    Hi All,

I'm trying to create a theme that uses 3D Cart Images. I want to use custom ones that only the theme I'm creating uses.

What is the path necessary to place the custom images and have my theme use those images?

    I've tried --

    ThemeName/Images/Games/Games Cart3D

    ThemeName/Images/Games/Games Cart 3D

    ThemeName/Images/Games/Games Cart - 3D

I know @faeran did it with his Vision theme for fanart using

    Vision/Images/Games/Games Background

It depends on what you want to use the image for. Do you want them inside of a wheel, or just displayed somewhere on the screen?

Since the updates earlier this year that randomized the moderation queue things have taken longer and longer to get moderated. I currently have several items that were submitted on 10/27 in the early morning still awaiting 3 votes. There are zero rejections on these items, but still they wait. I have plenty of other submissions since then that have been approved. It feels like some part of the process has broken down.

Are you able to provide specific examples of changes you feel are stuck in the system? We'll take a look and see what's up.

Is there any way to identify games that only came out in a specific region?

If your files are marked with a region, LaunchBox will import that data into your library, and you can filter by it in a number of ways.

Such a pity, still no news on the custom playlist feature with the latest update.

do you have any ETA or idea of when you are planning to work on this feature? Many thanks for your work!

No ETA at this time, but it's on a long list of items to internally discuss and eventually tackle.

    It happened again!

Not quite again. It's still on our long list to tackle, along with other database related items to clean up. Just know that it's not as simple as removing it. Work will have to be done to make sure there's no unexpected consequences.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but just a question about the import functionality. The only storefront I'd be likely to add would be Steam (assuming it only adds locally installed games). I also use standalone installers and just add shortcuts to Steam. For instance, the games I buy from GOG I just shortcut into Steam instead of using GOG's launcher (which I like, but it's just simpler to have one unified launcher). Would the Launchbox auto-import also grab games I've manually shortcutted into Steam? I could see how scraping errors might result if a game is an exclusive to another gamefront like Epic or whatever, but that would be easy to tweak after the import.

In your specific scenario, you would want to set up Steam in LaunchBox and make it import installed games. Then take your Windows shortcuts, or the game exes from other sources and drag/drop them into LaunchBox. Just make sure the files are named in a way LaunchBox can consume them: Game Name (other information)

I've not used Launchbox in a while, today I noticed premium was due for renewal several weeks past.

Now, when I go to renew today, I'm told it will run up to 13th Oct 2024, is this correct or is this an error and I'd get a full year from today?

It's an error. You'll end up getting the full year.

  8. If I remember correctly, then the difference is mostly seen in the Platform Categories section. Imagine you have the following tree:

    • Sega Genesis
      • Action

Platform Name would read: Sega Genesis Action

    Nested Name would show: Action

Hello! Love the theme. Wondering if anyone could help point me to where in the code I would go to edit the following parameters? I’m trying to condense everything as much as possible in order to get the most out of my display by removing ad much dead space possible. Thanks!

    IMG_1265.jpeg

Check inside of BoxesContentView.xaml. It should all be in there somewhere.

    Hi, it's me again

I'm replying here in order to not open another topic.

Can you have multiple banners for a single platform?

I know that in the desktop version, if you have multiple images (with -1, -2, etc...) one or the other is selected randomly.

Does that work here? I have created two PSone banner but it only shows the first one always.

    Thanks

This is not currently possible in the Android version.

We appreciate the updates. Any chance you can add Vita3K?

    18 hours ago, cult said:

Not a developer but Vita3K is the system I'm primarily interested in so I thought I'd provide what I've seen. There's a thread on Reddit saying that Vita3K poses some issues due to the UI being written in C++ and that the the game gets decompressed on install which causes issues with direct links. I've also done some testing with the Daijisho link below but wasn't successful. The dev's probably has this info already but just in case:

    https://github.com/TapiocaFox/Daijishou/blob/main/docs/daijishou_player_template.md#vita3k

We'd love to make this happen, but after investing a bunch of time into this emulator, there were a number of key factors that would stop this from happening. Cult lists out some of them in his post.

We'll definitely try again if anything significant happens with this emulator that could potentially solve them. If anyone knows a dev there, we'd love to talk to them to see if something can be done.

Some beta feedback - Had a few random crashes using the wheel view but otherwise things have been fine. Been using Yuzu primarily and noticed that when exiting a game it brings me back to the Yuzu front end vs. Launchbox (not sure if anything can be done about that). But otherwise great progress

Thanks for the feedback. Going back directly to LaunchBox usually requires the emulator itself to have some kind of exit hotkey or exit option. I haven't checked yuzu specifically, so you'd have to dig around their settings and see if they have one.

    - duckstation doesn't work

    - citra-nightly added the ability to launch games externally a few months ago, it works with all other launchers

    - the option to add a custom emulator is unclear and does not take all the parameters.

For example trying to add retroarch's scummvm core:

    Name:
    com.retroarch

    Activity name:
    com.retroarch.browser.retroactivity.RetroActivityFuture

    Path Key:
    -e LIBRETRO /data/data/com.retroarch/cores/scummvm_libretro_android.so -e CONFIGFILE /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.retroarch/files/retroarch.cfg -e ROM

It doesn't work, it launches retroarch, but doesn't load the rom, the config and the game

    On 10/26/2023 at 12:20 PM, snarfo67 said:

Yeah, launching ROMs from Citra should be able to be implemented now as well which was another sticking point for me. Good point, Jessica.

I'm not sure how kosher it is to mention other launchers, but I find the way Daijisho handles emulators (not to mention just being a great home screen replacement) is really slick. The only lack in Daijisho's functionality for me is that it has no portrait support. Since I got a telescopic controller, a stylus, and a 2023 model Lenovo Legion Y700 tablet (ETA Prime's video put me over the top on deciding to buy one) my portable emulation capabilities have gone through the roof. I'm either a) in need of a 12-step program or b) the coolest middle-aged guy in town now. Meh, it can be both.

Thanks for the feedback. We will definitely look into some of this for future updates. We'd love to better support custom emulators and allow users more freedom with setting them up. For RetroArch in-particular, we'd just simply love to provide users a way to type in or somehow choose their own core that we may not have gotten around to adding yet. Good news about Citra, we have that on our list to take a look at.

  12. Colorful Flex

Colorful Flex is based on viking's Colorful v3 concepts. It is a light version of what will eventually become the next version of the Colorful Big Box theme. It is heavily based on his platform hardware image set.

This theme is best downloaded within LaunchBox for Android, through the Manage Themes section of the app. This post is mainly for support purposes only.

    Available Views:

    • 1 Filters view is available
    • 2 Game views are available, 1 supports videos while the other does not

    Requirements:

    • It requires Android 1.10 or above due to its reliance on the Animation engine and custom image control included with this version.
    • While touch screen controls do work, it is highly recommended to only use this theme with a controller
    • This theme will adjust to different aspect ratios and orientations, but was mainly developed using a landscape widescreen device

    • Thanks viking for his concept images

In the Android version, is one of the option for standard views (its called Banners).

When I select a platform, then I do use a theme (the Grid is my choice).

That's why I can't find the images. There is no 'banner theme'... or I can't find it.

You can switch them, but only one at a time. Holding down on one of the platforms to open its menu and choose Edit Media and replace the Banner Image. Make sure the banner is the same size, I think they are 384x1080 if I remember correctly.

Why when I import my mames from a directory... It shows me the games I'm adding.... No problem.

But when I go to view the games, it says I have exceeded the amount I can list and I go and there are a ton of games listed I don't have. And none of them are even playable. How do I just add the ones I have and not the others?

My first thought is that you may have left the This is a Full MAME Set option checked during your import. Delete the platform and try again, making sure to keep it unchecked and see how it goes.

  15. I'm starting a new beta thread for the latest LaunchBox for Android beta, and will handle beta release threads like this moving forward, matching what we do with our Windows beta threads.

This post is reserved for anyone willing to help us with LaunchBox for Android 1.10 beta releases. You can opt into the beta releases in the app by going into Options and enabling the Update to Beta Releases option. Then restart the app and follow the steps.

Beta 1 contains the following changes:

    • LaunchBox now remembers the last filter or platform you've used and selects it by default just like on the desktop; this works for all filter levels and platform categories (with an option available to disable)
    • A new option to whitelist file extensions has been added to the import process
    • Star ratings can now be set via the game menu
    • Added the following new emulators: Yuzu, Flycast
    • Improved the launching of the Yaba Sanshiro 2 and Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro emulators
    • The theming engine has seen major improvements including a brand new animation engine, a new image control, and a host of new fixes and improvements; the LaunchBox\Themes\Documentation.pdf file has been updated, but in order to see it, first delete your current file then restart the app to have it replenish with the new version (you will not need to do this after the official release).
    • 10 custom themes by Faeran have been created or updated to take advantage of the new theme options (All but 1 have been released and are available in the app)
    • Improved performance across all views
    • Fixed a rare crash that could occur during imports and media downloads

Thanks to all who are willing to help us test our betas.

  16. VisioN - Lite

This theme was inspired by the Big Box theme of the same name. It is a lightweight version of the theme that utilizes the same style. The original was a stylish, background heavy focused theme with inspiration from the unreleased Aura 4k theme by iGarikoitz. There are many differences between the two themes, some are added benefits while others were compromises that needed to be made to make it work on the multitude of Android devices. This theme only contains one filters view at the moment. No game views are included and have not been designed up to this point.

This theme is best downloaded within LaunchBox for Android, through the Manage Themes section of the app. This post is mainly for support purposes only.

  17. Lucent

Lucent is a modern take on an Android theme and heavily uses custom images to achieve its light and airy flow. It uses custom platform backgrounds and clear logos, and its inspiration is found in many different themes that came before it including hydef's Light, which was inspired by Radiance, which was inspired by iGarikoitz's line of themes.

This theme is best downloaded within LaunchBox for Android, through the Manage Themes section of the app. This post is mainly for support purposes only.

  18. By default, LaunchBox does combine discs into the same game entry, allowing you to then select which disc to load up. If you want them separate, then during the import process you'll want to uncheck the "combine games" option that you'll see on one of the later pages.

You'll also want to make sure that disc 2 isn't already imported and associated with your main game by editing the game and checking your additional apps section.

Hi! I'm using the new feature to automatically import XBox/Microsoft Store games on opening LaunchBox but found an issue with it.

It's importing some games that I don't own. I have played them before as I went recently on a trial of Game Pass (but I'm not on it any more) so that's why they are showing up there.

Is there any way to avoid importing games I don't own? Thanks!

One thing you can do is simply delete the games that you don't own. The system is designed to not re-import them again automatically once deleted.

How are things going with development? Any planned new features we can expect with the next release that we can know about? What's the planned timeline for release - Should we be on the look or for something by the end of the year?

Things are progressing well. With any new person there's always a bit of an adjustment as they get up to speed, but things have definitely progressed nicely.

I don't really know tbh. fan made horizontal would be cool. Are there any Source?

I assume you'd have to go game by game, but just checking the first game in your image "Go Go Ackman" it does look like the LaunchBox Games Database has fan made 3D box images for NA sized boxes:

Should be easy enough to edit the game, go to the images section and download available 3d box images and see what you can get.

You can also search directly on the website, which is what I did to find this: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/images/3459-go-go-ackman
