  1. As promised:

When you copy and rename the Default theme open the GameDetailsView.xaml. To get rid of the ClearLogo over the upper art image and the Text default fallback scroll to line and delete lines 1066 through 1188.

Additionally to remove from the Platform level image open PlatformFIlterDetailsView.xaml and delete lines 250-311

I've finally completed my Mame arcade set after struggling my way slowly through it.  And now I have a new question :)

I went to add in my amiga collection and its at the point where I want to select an emulator to import it with.  I did it earlier, entered in FS-UAE as I think that seems to be the best one to use, it accepted it but then I cancelled because I wanted to move the folder elsewhere before importing.  A backup if you will as I'm a paranoid person.  Anyway I did it again but this time it doesnt seem to want the emulator.  I lead it to the path where the executable is and I get this message-

I'm not sure what I'm not seeing since it did work the first time.

It is talking about the "Associated Platforms" tab. Anytime you add a new emulator you need to add which platform or platforms in LB will use it. Just click the Associated Platforms tab and type in the name of your platform. It must match exactly what you named the platform in LB.

Wow.. Did I do something to offend you? I was only asking a question.. I will figure it out on my own.. Thanks anyway

    You can lock the thread..

You did nothing to offend me as I am not offended at all. Not sure why you are responding the way you are so I will not make any assumptions.

Look back at your original post. You asked a specific question. It was “is it possible” and I responded to that question. You did not ask “how” so I did not respond how.

Then your second posts said you already knew what I told you. I had no clue you knew that because your original question lead me to believe you did not to which I simply advised why I answered the way I did. I then gave you an example of what to look for since I am not near my pc. Even said it would be a day before I could look directly for you.

Sorry to say but you took all this the wrong way.

If you are not happy that I was answering and trying to help then not much more I can do.

Yes i know that..What lines do will i remove?

Well, you did not ask that so I answered what you asked.

Not near my pc so not 100% sure on the line. In the GameDetailsView.xaml see if you can find a reference to a binding for ClearLogo. If you see one try commenting it out or deleting it. Would be another day before I can directly look on one of my cabinets to confirm.

  5. Yes, but you would need to copy the Default theme folder and name that copy something new. Then you can edit that one. The Default theme cannot be directly edited as it will always revert to stock code to ensure LB always has a working theme.

Version 13 of LaunchBox and the import ist still a great pain in the ass.

Not sure what exactly is the pain as LB is quite simple. We even have a youtube videos to show how easy things can be.

Cannot import any roms for MAME.
Tools > import > ROM Files > Select Folder ...

The Window "the wizard is ready to import the below games" is empty.

What exaclty for Mame are you trying to import? Full Mame rom set or a random selection of games.

Perhaps provide screen caps of each step you are taking so we can see exaclty what is wrong.

  7. What do you mean exactly? Is it not downloading any screenshots when you do a bulk game download or is it only downloading a some images? Also are you talking about from the LB GameSB or Emumovies?

There are some settings that you could have checked or unchecked so clarifying would make it easier to determine the issue.

  8. If you bought a harddrive and it is one loaded with roms that was prebuilt with LB or another front end you should contact the seller. Not much we do here to help with those pre-loaded drives. Anyone selling roms is a scammer.

I would recommend trying to run the game directly within the emulator first to see if it works. If not, its a rom and emulator set-up issue.

Same issue 2 years later for me, any fixes??

Not confident anything needed to be fixed considering only 3 users on just under 3 years reported an issue. So doubtful it was anything our 2 devs looked at or have been able to replicate.

Would be helpful if someone provided some more details

    Such as:

    What theme are you using?

Does it happen with different themes?

Does it happen every time or intermittently?

Does rebooting BB bring the images back?

Are all your video drivers and Windows updates current?

These are just a few off the top of my head so any other details you might feel relevant would help.

Not sure I completely follow. What text aren't you wanting displayed? Realistically if it's in a themed view a theme could be made to do so.

I think the text option to display the text on the box or not within LB.

will the lunch box crew develop a way cuz i want to build a lunchbox arcade pedestal and i think something like a proper shut down icon is needed within the frontend  to avoid system errors on one's pc,becuz when i build my arcade i dont want the windows desktop pop i want the view and feel of a real arcade  its kinda lame to have come to the desktop screen to press shutdown .i saw the option on a other system its kriss coolmod retro beast the shutdown icon  is within frontend.still i say excellent work to luchbox owner  and thank you all for lunch box its a excellent frontend and very user friendly.am not going nowhere else .just a tip this is how you get a shutdown icon on desktop screen right  click  then go on New  click shortcut type shutdown / s/t 0  then the next button .then right click on the shutdown shortcut click properties  then click change icon then choose the red power off icon then press apply and then press ok. now your shutdown is icon  on your screen just double click on it.you all welcome bye bye

Not to over complicate things but why not just back into the main settings screen and hit “Shutdown”. Works, nice and simple. Never have to worry about someone accidentally hitting a shutdown button combo or hitting the shutdown icon if one existed. 7 years of BB in my cabs and this way has worked easily and flawlessly.

  12. Does it only do that with the theme you created?

If so could be an issue with how the theme was made. Maybe something incorrect with how you set an animation (looks like something is not being called correctly or being missed). Troubleshooting the CTC you would need to be on his patreon site. That is where he is primarily responding to help questions.

Installing on a system with no games yet crashes when detecting games initially and renders unusable. Maybe that auto import should be off or a prompt..

Auto import for what? The only auto option is for store front ends and that is only on when you actually end up setting up the pc store front ends.

LB will not auto import any emulated systems. That all has to be manually done.

    1 hour ago, JJFM said:

when manually adding emulators and using retroarch template the exe listed is wrong and for a different emulator.n.

If you are manually adding the emulators you have to manually point to your Retroarch.exe path. The manual option does not auto fill the path. It will auto-fill the Associated Platforms tab for common platform names and cores. The only time the .exe path would be populated is if you choose the option to have LB download and set-up Retroarch.

Its right when I try launching the game

Yeah I get that. That was not what I was specifically asking about. I needed you to clarify if it is when you launch the game through LB or when launching directly through TeknoParrot.

If it is when launching through LB then try opening Teknoparrot and launching the game directly in the emulator. If it does the same that way then it is not a LB issue and is a rom/Teknoparrot issue (possibly a setting in TP you need to adjust).

Hey everyone, need a little help.

Ive tried many different files but none of them will actually launch. Teknoparrot gets stuck on the launcg screen, the DOS screen does not open and the game does not launch. Has anyone had/resolved this issue before?

Is this issue when running through LB or when trying to launch the game directly in TeknoParrot without LB?

I found what the problem is.. just not sure how to fix it

When I have imported the games using the automation, the games names were created with a -1 at the end, but the nintendo 64 game files all have a 01 at the end, instead. so the import script did not get the names correctly. I will need to import them again and see how it can generate with the actual rom names

Did you have LB move the roms? The only scenario where LB would rename a rom during import is if you chose the option to "Move roms" and then LB would append the game file name if it was moving it into a folder and the rom was already there.

    Hello all,

First of all, I am a noob.

So, I understand how the images work for launchbox,  I have them working properly for Arcade and I know how to manually add media, if needed.

Now, for some reason that I cannot understand, Images are not showing for Nintendo 64. Not in Launchbox and not in BigBox. Added as Retroarch emolator. the games work fine.

I have tried to manually copy images to the folders under Launchbox/images/Nintendo 64 but still that does not work. Its the fist time I am using the retroarch emulator with launchbox, are the images stored in a different way?

The emulator has nothing to do with LB and the images.

If you named named you images correctly and placed them in the correct folders try selecting all the N64 games and refreshing the image cache (Select all games and hit F5).

I think an option to show what Physical Games you own on a platform would be a nice idear .so you could se the Physical games you own from a rom file

In LB you can create a custom field that can be displayed in the Game Details panel. Just right click a game and choose to edit metadata. You will see a tab called "Custom Fields". In a blank cell give the field a name. Then in the "Value" field give it a value to populate. Once you do one game you can then mass select games and use the Bulk Edit function to update all those games to have the custom field.

To display that data you can either have it displayed as a text in Game Details:

In LB go >Tools >Options >Game Details page then check the box for "Custom Fields".

Additionally you can use the plugin below to create a custom badge that can de displayed next to the game box to show a badge for all games you own.

I'm not confident in what I did do, but I think I'll be fine with leaving the extra arcade listing there :)

Question regarding backgrounds for games.  I'm sorting out the older Game and Watch games.  I've downloaded the custom artwork and placed them in the Mame folder.  When I launch them in launchbox I get the game as it should look, which is great.  But its just the screen and nothing else.  I recall playing with Mame a while back and I could choose to load it up in screen only or showing the whole front plate of the handheld with the screen, the dpad and buttons etc.  Launchbox seems to only do the game screen.  The art is in the files for the faceplate to show so I was wondering is there a way I can select how to load it up or am I fixed only with the screen and no faceplate option.

Did you do what I mentioned in my prior post? The last part of my posts says you have to launch a game and select the view to use the lay file/image.

The only thing I can think of, is by default, after you delete all games of a platform, the platform category defaults to ALL and that in turn killed my collection where somehow it deleted the full selection (a bit dangerous really to have ALL in the list) I'll disable that now.

While you are correct, that if you delete all games from a platform LB removes that platform then it sets the view to "All" level, that in itself does not then delete the whole library. I have done this numerous times and even retested it before this post. Something else had to happen. Typically when we see missing games or data the user has other platform files in the \Data\Platform folder that are causing issues. Some users make duplicate or backups of those \Data\Platform files and leave them in that folder and causes issues similar to this. Another common issue for this is a user using a sync or cloud service and that was causing sync issues.

Thankfully the casino ones and the pex files delete now so I can fix everything in my own time.  Two questions, one simple one scary...  With the game and watch games they dont look complete.  Like backgrounds missing etc.  A while back I spent time and gathered all the panels and stuff so the games look exactly like the handheld version.  I know how to make them work if I'm using MAME, but where do I put these folders/pictures when using launchbox?

     for this?

The game artwork for Game & Watch goes in your Mame's \artwork folder where you have Mame.exe located. So if you have the mame emulator files located in a \Mame folder the artwork goes \Mame\artwork. Each game should have its own folder of image data.

Example: Game & Watch Ball files would be located in \Mame\artwork\gnw_ball\[All image and lay files]

You just need to make sure Mame knows to use them when you launch the game. LB has nothing to do with those files. If they are not showing when you launch a game hit "Tab" on your keyboard and then in the "video options" make sure to select the proper view (see image below). Depending on how many images you have and how the lay file is set up you may have multiple options.

    Tanks Guys!

Normally I change some images I don't use the default LB directories
Do you have any tips on which folders I should keep backed up?

If the files you changed are not in the actual theme's folder you are ok. When you update a theme within BB theme manager it specifically tells you that the entire theme's folder will be deleted. It only deletes the theme's folder folder. So if you keep custom images located somewhere else. you are good.

Plus, if you do like @JoeViking245 mentioned and have backups turned on in LB you will have a copy in your backups history.
