  1. Hey Omen. You mean the Favorites and/or Recent games controls? Edit: Similar to the text-based view as such:
  2. Thanks, glad you like it. Yes, Futurestate is great. Would you please be more specific? I don't see that in Futurestate's Platform 1&3 views (@Hexxxer), but I see something like that in his Game Wheel 4 view. In Nostalgia, the platform or game wheel fades out after a few seconds of inactivity to reveal the game details; screenshots:
  3. Sounds great. It'd be great to fix the plugin and would also be cool with me if you wanted to integrate any of it into Big Box. I'll pm the source later this week.
  4. The version I provided Cid is not public; I had just emailed it to him for testing. I wish it was as simple as updating, but I think @CriticalCid also noted freezes in the newer version I sent him. I'll go ahead and update Nostalgia tonight, which will contain the new version of the plugin in case anyone wants to test. I'll run Nostalgia in attract mode for awhile to see if it freezes.
  5. When a freeze occurs, anything specific in the error message? Does the system get sluggish before freezing? Does the problem only exist with VLC? Thanks to Cid's help I did find a bad memory leak in Ao.Bigbox.Themer related to VLC. I had fixed it and sent Cid a new version for testing, but I presume that new version is also freezing?
  6. BTW, I'd also recommend a backup outside the nas. I backup weekly to another Linux box via rsync. 5 yrs ago, I was almost burned by a hard drive failure. Luckily, I salvaged the family photos etc. I built a more robust solution since then, and FreeNAS is part of that.
  7. Look into FreeNAS. I've been using it for the past 4 years and it's been very reliable.
  8. This is probably due to how LB creates those Arcade playlists. I don't currently use Mame so didn't notice that. Would you please pm me your Launchbox\Data folder? That might provide some clues I can use to fix it. If that doesn't pan out, I'll try to setup Mame for further debugging.
  9. Do you notice it with different BigBox themes?
  10. Uploaded beta6 to fix that problem. Long live beta6! (hopefully longer than 5)
  11. If you view the "Arcade" platform itself, are the boxes still missing? Does it occur consistently or only for some games?
  12. @Zanak, @neil9000: Thanks for reporting that bug. Good thing I left it as a beta! I assumed the Background folder would always be there, but looks like it's not created unless background music is enabled in Bigbox. I just need to add a check in the code, and that's an easy fix. I'll post the fix when I'm back home later today. In the meantime, creating an empty Background folder in LaunchBox\Music should allow the theme to work.
  13. Updated to v1.0-beta5, probably the last beta. Along the way, I did a bit of code refactoring and hopefully didn't break anything. @Omen, @neil9000, @davemk, @CDBlue, @ReaperZer0 -- addressed those issues you raised. Thanks again for the feedback!
  14. @neil9000 are you still getting this error with the update I pm'd last week?
  15. @alnyden, @CDBlue, @davemk: Yes I agree it's not a theme-specific problem. When debugging Nostalgia, I switched to the Default view to see how those sound/volume options should work, and the Default view also has problems. I do have a fix in Nostalgia that circumvents this problem (have not yet posted the update), but yes it will affect most if not all themes.
  16. I don't know about Windows 10, but with 7 you can automatically login to an account at startup, and that account can start BigBox when logged into. So, I just turn on the computer and BigBox starts up. It's very easy to setup and no messing with the registry. I imagine you can do something similar in Windows 10.
  17. @davemk, @CDBlue: As @Retro808 and @shinra358 suggested, it's a problem with the Nostalgia theme. I've already looked into it and am working out a solution. I'll post an updated version of the theme once I have a fix for y'all to test. Please direct any further comments about this to the Nostalgia support thread. Thanks for reporting the problem.
  18. Thanks, I really appreciate that. Yes, it happens for both VLC/WMP. The plugin crunches on data in LB to support some of the theme elements, and it was doing this for all platforms, categories, and playlists at once. I'm trying a less aggressive approach and will see if that fixes the issue for y'all. I can't reproduce the issue on my setup, so I'll send y'all an updated version for testing when it's done.
  19. Thanks @Robbyd78. Think I found the problem and working on a solution. I'll send a test version to you, @Omen, and @neil9000 possibly today.
  20. Updated v1.0-beta4, please see download page for changelog. @Omen: Added a config parameter to maintain video aspect ratios. It's off by default, but look in Nostalgia.xaml for AspectRatioPreserved and set that flag to True. Please try and out and let me know what you think. @ReaperZer0: Added some platforms for you. I ran out of steam before I finished them all, but I'll keep them on my list of things to do. Thanks for the suggestions. P.s. Think we're getting close to making the v1 release "official". Let me know if you spot any bugs. @Omen and @neil9000: I'll pm you about that slowdown y'all noticed so we can work on that before the release.
  21. @ReaperZer0 Sure I can get to those. Glad you like the theme. @Klopjero Thanks, that's exactly what I use for the source material. Viking gave me permission, so I turn his videos into stills with a cropped out screen and screen glass effects. He created about 250 background videos. I've already included the most common systems in the theme, and I'll add more as requested. It takes time to crop the screen etc, so I didn't just do them all up front.
  22. It's not a bug but is rather due to how your copy of BB is currently configured. I replied in the Minimal-AO thread. Please let me know in that thread if you need further assistance. Sorry to hear your foray into themes started out with some difficulty. There are many excellent themes out there, and I encourage you to keep checking them out.
  23. @neil9000 @Omen: Thanks for the feedback. I'm not seeing that problem on my system, but your posts help narrow down where I should look. Does it occur with WMP or VLC, or both? PS please try out VLC in beta-3 if not already. I'm hoping to have fixed the lockups. @Omen: Yes, you should be able to adjust the fade timings in 0.98. Not sure because at work, but should be a style parameter value you can change in Nostalgia.xaml. Look in the section on the wheel views, towards the bottom of that section.
  24. Is this with the default theme?
