Lordmonkus
I would suggest using Retroarch with the GenesisGX core for Genesis, Sega CD, Master System and GameGear emulation and use the Pico core for 32X. The GenesisGX core is superior and much more up to date while Fusion was and still is a very good emulator it is not kept up to date and has issues now with Windows 10. squeezyp123
Ive been trying to use stand alone emulators as i cant get to grips with retroarc at all and think its more hastle than worth or am i doing somthing wrong there too as It seems like your running frontend in a frontend if you know what i mean. Is there no command line i can put in kega fusion or another stand alone to try first? it used to work fine on windows 7 just not 10. If there realy is no other way is there a video tutoriol i can watch? Also my setup is almost done on my laptop. How easy would it be to tansfer the lot over to a tower were im putting it in a custom arcade unit? All emulators and games are on an external hdd. Thanks for your time. And sorry fo being a hater of retroarch i just dont understand it. Chears pall Shauney b
Lordmonkus
Yeah, Fusion runs fine in previous versions of Windows but 10 has problems and hasn't been updated in quite a while. Retroarch has a bit of a learning curve but in all honesty for 8, 16 and 32 bit consoles it extremely good and in most cases the best emulator for those systems. For the NES though there is an argument that can be made for puNES and Mesen. If you aren't used to it I suggest reading my guide here: Of course if you need help we're here to help out. Retroarch could be considered running a frontend within a frontend but that is a very narrow view of it. You can use the Retroarch UI while running a game to manage save states easily with your controller and once it's setup you rarely have to use the UI. Retroarch has some very real benefits over stand alone emulators such as lower input lag, easy to configure controls, consistent visuals when using shaders and amazing audio syncing. Moving over your setup is easy enough depending on how you have everything organized. If you have everything contained within a single folder like having your emulators and roms in your Launchbox folder. If you have your roms and emulators outside of Launchbox and and the emulator and rom locations aren't actually changing then it will be fine. I moved my Launchbox from one drive to another with no problems, my emulators and roms did not move at a.

squeezyp123
Thanks so much for all your tips and advice. Tried them all and have asked other friends who even have it running on windows 10. Ive even tried my display driver but its most current. Ill get cracking with geting retroarch on tomorow unless overnight sum1 has a magical cure for kega. I loved that emulator but must be time to move on unless i try an older build?? Thanks again guys
roy1975
I can't say I had your specific problems, but I did end up downloading the next-to-last build of Kega Fusion and it works better for me than the newest version (and I do use Windows 10 and haven't had any trouble with Kega so far). In my case I just wanted more video options and for some reason the programmer stripped them out of the "current" version.
Lordmonkus
Fusion is a very good emulator but it does have its flaws nowadays with Windows 10 and has been surpassed by the Genesis GX core in Retroarch. Though Genesis GX does not emulate the 32X it does emulate some games that Fusion does not.

roy1975
Sorry, that's totally new to me. Not sure why it's giving you so many problems. I think Lordmonkus's suggestions are good - when one emulator fails you, try the other ones and see what works best (I do use Retroarch for most of my Genesis emulation, but I keep Fusion around because I've had the most success with Sega CD with that one). If you are having troubles with Sega CD and Retroarch you may need to look into new bios or renaming the ones you have for Fusion. If I remember correctly they are the same bios but differently named. I have had zero issues with Sega CD using the Genesis GX core.

Maddoc1007
Try running it in compatability mode for windows 7 and disable dpi scaling (right click the exe and properties, but first try setting fullscreen in the settings below 1080 im not 100% sure but i think Kega has problems running fullscreen at 1080 and as a last resort remove the ini. Lordmonkus
Making the move to Retroarch will make your life so much easier in the end. You will be able to emulate several systems and have a universal setup and feel for all of them. Even if you don't care about shaders Retroarch has the lowest amount of input lag and has the best audio sync. It really is the best overall way to emulate the 8 - 32 bit era consoles.
