@The_Keeper86 Yes. If you are using stable you might have to change the Wine command on any launchers or shortcuts you may have created, as it changes to "wine" (from "wine-stable" I think).
Thanks! I might just wait and see if @Jason Carr adds it to the script. For now I'm still trying to figure out how to get Steam games to launch.

@bombatomba77 that's a pretty good idea! I haven't used staging in forever! Is there anything special we have to do after installing it? I Ubuntu/Debian based distros myself. Using Pop OS atm.

Thanks @jedigu Hopefully we can figure out how to get things to launch soon

@Jason Carr Np glad to be helping! Take your time
@jedigu Thanks for such a detailed post! Posts like yours will definitely help! Regarding the registry edit how did you put in the dot character?

Doing some testing finally. Atm just testing launching Steam games. I had to manually changed the Steam id shortcut ie steam steam://rungameid/612880 I get a "application path not found" I tried changing the path to the desktop shortcut and get a similar error "file not found" I haven't tried any emulators yet. Maybe I'll try the exe file (this is a Windows game that runs perfectly via Proton). Any suggestions would be great as I'm really into getting this working
Same error with PCSX2 (Linux version) also trying to launching PCSX2 from the right click menu gives me a "invalid OS platform error" hope these are helping.

Where in the process are you getting those errors? The second one (http one) means that it's trying to download a pre-requisite that should have already been installed.
Right before it attempts to run the LB installer I get the rundll32 error then the http error. I wiped the LB folder and am trying again. I don't want to clog this thread with these issues. But I'll edit this post and report back. If you have time please check back in 15-20 minutes.
*Edit* yeah, still getting those same errors. Not sure what it could be. It installed fine in Mint 20 and Kde Neon.

Running Pop OS atm and keep getting these two errors one is an error saying "rundll32.exe this application could not be started"and the other is when it attempts to install LB I get a pop up when its trying to install VB 2015 saying "unsupported protocol only http and ftp protocols are supported" I know this is more of a Linux/Wine issue I'm sure it has nothing to do with LB. I wanted to do some more testing on the new release. It installed just fine on Linux Mint however.

Thanks @Jason Carr! Glad you aren't giving up on this because of lack of posts. I'll let people I know who use Linux about it. Will also give the new release a try!

I also had the same issues as you @jedigu especially with PCSX2, so I'm glad I wasn't the only one. @Jason Carr take your time man. Anything I can do to help I'd be glad to. I mainly run Ubuntu and Debian based distros. I'm no programmer but am happy to do any testing! Wish more people would be post in this thread.

Ok it seems it was a plugin in one of those folders. Can't say which one but I can do further testing on it. Now I'm just trying to get some Steam games running ( I use Proton) and for some odd reason when it puts in the steam id launch command in the path like normal it displays it like this
steam://rungam eid/612880
So it throws an error out about not being able to find the path have you had any luck with launching any games? I figured Steam would probably the easiest.
I even tried the Linux version of the command which would be
steam steam://rungameid/612880
No luck it does however display correctly in the application path though.

@Jason Carr yeah, I didn't think about that. Figured it was in my plugins folder so I removed that and still got the same error. Haven't tried the themes yet. I'll try that and report back

Hey @Jason Carr this probably was probably a goofy idea but I copied over my LB folder from my Windows drive to Linux and I get this error
Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Could not load file or assembly 'System.Configuration.Install, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. File not found. I'm sure it's something to do with my settings haha.

Hey all, 11.3-beta-7 is out now, and the instructions and scripts in the first post of this topic have been updated. Videos are now working in LaunchBox.
Amazing man thanks so much! I'll have to give it a shot! Still wondering how native Linux emulators will work but I know first priority is getting LB/BB working

Thanks for the update @Jason Carr

@static thanks for all the info! It makes sense to get LB working first. It was just something I've been curious about. Good to know it should be possible!

@static thanks for testing. shame it crashes but I have a feeling we're getting closer.
Hopefully @Jason Carr can chime in on that error when he has time.
I did have a question though since this will be using Wine I keep wondering if it'll be possible to launch Linux native versions of emulators such as Retroarch or will we have to use Windows versions? Sorry if this is way too early to ask.

Any more progress been made? I'm itching to boot back to Linux but LB keeps me on Windows like my games used to ? I know these things take more time than I could ever possibly imagine! If it matters I mainly use Manjaro/Arch.
-
Amazing! Could you possibly make some for PS2 and PS3?

Thanks @Jason Carr and @static and anyone else involved for trying to get LB/BB working on Linux! Huge step forward!

As of just recently, there have been some significant developments with .NET and Linux Wine that *might* make it feasible for WPF applications, and thus LaunchBox (and who knows, maybe even Big Box) to run well enough on Linux. I do have plans to evaluate this here soon and see what can be done. I am excited about it, but I'm also a little bit skeptical. Very much hoping it works out though. It wouldn't be the same as a native Linux app, but if we can get it to run well enough under Wine, it would be a pretty big deal.
This would be great! As I dual boot, please keep us informed

@Zombeaver thanks! I figured out the problem I use the SteamLauncher plugin and for some reason it set my Pcsx2 emu path to the proxy exe used by that plugin. It's done that before. I'll message @Lahma and let him know. Once I changed the path it started working again!
