Jason Carr
Thank you for this Craig! I should really add Rocket Launcher to the default list of emulator settings, even though it's not really an emulator.

craiganderson
for MAME (and a couple others)....you need to check the box at the end of the red arrow (see pic below) (ill go through and post the others when i have more time) (a few others are a little more tricky as well....like DAPHNE etc)

Hey Craig, Any advice as to where a noob can get guidance with setting up/integrating of Rocketlauncher with Launchbox? Cheers Chris C. The integration is very easy. The real trick is learning how to set up RocketLauncher. http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/forum.php http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/forum.php And then set up your Launchbox as shown in pics below. This is looking great and thanks for the guide. I am an experienced Rockelauncher user and I followed your instructions but when I try and load a game rocketlauncher gives an error saying that no default emulator is set in settings ini and I need to set one so rocketlauncher knows which module to use.. This is strange as there is default emulators set up for all systems and everything works perfectly in all my other frontends. Am I missing something here? cheers
craiganderson
If I remember correctly, that usually means that inside Rocketlauncher you need to make a selection at the end of the red arrow for whatever system you are trying to launch (see pic)

As I mentioned I have Rocketlauncher fully set up and working perfectly and all default emulators are already selected. Ive had a perfectly working RL/Hyperspn set-up now for many years but fancied trying something different :) I now have it working but had to enter the code as below. When I entered it as you had it, it kept throwing errors for no default emulator which was very strange. on the plus side it now works correctly using the code below. -f H:\LaunchBox\LaunchBox.exe -p RocketLauncherUI -s "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" -r
craiganderson
cool. glad it is working that way for you. that might be the "better" way for sure/....i was doing it my way purely on "trial and error"...and that what was working for me..... again....glad it is working for you -craig
tof
Hello craiganderson, that IS a huge collection :-) Can you please detail how you added future pinball artworks ? When I import tables, Launchbox grabs games artwork, not pinball table artworks... I couldn't find any tip in the forums about the way to da what you did, Thanks in advance for your time ! Styphelus
Nice to see you here Craiganderson. I was missing all your crazy systems. I too have been trying to setup some of the same systems (AAE, Vectrex, Dice, PC=Engine, PC-Engine-CD and so on) with mixed results. I think it's because I'm still learning the ins and out of this FE. The Launchbox Database needs a bit of an upgrade. Hopefully that will happen soon. SentaiBrad
PC Engine is TurboGrafx 16, PC Engine CD is TurboGrafx CD. If there is a default name in the drop down that's the bes possible scraping name.
Styphelus
Not for me they aren't and not for anyone who was previous using Hyperspin. Launchbox has a Nintendo Famicom and a Nintendo Entertainment System. How come? Aren't they the same? The TurboGrafx-16 library is much smaller than the PC-Engine library. I don't want my PC-Engine exclusive games on the Turbografx simply because they never came out on the Turbografx. I really don't want to get into a debate about this again. I also want my AEE and my Dice separate from my Arcade (Mame) and my Sega Mark III separate from my Sega Master System, and my Super Famicom separate from my SNES. I'm going to try a workaround tonight and see if the scraping will still work so i can have my systems the way I want them. Launchbox tapped into the hardcore gamers and collectors over at the Hyperspin forums and as such, we like things in a particular way. Emumovies and Rocketlauncher follow the same format as Hyperspin. Maybe that's the way it should be now that Launchbox is downloading content from Emumovies and will downloading content from Hyperspin in the very near future. SentaiBrad
We've been downloading from EmuMovies for a while, and the HyperSpin thing is not at all a thing we've decided on yet. They are the same system. We also haven't decided either way what we are doing yet, but that doesn't change that fact that they are the same.
Styphelus
That's your opinion. Obviously, CraigAnderson, Alexis524, me, and everyone over at the Hyperspin, Emumovies and Rocketluncher forums disagrees.
SentaiBrad
I never said it was set in stone, and yea we might choose to do it that way. In the end, we are more than likely choosing alternate naming for almost every category. So in the end, if you have it split it should scrape all the same. The reason why it's not a good idea to split them now is for scraping. Using a different name might get you some results, but for the most part it wont. So even if we merge them on the Database to keep things more clean, if you seperated them in LB either the scrape as or alternate naming scheme will fix that up and it wont matter what we have on our database in the end. DOS76
While technically they are the same they aren't the same. I think the easiest way to decide this matter may be to hold a poll and let the community decide how they want to handle these systems democratically. This would circumvent the endless back and forth of differing opinions and allow the majority of the community to decide the issue.
SentaiBrad
Derek, you are right. That's maybe the point I was trying to get across? The BitBucket is a testiment to that as is. We don't have anything set in stone.
Jason Carr
Yes, I think a democratic way of deciding this would be best. Though to be completely honest, the Hyperspin ways are probably *already* the democratic decisions. I am leaning heavily towards switching up the platforms to mostly match Hyperspin's, but if the community disagrees with this decision, of course I won't end up going that route. That said, going forward I am looking to take the strengths of the Hyperspin data approaches and combine them with the ease of use and openness of LaunchBox. So in time, we should have the best of both worlds.
