  1. I got it working... don't quite understand why. So I took the DOA6.xml from the newest install of TP and placed it in my older TP/user profiles folder. (TP ver 1.0.0.609)
    In LB I point to this XML, but launch the game with the newest TP... and the game starts. Only issue I see so far is esc isn't working now but Alt-F4 does. And I get error nag screen after the game closes. I have a running ahk script to input 'enter' 5 seconds after the game exits, to close out this nag screen. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not. If you know a way to disable error messages in TP please share.

    My games work fine with that version of TeknoParrot. Although I don't have DOA6

    Have you set up the game to use that particular install of TeknoParrot?

    Strange, must be the game itself, It just started working recently so maybe the next TP update will fix it. At the same time Jconfig with APM3 emulators are being worked on for this game. Guilty Gear Strive works in this manner. If I can get these newer arcade rips to run without TP then I am all for it. The older installs of TP work with the games I have them assigned to so I don't want to break anything. DOA6 is assigned to the latest TP.... I will test other games on it to see if there are any issues. Thanks for the reply!

  3. Hey guys... the latest TeknoParrot ver. 1.0.0.643 is not launching games. (I only tested DOA6)

    I have multiple TP emulators installed for various different games. To play the newer apm3 games you need the latest TP. I added the newest version as a separate emulator with all the same options and command line arguments but the game only opens up the UI and wont launch the game. The game loads just fine from TP manually. I did try ticking and unticking all options as well as adding --profile=DOA6.xml in game settings etc....

    Anyone else having this problem?

  4. Any luck on this project? Would be nice to have all boxart and logos for this set, I seen a couple Youtube videos of people scrolling through all the indie games on their xbox's. If they could grab them off of their consoles and zip up the images and post them that would be great! I did ask a couple youtubers in the comments section to no avail. Any how thanks for your efforts!

  5. Really like the new random navigation sounds in the latest update. When starting BigBox you will get a random startup soundbyte which is good. But there is an issue that if you have platform videos those videos (with audio) will start playing at the same time resulting in 2 audio sources playing at the same time, obviously doesn't sound good. Is there a way  to mute any videos until the startup sound byte completes?

    Hi @drewjbx,

    This is actually possible using auto-populate playlist. You just need to create a new playlist, click on the Auto-Populate tab, and add: Favorite - Is True

    If you do it this way, any game that you flag/unflag as a favorite will get added/removed to this playlist automatically.

    Couple extra things to note in the Edit Playlist window:

    • Using the Parents tab, allows you to put that playlist anywhere in your platform category hiearchy
    • Using the Sort Title field in the Details tab allows you to position the playlist in your list without needing to add an underscore, like I see you did.

    There's no current way to hide a playlist the way you are wanting. Feel free to make a request in the Request a Feature link in the Help & Support menu above. However, any auto-populate playlists won't show up in the menu in your screenshot, so that would definitely help you out.

    Ok thanks for the suggestions I will try them out. And it would be nice to hide playlists, more specifically hide 'create new playlists' within BigBox. Things could get messy. I have not tried the lockout method, will take a look. Those familiar with some of the Pi3/4 builds (batocera, recalbox, etc) they have 'Kiosk' and 'kids' modes to limit any users that can mess with the settings.

    Anyhow, IMO, editing/adding to/ creating playlists should only be done in LB.. not in BB. I will post a request in the Request a feature as you suggested.

    Does anyone know how to make gigawing vertical instead of horizontal using teknoparrot?  Makes the game unplayable for me and have seen video of it playing vertical from teknoparrot so I know it's possible.

    With all these 'teknoparrot' games there are often alternatives. With Gigawings.. that is a TaitoTypeX game. If you have the correct set it will auto rotate for you and you can set controls via a pad config app within the directoty. I can't tell you where to grab the game but there is some good info at emuline.org. Also here is the dir structure.... the custom exe "GWG_Launcher.exe" is what launches the game. No teknoparrot needed.

  8. Is it possible to hide playlists, in BigBox in particular. I made a 'Favorites' playlist to access any favorite tagged games globally. But wanting to hide everything else mostly to prevent other users adding games to the wrong playlists on accident... or on purpose. Maybe that is something that should be added... a favorites view that displays all your tagged favorites system wide.

  9. Liking the RetroArch intergration and game suggestions... I however am still hoping for better marquee image support for those with streched LCD screens for marquees on an arcade cabinet. I know I am the minority here but we need atleast the ability to use a default system image for large library platforms.

  10. So I got this game working with the latest Teknoparrot, I use a seperate TP with a specific SegaTools set to run the game. I use the same command line --profile= for launching of the game via the teknoparrot game XML.  When launching from launchbox it will just open teknoparrot but not launch the game. Anyone know how I can fix this. (all other assigned TP games launch as they should)

  11. Its been awhile since I have messed with my cab that has a stretched LCD for a marquee display. Retro808 helped me to get the images fit correctly awhile back. All works fine except for games that dont have a marquee image it either gets filled with boxart or clear logo. Is there a way to put a default image to cover a platform? (particulary platforms with huge game libraries)

  12. Did you ever figure this out? I have recently started a fresh build and just want some simple and clean themes. I noticed this as well. For example to test I created a Mario collection and put a Mario image in

    - Images\Playlists\Mario Collection\Fanart

    When viewing in BigBox only the default fanart image from each platform will be displayed rather then the one I designated for the Mario playlist. So scrolling through a mario collection... selecting mario bros from NES will display the default NES background, Super mario from SNES will display the default SNES background and so on.

    Is there anyway to display the fanart background of playlists maybe by some xml modification?

  13. Does anyone know a way to launch hotd3 directly? It requires starting hod3pc.exe from a launcher. I thought maybe an AHK scripit could press 'enter' but the launcher does not accept keyboard inputs. You have to make selections with the mouse. You could do this with your lightgun but once games starts from the launcher LB/BB 'quits game'.  Would like a clean launch of this game if possible.

    Are you sure you need to do that with the latest version. I am using SM64 and it launches fullscreen without using a AHK file. All I need now is to figure out how to close it :)

    I'm not sure.. will have to look at it again

    Where can I put this at? Create BAT files?

    Create the AHK and put the code I used into it. Be sure to edit your path accordingly. (works same as BAT file but has ahk extension)

    Go to setting of the game and point Application path to the AHK file. I put the AHK into the game directory itself.

    Honestly, I have not messed with it in a while. Issue I was having is the LB Arcade - Marquee images defaults to a users Box - Front image priority is a marquee is not present and no matter what I tried it always displayed either the existing marquee image or the priority fallback. Even if I coded in a FallBackValue it still gave LB built in priorities preference. Hopefully next poll go round Marquee update can get voted more and it gets some updates.

    I can get it to work if Arcade - Marquee images are in a custom folder location, but that is just an unneeded workaround. I will mess with it again. Maybe I have learned more in the time and can get it to work.

    Ah ok, hope an official update will address this someday. If you do come up with a solid workaround please share, thanks for the update.

    Well I got it working. Still have not figured out a few things I want it to do.

    My hope was to have it use an existing marquee image and if one does not exist use the static background option. Problem is the way marquee support is coded into LB/BB, if a marquee image is not present it will default to your box priorities. So if a marquee is not present it reverts there and the code will always have an image to show which means the fallback is never triggered to the static image option. So for now I have to forego the existing marquee option and just use static image. Hoping Jason one day adds image priorities for marquee images.

    My goal is to release it on the forum, but not until I have it working right.

    @Headrush69 I will see if I can remote into my pc and get a video of it. Away from the house for a couple days helping family get land taken care of.

    Hey Retro.. did you ever get this ironed out? Hoping to get marquee image displays fine tuned as you have mentioned....  with use of a static background if a marquee image doesn't exist and the option of having a background static image and being able display clear logo image on top of it.

  18. Hey so I will be importing a full non merged set (221). LB has a nice feature that will allow you to export/move known ROM files to new folder. In doing this it will copy only the roms that LB has in it's database. Out of 35,000 MAME files you will end up with about 2800 to 3000 roms and save yourself a lot of space. ('Working' CHD's will need to be picked manually). The problem is LB will not export/move the clones only parents. Does anyone know a way LB will export/move the clones as well (also known as additional apps). Clones can be useful such as Simpsons 4P and 2P for example.

  19. So... in BigBox settings you can select your default joystick, in my case I have 4 of them and it will cycle through all of them.

    So this is something @Jason Carr would have to implement I assume.

    Default settings for InputBindings.xml (does not specify joystick number, only defaults to 1 active controller)

      <InputBinding>
        <InputAction>LaunchBoxShowPauseScreen</InputAction>
        <ControllerHoldBinding>Button7</ControllerHoldBinding>
        <ControllerBinding>Button10</ControllerBinding>
      </InputBinding>

    Need something like this

      <InputBinding>
        <InputAction>LaunchBoxShowPauseScreen</InputAction>
        <ControllerBinding>Joystick2Button9</ControllerBinding>
      </InputBinding>

  20. I stopped being lazy and found the solution.. for anyone that might need the info. Just create your own AHK and point to it in launchbox.

    Run, mario.exe, E:\Super Mario 64 Remaster

    SleepAmount = 50

    WinWaitActive , Super Mario 64 PC-Port

    Send !{Enter}

    • Thanks 1
  21. The recently released Mario 64 doesn't start in full screen, even if adding the 'fullscreen true' in sm64config.txt. So only way is hitting Alt+Enter. Is there a way to add this to an individual game exe after it is launched? Or a custom AHK script?
