my system here in the US if I force it to localize to French.
  23. While I'm fond of the wheel, I do like the idea of an optional text list. There is only one view each with built-in support for platform and game text lists, and I'd rather not re-purpose those views for this idea. To implement your suggestion, I'll probably have to create another custom plugin control (to act as the list) but it should be possible. I'll add it to my tasks and give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion!
  24. @Omen: I've not yet include those backgrounds you made, but I certainly will. Thanks again.
  25. Just posted an update, v0.98a -- see What's New on the download page for details. @Omen, @Retro808: Disabled VLC HW encoding which is what I think is causing the crashes. I don't think HW encoding is really needed anyway (it's turned off by default in VLC). Please test this updated version with VLC and see if you see any of those crashes. @Omen: Changed screen transitions from static to a "Now Loading..." screen. I also tightened up the transitions when using the wheel to make selections. It's much smoother now, imo. Let me know what you think. P.s. transitions are needed due to required load times, and to help avoid abrupt "pop in" of elements. @neil9000: Your playlist fix is in the new release, of course! Thanks again for helping me fix it. I think that was the same problem y'all reported, @Retro808 and @Maul83. @dewe64y: Pretty sure I fixed that alignment bug, but please verify on your setup.
