  1. First you have to set up your controls in the RetroArch Settings > Input > Port 1 Controls. After that start your game and press F1. This is the Flycast menu . Then find: Controls > Port 1 Controls. Here you can remap your controls but the Flycast core has the controls for most games pre-configured, including the games you mentioned. (At least for my Xbox One controller.)

    Actually i'm just testing here and i'm seeing a issue. It works the first time you launch the game, but if you go back into the edit again after exiting the game the command has gone.

    In the past I had the same problem when using the PCSX2 configurator plugin, so I don't use that plugin anymore. With the plugin removed from LaunchBox the custom command-line parameters persist for me.

    Do you have the following?

    - In Demul > Config > Plugins and Paths, add the paths to your (naomi) roms and (naomi) bioses.

    From my understanding, if you use an Nvidea card, you need to run Yuzu as Admin so it can utilize the threaded optimization features via the Nvidea Control Panel??? Has it changed?

    No, I don't think that it has changed. But of course you don't NEED Yuzu to run as admin for it being able to run. But I have found a way to run Yuzu as admin, without UAC prompt and with an exit script. First I added an "Yuzu Admin" emulator to LaunchBox. This is just an AutoHotKey script. When I start a Switch game in LaunchBox, LaunchBox passes the rom name to this "Yuzu Admin" script. This "Yuzu Admin" script then copies the rom name to a second script and after that the second script gets executed as a scheduled task with admin privileges. So that second script is elevated and starts Yuzu with command-line parameters and rom name. Also that second script contains the Yuzu exit script so I can exit Yuzu with Escape. All this is a bit complicated and maybe there are easier ways to accomplice the same.

    Just a reminder that this thread is not for feature requests. The poll items are based off feature requests submitted to the bitbucket page.

    I don't want to be difficult about what I want to say, but I am really surprised integrated controller mapping isn't on the list. To be fair, I don't have a bitbucket account so I did not request this feature myself. But this has been requested many many times over the years (at least on the forums) and really would add to the overall usability of LaunchBox and BigBox. And to you @Lordmonkus, how many questions or assists did you have about people wanting to add controller mappers as additional apps? I mean, maybe implementing controller mapping isn't easy. But it would simplify things massively for the user.

    After doing some testing I think that it isn't so much the ahk that is causing my issue with the shutdown screen, it is something to do with the way the ahk is loading the bezel and the emulator. I am only running into these issues with the handful of NES (using Mesen launched via ahk), SNES (using SNES9x launched via ahk) and PS1 (duckstation launched via ahk)

    The way the LaunchBox startup/shutdown screens and pause menu work, I would avoid loading emulators/roms via scripts or batchfiles as much as possible. If you use scripts or additional apps check if there's nothing that steals focus. For example start apps minimized, or in the system tray.

    1 hour ago, Moleburt said:

    Also, ticking the "hide everything not in exclusive fullscreen" box, creates the same issue as setting the load delay to high, the bezel loads, but the game is behind everything.

    Ticking that box only works if the emulator itself uses fullscreen exclusive mode.

    *Edit*

    The way the LaunchBox startup/shutdown screens and pause menu work, clashes with bezels. That's why bezels were never implemented into LaunchBox.

    I do see shutdown screens working, but you would need to set the Startup Load Delay higher than 0 seconds

    I like to add that for me shutdown screens always work when "Hide All Windows that are not in Exclusive Fullscreen Mode" is ticked. However when it isn't ticked the shutdown screens sometimes don't work for me either. I don't think it is a bug , but just how LaunchBox handles Startup/Shutdown screens. I like how RocketLauncher handles Startup and Shutdown screens: set up the window- / class name to wait for or exit.

    (worst case scenario I just play without the metadata ?)

    When your game is imported, right click the game > Edit. Delete the version number from the title and click "Search for Metadata".

    I forgot to mention. After renaming you can still download media. Go to Media > Images and click "Download Media".

    Don't I need to change some pathing within the DuckStation.exe if I move all of the folders from "Documents" to DuckStation?

    Such as: Memory Card Settings > Memory Card Directory > path to the DuckStation folder. I'm pretty sure I'd need to change that? Anything else?

    No. Without portable.txt DuckStation assumes your DuckStation user folders are in Documents. With portable.txt DuckStation assumes the user folders are in the same folder as the executable.

    6 hours ago, MapleLeaf said:

    I just don't wanna break things when I move the following folders: cache, cheats, covers, dump, inputprofiles, memcards, savestates, screenshots, shaders, textures etc.

    There are more emulators that let you have the user folders in the same folder as the executable via a portable.txt. The presence of portable.txt makes the emulator... well portable.

    6 hours ago, MapleLeaf said:

    Also, I just noticed an available update upon loading DuckStation, if I move everything and create that .txt file, is it going to create the folders back in Documents again?

    No.

    First create a portable.txt in your main DuckStation folder. Then start DuckStation. It should create the user folders in the main DuckStation folder. Then exit DuckStation and move (and overwrite) the user folders from Documents to you main DuckStation folder.

    Tip. If you're new to an emulator, or unsure of what you are doing. Always make a backup!

    Since DuckStation installs some things under Windows "Documents" like memcards and savestates -- if I want to make my LB portable, when I move LB to an external HDD to a new computer, will I need to start over with DuckStation and extract / set it up again?

    Put a .txt file called portable.txt in your DuckStation folder. Then move the folders from Documents to your existing DuckStation folder.

  12. 13 minutes ago, MapleLeaf said:

    Ok, that sounds better. So if I set a specified config for "FF7" once, the emulator will always remember that game-specific config even if I swap to another game or close the emulator down? That's acceptable lol.

    Yes, that's correct. Just make sure you save your custom config as a new config and give it a name.

  13. 34 minutes ago, MapleLeaf said:

    Ok, I if I understand this correctly....I need to set and save new controller profiles for every single game under: Settings > Controller Settings, then right click the game and select the saved controller profile from: "Input Profile For Bindings".

    As far as I can tell only for the games you want a custom controller config for.

    34 minutes ago, MapleLeaf said:

    Was hoping to be able to access and save game-specific controls in-game and have those changes save indefinitely to that title--similar to the way MAME does it. The current controller system doesn't really mesh well with LB as you'll have to take the game out of full screen mode to access the applicable menu(s).

    You could set up a hotkey to pull up the menu in-game or use the nogui version for that.

    *Edit*

    To be clear. You only have to set up your game to use a specific controller config once.

  14. As I use the qt version of DucksStation, the following applies to the qt version of DuckStation. Maybe something similar applies for the nogui version:

    Open duckstation-qt-x64-ReleaseLTCG and go to Settings > Controller Settings. Choose a controller type and set up and save (New...) your profile. Then go to Settings > Games List Settings and point to your ps1 games folder. When your games list is populated right click a game > Properties > User Settings (Input) > Input profile For Bindings. Then select your profile.

    That AutoHotKey is amazing!

    Xenia can go fullscreen using the command-line parameter:  --fullscreen

    Of course you can use an AutoHotKey script, but a command-line parameter is always going to be more reliable.

    Ah if needed i can convert back from rvz to iso? which is the tool to do that?

    Also Dolphin. xD

    To add some information: In Dolphin you can select multiple games to batch convert as long as those games are in a disc format. (No WiiWare, Virtual Console)

    Do you know if Dolphin Ishiiruka too support rvx format file?

    Sorry, I have never used Dolphin Ishiiruka.

    is it possible to reduce the size wihtout losing anthing?  I'm using Dolphin emulator,

    You can compress your GameCube and Wii games with Dolphin. In Dolphin right click a game > Convert file. I myself use the .rvz format because it is lossless and can be converted back to the original iso without losing anything. You can choose a compression method and a compression level, but the default settings are fine. And yes, you do have to point LaunchBox to your new files.

    Also, why would upgrading launchbox affect my xpadder auto-profiles.

    Because it very likely isn't. In my first comment I explained that the .exe for BigBox is in the LaunchBox\Core folder. (That changed a couple of versions ago). Lots of people get confused about that location as there is also a BigBox.exe in the LaunchBox folder. And mame recently changed the name of the mame executable. If you use auto-profiles, that can be reasons why xpadder won't switch profiles. Because it does not detect BigBox nor Mame starting. Go one step further. If xpadder does not detect the application of your auto-profile, it will likely switch to a default profile. (That's why I asked you to test with auto-profiles completely deactivated). I appreciate you appreciating my help. I don't know all the answers, but it is a bit difficult as you give very little feedback with what you have or haven't done to test. BTW. I used to use xpadder myself, but I ditched xpadder for JoyToKey a couple of years ago because I never got mapping to the xbox guide button working ingame. (And that's a common issue with xpadder).

  19. 2 hours ago, talonted68 said:

    It's not a profile issue.  I have tested selecting profiles manually.

    That's what I was saying. If you use auto-profiles, have you checked your auto-profile settings. An auto-profile gets triggered if xpadder detects an application. If in the auto-profile settings the path to, or the name of, your applications executables are wrong, no profile (or the wrong profile) is applied. So again, if you use auto-profiles, have you tested with auto-profiles completely deactivated? FYI, I use JoyToKey and for me JoyToKey never stopt working.

    For ease of use I would like to not have to remember to press escape x2 every time I want to load a different ROM.

    RetroArch natively closes with the escape key, so it should close by pressing escape once. If that doesn't work you can copy/past the following autohotkey script to: LaunchBox > Tools > Manage Emulators > RetroArch > Running AutoHotKey Script tab.

    $Esc::
    {
    WinClose, ahk_exe retroarch.exe
    }

    or:

    $Esc::
    {
    WinClose, ahk_exe {{{StartupEXE}}}
    }

    How do I force LaunchBox to use a single instance of RetroArch? As I'm swapping between games in the LaunchBox library I'm ending up with dozens of RetroArch instances in my Windows 10 Taskbar, each running a different rom.

    If you start a game, do you also exit the game? You can exit a game by pressing the escape key or using the LaunchBox controller automation to set up a button (or button combination) on your controller to exit a game.
