Hi all,

I'm looking on trying out this launchbox frontend but before I part with my cash I have a few questions. I've used HS \ RetroFE in the past but want some advice on what emulators are best to use with the following systems below I'm looking on using with Launchbox.

Arcade (mame)
Atari 2600
Capcom Play System I
Capcom Play System II
Capcom Play System III
Cave
Commodore 64
NEC PC Engine
NEC PC-Engine CD
NEC PC-FX
NEC SuperGrafx
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Entertainment System
Nintendo Famicom
Nintendo Famicom Disk System
Nintendo Super Famicom
Sega 32X
Sega CD
Sega Dreamcast
Sega Genesis
Sega Master System
Sega Saturn
Sega SG-1000
Sinclair ZX Spectrum
SNK Neo Geo AES
SNK Neo Geo CD
SNK Neo Geo MVS
Sony PlayStation
Super Nintendo Entertainment System

Cheers Kev.

Thanks lordmonkus,

What do you suggest for folder structure? any suggestions best practices. Do I need to create a folder for all emulators \ roms.

Cheers

What I do is I have an emulators folder and then sub folders for each emulator and version number. I then have a roms folder and separate sub folders for each platform. I also keep my emus and roms separated.

Yes that was a typo which I will fix.

I suggested the Mercury core because it uses high level emulation for the Snes' special chips like dsp and others. If you use the standard BSnes core you will need dumps of those special chips.

Guys, thanks for all the feedback I really appreciate it. I'm now just creating and getting the folder structures in place to try and make it as easy as possible. I've not used RetroArch before but it seems a lot of systems require it so I might make a start on that first.

Cheers

lordmonkus ,

I've started setting up mame with mame 2014 core and its pulled most of the artwork for the games but when I select a game through launchbox and select play nothing happens? but if I select open game folder or open retroarch they seem to open correctly.

any ideas

cheers guys
