  1. I'm... Not sure I understand? I offered to expand my website to be used in a feature for his plugin... I'm not asking for anything, only offering.
  2. I run the site with my good friend Pete. I may be able to wrangle something together for it if you'd like to use it If you could let me know what specifications you need we can put it together for you.
  3. It would be cool if we could somehow make this work with the site we built as a side to DidYouKnowGaming, VGFacts, and have it pull a piece of trivia for each game, console, etc. Though we have no API for you to grab from, so could prove to be a problem.
  4. I'd love this - was hoping for something similar with my setup as I use Steam Big Picture as a launcher within my Windows platform at the moment.
  5. Not sure this is really the right place to ask, as I don't want to risk using the beta (but I appreciate everyone who does!), but will auto playlists be able to list, for example, consoles with region exclusive games? My job involves talking about games exclusive to outside of America, and having a way of listing those titles in Launchbox would be amazing.
  6. False alarm, I am in fact a complete spanner. I had it set up with additional apps on my tester games, so it was still mounting them and causing issues... Urgh. This is so much nicer now. Thank you! I'm sure not all games will run, but this is so much easier that I simply do not care at this stage. My life is complete. You're all wonderful.
  7. It seems that in this attempt, trying to launch any file from an archive in Retroarch for the Saturn results in a failure to load (after closing for a short period), and attempting to extract an archive in Launchbox first and have it launch through Retroarch is giving me nothing booting up. The files appear to be extracting to the 7z temp folder, but then just being deleted after Retroarch fails to do anything...
  8. Last I tried using Retroarch to emulate Saturn I could only get it to work by randomly finding which file should be used within an archive to launch a game... And then sometimes that game wouldn't be able to be launched with Mednafen, but only Yabause for some reason (I think the file type?) - and even then, it closes Retroarch for AGES, then randomly starts up again with the game running. It sits in my process manager for a long time I guess extracting the archive. These are issues not even starting with getting it to boot through Launchbox I wish CD based games were just easier to deal with, haha
  9. Hey guys, so I'm working on a batch script to launch SSF after mounting a rom in Daemon Tools. I currently have all my Saturn games zipped up, setting Launchbox to extract those zips, daemon tools then attempts to mount the wrong filetype. Instead of mounting the .IMG it is mounting the .CCD file, and as a result SSF is stating no disc is inserted. I'm assuming that my work to this point is correct, but it seems Launchbox automatically decides what the "rom" file is to use when passing roms to emulators. Is this coded in at the back as just the first file that comes out, or does it seek specific file types in priority? I cannot for the life of me work out how to manage all my Saturn games without manually mounting, unmounting, or individually editing every single game to add an additional application (which for some reason has stopped working since moving to a different computer anyway...)
  10. So I came to a solution because I'm an idiot and didn't actually really notice the "Add game" button in the bottom right of the interface... Go me. I now have a menu item under Windows to launch Steam. That will suffice, but perhaps it would be a good idea to have an option for bootable applications from the "platform" menu level? I'm unsure on how this would be considered, but the idea of just booting "Steam" as a console, as opposed to a game under Windows sounds pretty nice to me. Could be used for other applications in the future too, such as Kodi.
  11. Hey guys. I'm not sure if I'm just being stupid, but I wanted to have a menu item that would just simply open Steam. I've configured Steam to open in big picture mode when opened, but for the life of me can't figure out how to just have a launchable executable... I was thinking of just having a "Steam" menu icon, like a console, which will simply launch steam in big picture mode. This is because with big picture mode, I'm capable of installing games through my controller, rather than having to pull out my mouse and keyboard, and find the window that requires me to hit next. I can also check progress and just manage things easier on that end. Big Box's import feature for Steam is great, but with a library as large as mine it's... Well, not worth it, frankly. If need be, I'd wouldn't be against just launching Steam as an application under the Windows platform, but right now that too seems like an effort.
  12. Honestly, Launchbox and its community is perfect in scope for me. This place is built on people with a common love of games, and everyone seems to have the right kind of chilled out attitude for it. Perhaps it's because we're a community of people willing to invest some time in luxuries in life? Who knows. For me, Launchbox is a blessing in the living room. In a house of 4 guys who all work on gaming videos (I work on a channel called DidYouKnowGaming! Check it out!) we couldn't ask for an easier way to manage all of our random ass games that we'll never dig out of the cupboard. Truly amazing stuff guys, always waiting to see what else you've got.
  13. I've noticed that the method of displaying broken games within LaunchBox (games that don't boot) is typically handled by a video which says a game is broken. Wouldn't it be an interesting feature to allow for people marking games as broken within LaunchBox being sent back to the Games DB, and if enough people are marking a game as broken, it reports that to others as metadata updates which can mark them for the user. My only concern would be it being dependant on what application they use as their emulator, as this determines things being broken. And of course with updated emulators, this will change. I'd love for this feature to have more prominence, but I'm not sure the best method it could be handled. What are your thoughts?
  14. Looking this up, it seems there were plans for a field for a Series tag to be included within the Games DB, similar to the one found within Launchbox. I would love for this feature to be implemented, and I'd be happy to help fill fields in as quickly as possible to get the ball rolling. I'm not sure if this was held out due to a lack of community interest or not, but I'd just like to say that I'm super interested!
  15. I am a complete idiot and you're right, I just had my emulator configured incorrectly apparently... PSX runs fine from an archive it seems. Not sure what I had setup wrong but I fixed it somewhere down the line... Not sure about Dreamcast still, will re-examine with a bunch of games later.
  16. That is true, but I figure in terms of having it display correctly at any sized image would be quite nice. So even when you have 4 in a column, you don't need it to be too large that it will destroy being able to view vertically.
  17. I would like to mention that with Dreamcast GDI format, there are typically a few files stored with them. But if you can implement that previously mentioned ability for a zip to be extracted and have the emulator load the .GDI image, then that should really make it operate, right? Just figured I'd mention it in case there wasn't much thought made towards Dreamcast yet, as you said you've not really done much work on the format yet.
  18. This is a really small niggling issue, to be honest I doubt many people will be bothered by it... But for some reason, it's driving me mad. When you have boxes on screen and there's some leftover space where another box can't quite fit, it'll just have an empty space... I feel like it'd make more sense to have the games justify to the spacing available, giving them even spacing on their left and right to have it "central" but not actually just "centered"... I hope that makes sense? Just figured I'd point it out, though I'm sure everyone knows about it. I just wanted to put my hand in and say "this looks a little weird".
  19. It's all of them. The issue is that my entire collection is made up of multitrack bin and cue files. There's no simple way to convert them to a different usable format easily at all (I've been trying for hours...) I've attempted to convert some of these to .pbp, but the end result won't boot. Same with converting to ISO from what I've seen, though I got it working with the slow and arduous task of manually converting games. Very slowly. I think for now I'll just give up on PS1 emulation until the rest of my config is finished. Then I'll continue to torture myself.
  20. Is there a simple way of batch converting to pbp? I saw this tutorial before and figured that was the best option, and I guess this has solidified that for me... I just don't feel like manually converting my extensive collection. It'd take a fair while... Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it. When you mention that typically the .cue sheet is sought out first, will that mean that on extracting the archive it will also extract the rest of the data too so that it can be used?
  21. Hello! I've managed to do imports for almost every console I've looked to so far, with only the exception of a couple. Those being SEGA Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation. I have come to learn that the issue is down to the format my games are stored in. While I archive all of my roms across all of my consoles, these 2 CD based games give me issues due to the way that archives are currently handled in Launchbox. I believe it looks for the first file in an archive, extracts it, and attempts to run it as a rom. When it comes to games that run on multiple files this, of course, does not work. I suppose I'm asking for 1 of 2 things here; either if it's possible to have a method of loading an archive for the PlayStation that has .cue and .bin files in, alongside the DreamCast which contains .GDI .bin and .raw files, or a method of batch converting FOLDERS of data for either console into a single file format in a batch. I think the Dreamcast has .CHD files which GDI can be converted into, but to do so requires an application which from my understanding won't be able to batch process items within folders. Any help you can supply would be greatly appreciated!

    Notes Box

Hey guys, I've just started using LaunchBox, and I can already tell you that it is beyond all other applications. Management is a complete cinch! My only issue I've conceived so far is that while I can add a tonne of emulators to the application, some of my games are stored in compressed archives while aren't. This isn't a problem, but what is is remember how I'm handling some of these things on the backend. For example, while I have retroarch extracting archives prior to booting them, I have PCSX2 not doing so, and instead having the emulator handle the decompression with their own method. I also know that I've modified the data of some of the games in my collection for one reason or another. It'd be nice if, within the menus for emulators and games, I was able to leave myself helpful little notes to review if I ever encounter and issue and need to change anything. I know that this is kind of technically possible with a commented out message within the autokey header, but I'd rather avoid that for the sake of keeping things clean. I'm not sure if this is really a feature that people are going to want, as I know that we could just keep a little notepad file somewhere, but I thought it might help people who are arranging complex setups. Cheers, Dazz
