In the links below this video you can download a .bat file you just need to edit that to point to you game txt file

    mine looks like this

    Daphne.exe %1 vldp -fullscreen -x 640 -y 480 -framefile "H:\Launchbox\Daphne\Daphne\%1\%1.txt"

then run the .bat file as the emulator

be sure to add 'Start' at the beginning of the line or the command prompt window will retain focus on top of whatever game you are loading... atleast for daphne singe. I use RL for regular daphne for the bezels

  2. Laserdisc Game Marquees

    View File

Here is a collection of familiar Daphne and ALG marquees, but also added some fan made singe games as well such as Samurai Jack, TitanAE, Star Blazers, etc...

Also for American Laser Games I added fanmade singe shooters Platoon and Freedom Fighter. And while I was at it... I did the ActionMAX games, hell why not...

  3. Arcade Rip Marquees

    View File

Marquee artwork for those with stretch LCD displays. I decided to share my personal collection of arcade rips from TTX, Teknoparrot, etc. I just put all in one zip file as I am not sure how I want to organize yet... games from TTX, RingEdge, RingWide, Lindbergh, Raw Thrills, GlobalVR, etc. There might be a few I need to update that look like ass, also will be adding more as I go along.

@drewjbxThe other thing to test is if you have the "Keep desktop resolution in fullscreen" checked.

I ended up switching to Hitari and it works pretty good, no focus issues. I like Steem because it will zoom in the screen to fill your display, also you can set hotkeys. But cannot figure out the focus problem. Will probably try to setup Hitari within RA soon. Thanks for the help!

I use another method to import my Steem games:

I open Steem, load both disks (if it is a two disk game), set up any macros and other settings (machine type & memory for example) and then save a config (ex. Cadaver.ini)

Then i import the config into Launchbox instead of the actual games. That way each game can have it's own custom ST settings and it is easier to manage.

hello, I know this is an old thread... thanks to proghodot for the video. However when launching games from LB the Atari game comes up but then loses focus behind LB black screen. If I mouse click it I will get the game over dialog and steem will be running in the background. I tried all the different options in the startup screen and no help. Only way is to disable it all together. If anyone knows a way to get it working with the startup screen please share.

Hi @drewjbx, where are you seeing it? What are you typically doing when it pops up? Does LaunchBox continue to operate properly after closing the dialog?

I have been updating LB as of late.. before I wasn't seeing this dialog.  Notable changes I have done lately is adding marquee artwork for systems under the default folders as well as platform marquees under 'banner'. I have a stretched LCD for my marquee so I have been focusing a lot on this... Retro808 has been a great help getting images displayed correctly on my specific screen size. (Hoping for complete marquee support with image priorities soon!)

Not sure if this is causing the error dialog but it only happened since incorporating marquee artwork. Another thing I have done is I removed all background music (found it a little distracting while viewing game preview vids). I'm running Unified theme and only use boxart, logo, disc/cart, and marquee for artwork. So the error pops up in BigBox sometimes when scrolling through lists and also when in attract mode... but BigBox will still run after closing the dialog. (well actually clicking on BB brings focus back and the dialog still remains in background). If I have it happen again I'll see if I can close out the popup while BB is running. Thanks for chiming in.

    Thanks for following this up!!!

Just wanted to post this method works great for people that might be using Dfend for DosBox, thanks!

    Hey @Jason Carr and LB team;

I accidentally used the Sleep option in BB. After coming out of sleep mode and exiting BB, I'm getting an error saying my Launchbox/Data/Settings file is corrupt and LB cannot continue. It also says root element is missing. It asks to restore a backup, but I'm not sure how I can restore if I can't get into LB itself. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: Was able to just copy the files over from the Automatic backup zip, looks to be fixed. I took a look at a bunch of my XMLs and they had "Null" written all over them. Not sure what happened, but not a hard fix.

I believe I had a couple instances that this has happened awhile back... so I switched sleep to hibernate and it has not happened since. But I can't confirm sleep caused the corruption nor if hibernate fixes it....just so happens it hasn't happened since.

Hi, the latest version of LEDBlinky uses a more standard installation package, just make sure you point it to your current LEDBlinky folder. Although you can still rename mame collections to include "mame" in the name, it's no longer necessary; using the Controls Editor you can edit each emulator and set the "Emulator Is MAME" option.

    Perfect.. thankyou!

    Guys

As the heading would suggest I have a few working TAITO Type X games. They work great when launched from the TypeXtra emulator but I cannot get them to launch in Launchbox.

Any ideas on what my config should be?2.thumb.png.80ec64aa62d373ee77e5dbdc1b543edf.png1.thumb.png.91bd25c75a3da45c0d313cb7135fbe82.png

I'm not at all familiar with the Taito launcher. So from your pic it shows teknoparrot for your emulator.... there are a couple threads on here about setting up teknoparrot. You need to point to your TP profile xml files as the roms. Configure your TP as in the pic below. For some other TypeX games you might not need TP... but will launch directly from the EXE, just depends on the game and which version you have. Basically I had to configure most TP and TypeX games individually.

    Hi all!

With my family locked up at home for the foreseeable future, what better time to teach my kids about the wonders of retro gaming?!  I could use your help, but story time first...

I ordered a 5TB drive on through Home Arcade systems for $416 after reading that it included systems through PS2 preconfigured for LB and BB.  After waiting about a month and a half and getting various excuses the drive arrived.  However, both LB and BB were far from "preconfigured" - it was clear LB and BB were an afterthought, and it was primarily built for Hyperspin.

A few months later when I had the time to dedicate to the project again I reached out to the owner (who had sent me the earlier emails explaining delays) and explained that neither LB or BB were working.  He explained in his latest update both were working and there were a bunch of other features he was really excited about.  He asked that I buy the update package ($116) and he would send me the new drive.

A month later the updated drive arrived, except it was the original drive I mailed him - no update whatsoever.  After initially denying this, he eventually apologized and said I could mail it back to him and he update the drive and put me in the front of the queue.  After getting many excuses including exhaustion, surgery, vacations, and more I got the updated drive nearly three months after paying for the update.

Here's the rub - LB and BB were STILL not properly configured $530 later.  Many systems won't launch at all, some would launch with weird frames, and others would crash after exiting one game and attempting to start a second.   Hyperspin worked okay (far from perfect), but I bought it strictly for LB and BB.  So, so frustrating.

Since I have all the roms and art is there any chance someone here would be willing to help me by set up a clean, pre-configured LB and BB for an i3 using built in graphics and x360 controllers?  I was thinking I could send screenshots of the "arcade" directory so you would know how to path systems and roms.  Maybe trade files through Dropbox if necessary?

I'm happy to pay for your time and expertise!

Thanks for your time everyone, I truly appreciate it!

    All the best,

    Mike

well yah that's the risk of pre-configured drives, I would suggest take a look at the many video tutorials for setting up systems on launchbox. I would try doing 1 system to get the hang of it. Explore your drive to see the folder structure of where everything is.. roms, media, etc. Most likely you have a hyperspin folder and a Launchbox folder. Start launchbox and look at the top right corner, is your name displayed as the licensed user?  Anyhow l would start with some tutorial videos on setting up a system, once you get it down then it should be pretty straightforward on how to make it work right.

The latest version of LEDBlinky (7.0.4) includes an option to resolve the issue where LB/BB sends the GameQuit command immediately after starting a game which causes LEDBlinky to revert back to the front-end configuration while the game is still active. The workaround basically allows any emulator to be configured (using the Controls Editor) to ignore all GameQuit commands. The net effect is that LEDBlinky remains in the executing game configuration, and will continue to do so until any command other than GameQuit is received. When returning to the front-end, the game configuration will remain active until another event occurs (list scroll or change for example). It's not a perfect solution, but much easier to implement than using an AHK script or other methods.

Hello Arzoo, it's been a couple years since using your app.. Finally got my whole system transferred over from Hyperspin to BB. I have 2 questions.. I still have LED blinky 6.5, to upgrade to latest just drop system and exe files into existing folder? Also back in the HS days we had to rename any MAME collections with the word MAME in it for LED blinky to see the button configs. (Atari Classics MAME, Capcom Classics MAME, etc...) Is this still required?

Well I got it working. Still have not figured out a few things I want it to do.

My hope was to have it use an existing marquee image and if one does not exist use the static background option. Problem is the way marquee support is coded into LB/BB, if a marquee image is not present it will default to your box priorities. So if a marquee is not present it reverts there and the code will always have an image to show which means the fallback is never triggered to the static image option. So for now I have to forego the existing marquee option and just use static image. Hoping Jason one day adds image priorities for marquee images.

My goal is to release it on the forum, but not until I have it working right.

@Headrush69 I will see if I can remote into my pc and get a video of it. Away from the house for a couple days helping family get land taken care of.

OK will keep an eye out for that release, much appreciated. Something I noticed was if there is no marquee image BB will display the boxart in my case... something to do with the image priorities, for now maybe I can put just a clear logo.. will play around with it.

Straight back up here.  Can I get some glamour shots and information on the cabinet here?  It looks super juicy.

I actually built this a couple years ago.. got the design from chanceKJ's Flynn cabinet from arcadecontrols forum. I was running Hyperspin with HyperMarquee and LED Blinky but have fully switched to BB. Will be reskinning the cabinet soon with a new graphics theme. Using eclipse style RGB buttons from paradise arcades, also has cabinet RGB's in back, under CP, and at the bottom of the cab all controlled by a PacLED64. Obviously it runs a PC... but also a RaspberryPi with a USB hub switch to be able to use the same 4 player controls for each system. Has 2 Aimtracks with recoil and a Xbox360 controller receiver and Dolphin bar for all the console games that play better with a gamepad/wii-mote.  Something about personal arcades, seems I spend more time adding and tweaking than actually playing!

@drewjbx It would need to be coded to do that. I think I have one I made I used to use. Will check when I at back at the house.

cool, another scenario would be platforms that don't have any marquees for each game. Lets say OpenBor (I know a set has been done recently though)… in the gamelist it would make sense just to have a permanent marquee display of the platform you are viewing.

Also I know we talked about this awhile ago... being able to display the clear logo of the game on top of the default platform marquee image but I don't think that ever got implemented. (Hypermarquee/EDS does this... MUGEN below as example). With that being said I would settle for a default platform image.default.thumb.png.bf9d0c9316bbef3e9720e248f258c121.png1default.thumb.png.eb675bf23e2bf48b1cfcf928eb487b4c.png

Can you try the version I posted in my last response. That screen is a little different than mine it is actually not splitting the 1080 in half equally so it is not really showing at 540.

YES!! Thanks for the help... I wouldn't of been able to figure this out. Will keep testing different size images and see how it looks but so far so good! Next up.... LED blinky!

I was hoping to see the affect with you keeping the original size of the AF Alpha image. I know what the affect does per the code, but I needed to see how it looked on your screen so I could then know how to properly realign the canvas to get the bottom of the images to fit in the viewable area.

Ok I placed the original SF Alpha image back.... the "fill' tag actually does fill in the sides as pic shows below.
