    Oh yeah, that's probably it!

So the "old" platform Icon folder is not needed anymore, right? Can you telle me what other folders are also not needed anymore? I'd like to clean up evrything to avoid confusion in the future.

I am not 100% sure on what folder. If you see a /Media Packs folder then I would wager a guess any image types in that area would no longer use the original folder locations.

  2. @SiriusVI Are you on the most recent version of LB and have you used the Media Packs feature it now offers? Look and see if you have >Media Packs>Platform Icons>Legacy Conversion Icon Pack> folder. This may be the reason placing the images in the traditional folder is no longer working. Images would need to go in the Media Pack folder now. Custom images located in a \LBTheme folder override normal image folders, this may have the same affect on the Media Packs images as well. I have not messed with the new Media Packs feature so I could be wrong, but I would say check for that folder and test there and see if it works.

  3. As mentioned by Headrush69 you imported the exe file and that will not work. However, I do not think you need to use the bat file soley, as you can also use the z64 rom. If you follow the video you linked you see he imports the file highlighted in the image below (Showdown64.z64). That is the same file I imported as the rom and it runs without issues.

  4. Since the importer is showing "0" it looks like when you removed the game it did not get removed. The "0" usually denotes a game already exists of that name. So best thing to do is reimport and select the option for "Force Import Duplicate".

I just tested importing this rom and the custom emulator and had no issue. If you import again and get the emulator error right click and edit the game and double check in the "emulation" tab that the emulator is selected there.

  5. LB is not the one classifying it as Mature. Mame's xaml file that LB uses to import has it listed as "Fighter / Versus * Mature *". So if you want that game included you would need to uncheck that option in the filter. If you ran the full set importer you can add the game individually by dragging the rom file into LB and running through the import wizard.

Street Fighter Zero will be found as additional apps (additional game versions) under your listing for Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dream. Same will be said for Street Fighter Zero 2 which will be found under Street Fighter Alpha 2.

Just installed beta-3 to address the out of memory issues when waking from sleep and things are more broken than ever.

If I "Sleep" via a method outside of Big Box, then wake, the out of memory crash occurs as before.

If I use the Big Box menu to "Sleep", then wake, it doesn't crash, but all the artwork is lost (grey boxes), and the main area of the game info does not refresh. I can still scroll and launch games, but everything about the interface is frozen and most elements are just gone.

I do not believe Beta 3 fixed anything on this. Faeren's post mentioned it only as a known issue and it may be fixed for release (next stable) or beta 1 of the next release.

  7. OK. Back on topic please. Moving forward I will be deleting non-beta related posts to clean this thread up. If anyone has an issue with that you can PM me directly. Otherwise, it's back to providing testing data so the devs can work on software issues users find.

In the future if you have a person gripe feel free to click on the "Monkeys" subforum and have at it to your hearts content.

I clicked on the download this file and it takes me to a site where there is 5 or 6 things to download. I am not sure which one and where to put it.

There are instructions on the page that tell you what to download and where to put the files.

Thanks, but the problem is that the screen is running fullscreen, so 9:16 aspect ratio, so I want to force the aspect ratio on the theme to display 1:1 and have the top and bottom parts just black.

Since you are not actually running 1:1 aspect ratio and are just forcing the theme into a specific area of a 9:16 aspect ratio you might need to edit a theme and adjust the grids of the canvas so the footprint of the theme only shows in the area you want. I am not the most knowledgable in coding, but that is exactly what I did when making custom views for my marquee screens (9:16 aspect screen and I used only the upper 1/3 of the screen to show a marquee image).

Hey guy I'm new here and I started to building a  light gun shooter arcade I have a couple light gun  games but I was wondering if anyone was sell a bundle pack of games . Plug and play would be perfect but i would settle with just the games ,Or some links would be cool as well

    Thanks, Deoblo

Links to roms and sharing of roms on the forum is not allowed.

If someone is willing to provide the help please do so through private message.

  11. I do believe that is actually part of the video that is playing not an element of BB artwork/image files. So all the animations and the cabinet you see in that part of the screen are components of the whole video. Those are typically referred to a "Theme" videos. If memory serves me I believe that video is part of the "Refried" theme videos.

  12. What does the name of the other game look like (provide a pic of how it appears in LB)?

Reason I ask is maybe the image is not linking due to the fact that game name you are showing in the video has the Registered (®) and Trademark (™) symbols in the actual name  Dishonored® :Death of the Outsider ™

LB may be saving the image in the folder but the syntax it gives that image name is likely not matching the game. If you open the image folder is there an image for that game there?

  13.  You mentioned LB recognizes your license, but in your last post with the pic of the error in LB it clearly shows LB does not see a license as in the upper right corner it shows you are using a free version. If you had a paid license it would show your name where is states "Free Version".

  14. If you edit say the Sega CD platform in LB (Right click the platforms name and choose Edit) then go to the Folders tab does the image path for your marquee differ than the folder path for Super Nintendo? (Please posts pics so we can see what this looks like)

To clarify a bit though your media structure does not mirror what LB would use. It does differ.

For example "marquee images\Sega CD\Terminator, The (usa).jpg" and "marquee images\Super Nintendo Entertainment System\Terminator 2 - Judgment Day (USA).jpg" and several others.

Your filing of the image is  "marquee images\Sega CD\Terminator, The (usa).jpg"

    LB would file it as [ \Images\Sega CD\Arcade - Marquee\Terminator, The (USA).jpg]

Notice how LB uses >Platform Name >Image Type >Image Name

You have >[custom image type name] >Platform >Image Name

  15. If you use the LB defaults for the full set importer then the defaults will already exclude gambling games. The default settings only import Arcade games.

The image below shows the standard default check boxes (disregard the Region and Variant priorities as those are not defaults). The gambling games typically fall under Casino.

    Screenshot 2025-03-13 at 8.57.46 AM.png

  16. If you are in LB and choose to remove the image LB will delete it from the folder.

LB may not like your folder structure and is struggling to keep things separated. LB does allow you to change the default folder path for images, but it typically looks for an image by [Platform Name] > [Image Type] > [Game Name]. I have my images on a separate drive from the LB main folder, but the filing structure mirrors how LB would typically do it internally.

i want it nested with a custom platform name i created. i cant see where to implement this. there is no box to check to include this with platforms with this option. i dont want it under nintendo, sega etc. i want it to be a custom platform name. when i go in, i wanted to see all my playlists and genres that i have in there...

You have to go into the "Parents" tab and tell LB where you want it.

For example I have a Category called "Playlists" and then in the category I have all of my Playlists. Here is how it is set up.

The first pic shows how it looks in LB. The second pic is the Category Details. Third pic is how the Parents tab looks for the Category (Only "Root" is selected so it falls in the upper most level along with all other Categories"). The last pic is an edit of one playlist and how the Parents tab looks for it (Only the "Playlist (Category)" is checked so it shows up under that category with all other playlists).

The key is using the "Parents" tab to manipulate where you want things to show up.

So when I added Terminator Salvation LB decided that all the terminator games on home consoles shared a marquee with this arcade game.  So it's like Sega CD, SNES, Genesis etc all those home console marquees are now assigned to Terminator Salvation.  If I click "remove" in LB it attempts to delete the files, so how can I keep the files yet remove them from being assigned to that game?

This seems a bit odd as each platform would have its own image folder. So if you download a marquee image for Mortal Kombat 2 for the "Arcade" platform it would file the image in the \Images\Arcade\Arcade - Marquee folder. As a result if you had Mortal Kombat 2 in your Sega Genesis platform that game would not access the image in the Arcade platform folder. It would directly access an image located in \Images\Sega Genesis\Arcade - Marquee.

So I would say open each of the relative "Arcade - Marquee" image folders for those platforms and see if that same image is in each of them. Posting some pictures for us to see would help troubleshoot more.

Also I deleted your other post. Please refrain from posting the same issue in multiple places.

ok so i cant put all of them into a platform.... cant include my category of playlists with platforms

I may be misunderstanding what you mean exactly, but Category can be nested under a platform. You need to make sure in the Parents tab of that Category that you uncheck Root and check the Platform you want it nested under.

In this pic the first Arcade is the main Platform Category I have all Arcade boards such as Arcade (for Mame), SNK Neo Geo MVS, etc...You can see  I then nested a Category called "Test Playlist Category" under Arcade platform (Mame) then nested a "Test New Playlist" inside that new Category.

    Screenshot 2025-03-11 at 6.49.48 AM.png

  20. First when in LB you need to have the view set the "Platform Categories". Then when in that view right click on any item in the left hand pane and choose >Add >New Category.

Now fill out the details as you want them in the Details tab then in the Parents tab make sure only "Root" is checked.

Next go to one of your Playlists and right click the name and edit it. Then in the Parents tab uncheck any locations checked there and check only the location for the new Category you made.

    Launchbox hierarchy goes like this.

Category: Categories can contain any number of nested platforms and playlists. Categories can be nested under other categories and under platforms.

Platforms: Platform can have nested Categories and Playlists. Platforms can only be nested under a Category.

Playlists: Playlists can be nested under Categories and Platforms. Playlists cannot have any nested children (other Categories, Platforms, or Playlists).

Im Experiencing Problems Where my big box crashes after around 2 minutes. Im Using the current version and im using the neon arcade deluxe theme if that matters. thx in advance.

Is this from manual scrolling or when leaving attract mode running? Also are you on latest beta or 13.19 stable release? If you are running VLC for the videos try changing to WMP. Please note LB and BB have setting for VLC/WMP in both. So if the issue is in BB then change that option in the BB settings.

If attract mode there was a prior post about this issue.

Same here. Guessing this has something to do with the new database format. It's not so much a crash as it is a hang. There's no activity in the task manager process. I also think the updated VLC is not compatible with a lot of the graphics. For once, Windows Media is more compatible than VLC in this application though you'll still notice missing media.

The database change will not affect BB since LB typically only accessed the DB when pulling meta data during import or when updating game data.

  22. Ae you running LB Betas?

The latest beta does have a new TeknoP emulator profile to assist in setting up TeknoP. It could be related to that. I have not tested the new feature since my TP has been set up for years.
