I do believe that is actually part of the video that is playing not an element of BB artwork/image files. So all the animations and the cabinet you see in that part of the screen are components of the whole video. Those are typically referred to a "Theme" videos. If memory serves me I believe that video is part of the "Refried" theme videos.

LaunchBox is not saving downloaded images from Epic Game Store
Retro808 replied to duerra's topic in Troubleshooting
What does the name of the other game look like (provide a pic of how it appears in LB)? Reason I ask is maybe the image is not linking due to the fact that game name you are showing in the video has the Registered (®) and Trademark (™) symbols in the actual name Dishonored® :Death of the Outsider ™ LB may be saving the image in the folder but the syntax it gives that image name is likely not matching the game. If you open the image folder is there an image for that game there? -
You mentioned LB recognizes your license, but in your last post with the pic of the error in LB it clearly shows LB does not see a license as in the upper right corner it shows you are using a free version. If you had a paid license it would show your name where is states "Free Version".

Yeah, I just reran the importer and see the same thing you are. Looking in the Mame.xml file those games showing up are tagged as <IsCasino>true</IsCasino> So I will check with the team.

If you edit say the Sega CD platform in LB (Right click the platforms name and choose Edit) then go to the Folders tab does the image path for your marquee differ than the folder path for Super Nintendo? (Please posts pics so we can see what this looks like) To clarify a bit though your media structure does not mirror what LB would use. It does differ. Your filing of the image is "marquee images\Sega CD\Terminator, The (usa).jpg" LB would file it as [ \Images\Sega CD\Arcade - Marquee\Terminator, The (USA).jpg] Notice how LB uses >Platform Name >Image Type >Image Name You have >[custom image type name] >Platform >Image Name

If you use the LB defaults for the full set importer then the defaults will already exclude gambling games. The default settings only import Arcade games. The image below shows the standard default check boxes (disregard the Region and Variant priorities as those are not defaults). The gambling games typically fall under Casino.

If you are in LB and choose to remove the image LB will delete it from the folder. LB may not like your folder structure and is struggling to keep things separated. LB does allow you to change the default folder path for images, but it typically looks for an image by [Platform Name] > [Image Type] > [Game Name]. I have my images on a separate drive from the LB main folder, but the filing structure mirrors how LB would typically do it internally.

Trying to put all my custom Playlists and genres into one playlist.
Retro808 replied to Cnells2000's topic in Noobs
You have to go into the "Parents" tab and tell LB where you want it. For example I have a Category called "Playlists" and then in the category I have all of my Playlists. Here is how it is set up. The first pic shows how it looks in LB. The second pic is the Category Details. Third pic is how the Parents tab looks for the Category (Only "Root" is selected so it falls in the upper most level along with all other Categories"). The last pic is an edit of one playlist and how the Parents tab looks for it (Only the "Playlist (Category)" is checked so it shows up under that category with all other playlists). The key is using the "Parents" tab to manipulate where you want things to show up. -
This seems a bit odd as each platform would have its own image folder. So if you download a marquee image for Mortal Kombat 2 for the "Arcade" platform it would file the image in the \Images\Arcade\Arcade - Marquee folder. As a result if you had Mortal Kombat 2 in your Sega Genesis platform that game would not access the image in the Arcade platform folder. It would directly access an image located in \Images\Sega Genesis\Arcade - Marquee. So I would say open each of the relative "Arcade - Marquee" image folders for those platforms and see if that same image is in each of them. Posting some pictures for us to see would help troubleshoot more. Also I deleted your other post. Please refrain from posting the same issue in multiple places.

Trying to put all my custom Playlists and genres into one playlist.
Retro808 replied to Cnells2000's topic in Noobs
I may be misunderstanding what you mean exactly, but Category can be nested under a platform. You need to make sure in the Parents tab of that Category that you uncheck Root and check the Platform you want it nested under. In this pic the first Arcade is the main Platform Category I have all Arcade boards such as Arcade (for Mame), SNK Neo Geo MVS, etc...You can see I then nested a Category called "Test Playlist Category" under Arcade platform (Mame) then nested a "Test New Playlist" inside that new Category. -

First when in LB you need to have the view set the "Platform Categories". Then when in that view right click on any item in the left hand pane and choose >Add >New Category. Now fill out the details as you want them in the Details tab then in the Parents tab make sure only "Root" is checked. Next go to one of your Playlists and right click the name and edit it. Then in the Parents tab uncheck any locations checked there and check only the location for the new Category you made. Launchbox hierarchy goes like this. Category: Categories can contain any number of nested platforms and playlists. Categories can be nested under other categories and under platforms. Platforms: Platform can have nested Categories and Playlists. Platforms can only be nested under a Category. Playlists: Playlists can be nested under Categories and Platforms. Playlists cannot have any nested children (other Categories, Platforms, or Playlists). -
Big Box Crashing After Around 2 Minutes of scrolling....
Retro808 replied to Cnells2000's topic in Troubleshooting
Is this from manual scrolling or when leaving attract mode running? Also are you on latest beta or 13.19 stable release? If you are running VLC for the videos try changing to WMP. Please note LB and BB have setting for VLC/WMP in both. So if the issue is in BB then change that option in the BB settings. If attract mode there was a prior post about this issue. The database change will not affect BB since LB typically only accessed the DB when pulling meta data during import or when updating game data. -
Ae you running LB Betas? The latest beta does have a new TeknoP emulator profile to assist in setting up TeknoP. It could be related to that. I have not tested the new feature since my TP has been set up for years.

At the top of the forum under Help & Support you will find the Feature Request option. It leads to a secondary site you need to sign up for. Currently I am not aware of any setting that allows more than one default rom path per platform.
-
Did you download LB from the link below or somewhere else? If not from our website directly. I would not use that file. https://www.launchbox-app.com/download
-
You can delete it if you do not need it.
-
If you used the Mame Full Rom Set import option on the old version just run the Full Set Importer on the new set of roms. No need to delete anything. LB will parse the data against the new rom set.
-
LB natively does not support a marquee view which would include images or videos, but BB does support marquee views for both images and videos. The BB Default theme has a marquee specific view for both platform level and game level. The marquee view has some fallbacks in place that will play videos, then fall back to images. I believe there may be a plugin that allows marquees to be shown while using LB.

Your Mame rom set being old is not what the error is concerned with. It is the actual Mame executable. Really old versions of Mame will not accept that LB command line. For keyboard mapping if you are talking about mapping for controls while playing a game that is all done in each unique emulator. LB and subsequently BB if you get premium license only maps controls for moving around inside the UI and for starting/exiting a game.
-
What version of Mame are you running? The "-keyboard" is a command line LB sends Mame and if you are running a very old version of Mame then Mame throw that error as very old versions of Mame do not understand the command line. You have 2 options: 1. In LB go to >Tools >Manage >Emulators and edit Mame. Then in the first page that opens look for the Default Command line section and remove "-keyboardprovider dinput". Then save and close. 2. Is update your Mame version and your Mame roms. This is what I would recommend. Get rid of outdated Mame. Newer would be better, especially if you plan to build your library. However, if you are content then use what you want.

Go to settings in BB and change the default startup view. In BB >Settings >Options >Views >Default Startup View (change this field to the view option you want BB to startup with.
-
The Media Refresh option only updates the image cache LB uses to load images faster. Did you tell LB to download image when you imported the roms? What you can do is while in LB click on one game in your Mame/Arcade platform and then CTRL+A to select all. Then up on the top menu go to >Tools >Download >Update Media and Metadata for Selected Games. Then follow the prompts to select the image types you want downloaded.

Open in Windows your \Launchbox\Data\Platforms folder. If you have any extra xaml files in there that are backups or copies of the original platform xaml files this can cause the disappearing games issue. Those need to be moved outside the \Data folders.

Yeah, I should have been more exact. Can see how it might confuse if the whole context was not read. The original post was about doing media downloads.

LB does not do video marquees which is what was being asked. LB only has marquee images. Check the downloads section. I did not look much but here is a link for some Arcade marquee videos.
