Has Anyone Made a racing Cab?

I haven't tested it personally but I have seen settings for force feedback wheels in the controller options for the Sega Model 2 emulator.

Now I have tried it a little a while back without force feedback and the wheel did work but if the force feedback works that would be really cool.

The wheel I tried it out with back when I did try it was the Logitech Momo wheel.

I've recently started converting an old Cruis'n USA cabinet into a multi-platform racing cabinet.

For a wheel, I'm currently using an old Logitech G25 but planning on upgrading to a Fanatec Clubsport for Christmas (still can't believe my wife approved it).

Following various tutorials online, I've managed to get MAME working with resistance (not true force feedback), Demul to handle a few Naomi and Naomi2 games (most importantly, Crazy Taxi), and M2 to round things out. Add in the various driving games I have through Steam and I've got a bunch of fun to play games.

Right now, I'm using a wireless keyboard to launch all the games one at a time.

My goal is to get a Big Box theme up and running where I can use either the wheel or the d-pad on the shifter to navigate through all the games. They seem to work when I use the keyboard but I haven't been able to get Big Box to recognize the wheel yet. I'm hoping the Fanatec wheel will provide better compatibility for the front end so I can put the keyboard away.

I've played around with the cabinet some more and gotten distracted by spending most of my time playing games rather than working on the front end.

Sunday is looking like I'll have some time available. Let's see if I can manage the willpower to spend time working on the front end rather than playing games.

For the record, I'm borrowing an Oculus Rift from a buddy and trying to get as much experimentation as possible done before I have to give it back. Turns out maintaining a high frame rate is key to this.
Here's what the cabinet currently looks like. I swapped out the cruddy plastic seat for a minivan seat. Had thought about spending extra for a racing seat but the mini van seat is more comfortable for extended gaming.

Will update as soon as I make progress on the front end.

Thanks for replying looks pretty good and yeah I would have a hard time not playing with a Oculus if I had the chance.Mine won't be going in a cab. They are to hard to find and to costly  where we are .Also running out of room lol the pin/mame that I built a few years ago takes up to much room already lol

I added just my steam racing games for know to see how it worked have not played with any big box setting to see if I could use my wheel yet but can use an xbox controller ,not perfect but better that keyboard and mouse, and the wheel works as intended once steam launched. On to the emulators next weekend .

Finally got around to working on this.

LaunchBox successfully picks up all of my Steam games as well as the handful of emulated games and is a joy to navigate using the keyboard.

Unfortunately, I would rather use the controls on my Fanatec CSL Elite wheel to navigate so I don't have to deal with the keyboard at all. The reason this is unfortunate is that I haven't been able to get Launchbox to recognize the wheel is attached. It shows up in the control panel as a game device and all of the games work without fail once launched.

This is the same issue I had with my Logitech wheel. Does anyone have any ideas how to get LaunchBox (or BigBox) to detect input from an attached racing wheel? It's got lots of buttons and I'd love to be able to assign them to manage this interface.

Since making my last post, I've done some more Googling around and decided to use JoyToKey.
This is exactly the application I needed to use to get my racing wheel to work with LaunchBox.

Now I just need to spend some time tweaking the front end to look better and I should be ready to share a video of BigBox running using just my steering wheel.

I also need to make sure the games play correctly once launched... (this could take a while)

When I had the Logitech wheel in there I was using Demul for a handful of games and Model 2 for some of the others. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the Fanatec pedals to work with Demul so I've moved on to other platforms.
Today  I learned I can run Model 3 games beautifully on my system using Supermodel but I'm having a hard time adding them to LaunchBox.

Getting closer to the point where I feel I have something worth showing in a video.

All of this while also testing out a new control panel that includes a trackball (might have played a bit too much Marble Madness and Camel Try today).

I had no problem adding supermodel in .It was actually the model 2 one I had problems with but turn out to be a me error doh.Only problem I ran into is closing the emulators you need to hit esc , I guess can use joy to key for it .Are you using a UI for supermodel instead of just the command line? Because I used a UI this time and just wondering if that has an effect on adding it to launchbox.

How are you having a problem launching Model 3 / Supermodel in LaunchBox? I use it without a problem. It was long ago when I set it up so I can't remember if it was tricky or not but nothing stands out.

My challenge is when setting up the import. Supermodel/Model 3 is not listed in the drop down menu.

I already have Model 2 configured and working.

I'm wondering if the fact that I configured Model 2 first somehow disabled the option to Supermodel.

It should be pretty easy to launch as it has to be a command line to do the launch... should be just a case of me spending a bit more time poking around.
Right now, my biggest problem is how thinly I'm spreading myself. Currently, the list of things I'm in the middle of playing with are:

Oculus Rift with Visual Pinball

New controller layout with both spinner and trackball

Setting up a dedicated laser disc game repository (those chd files are crazy big)

Still trying to beat Cup Head

Competing in local pinball tournaments

Making sure to spend time with wife and kids - while this is the last on my list, it's what I spend the most time doing
