Recommended Posts

I found the ROM of the game, but I can not find this software
is there any information on this emulator? Does it work with launchbox?

It is running on Tekknoparrot. Just google Tekknoparrot and it will be the first link. Current builds are patreon releases and the most current should be releasing soon. You can find google links to older public releases. I think 1.20 was the last public release.

Any tutorials on how to use it?  I got the 1.21 file, opened it up, and it's really a terrible interface, looks like something that was designed by committee back in 2007. I figured out that the rom needs to be unzipped and the emulator needs to have each game configured and it told where the exe for the game is. Once that was done, I chose to boot up Chase HQ 2 and it comes up with error "cannot find parrotloader.exe". I searched through the directory and can't find it. and I searched online and no help is given. Any advice?

EDIT: It seems as though the Teknoparrot got picked up as a really bad file by windows and quarantined it. I restored it, but I hit another snag. Now when running the program it comes up with an error saying I have another emulator running (I don't) and it also wants me to remove a bunch of files in the game directory, but I can't find them.

Delete the files you can find from the list it gives you.... I think it's only 2 that I found ... then it should launch

best to read the technnoparrot forum on configs and such , they usually explain it all

I got that part, now I've got another error. A box pops up saying "IO Error: Libraly" I click ok and the game starts to boot, but then asks for test switch to be pressed. I'm pressing what I have mapped in the game settings, but nothing happens. I went into the game's readme and it says t is the test, so I hit T to get into the test menu. the I/O stuff needs to be set I guess, the steering and gas and brake. the controller doesn't work at all, so I have to use the keyboard. The arrows should be steering left and right, and Gas = Space bar and Brake = Ctrl. Yet when I try to calibrate, it fails no matter what.

You have pointed technoparrot to the wrong exe ... use the one with original in title then the error will not happen and you will be able to start the game after you have calibrated the controls.

Ah I see, ok, got that all set up and working... except with no sound. This seems crazy insanely harder to setup than it should be. I spent 2 hours reading up on other forums downloading multiple "fixes" and things. I'll be happy if I can get this and the mario kart game working.

This emulation is still in it's infancy and can only improve with time. Its trial and error for most of us ATM.

Happy gaming mate.

Untitled2.thumb.png.d536cef4c522b01a593fefb1b13b088c.pngCould I get some help with this? My copy of Mario Kart does this EVERY time, and I have tried everything.

I am running on a Win 7 x86 laptop, with Intel Centrino (according to the sticker, it is a second hand laptop so I am not that sure).

Interestingly, a video of this running on youtube has extra lines in the ParrotLoader.exe, referring to reading activation keys and the registry, but everywhere I look I can't find a way to register ParrotLoader into the registry (unless that was just for patreons).

Any help is useful help, thanks in advance!

With Mario Kart, I am able to open it up, but if I run it in windowed mode, it doesn't show up in a screen at all but I can hear audio. If I run if fullscreen, then it comes up with an error stating "Cannot find Direct3D  compatible device" and crashes. I'm not running on a laptop, and I've got a 1080ti, so it's not an issue with no dedicated GPU. Any advice?

I know how to fix that problem.

On the Teknoparrot wiki page for mario kart, there is a known problems catagory. There are two links that you need to install under the direct3d error subheading. If you get an error installing one of them, that is completely fine.

Hopefully this helps, and hopefully you can play :)

Is a steering wheel required for this? I cant seem to see where u can edit steering controls

Steering wheels aren't needed.

Go to game settings and at the top there shouldbe key bindings. Click on that and you can bind your keyboard or controller.

I seen that but the only steering option i can see is wheel axis and that only lets u choose 1 button so i dont understand it. The game loads and it shows gameplay, then i get an error :(

Is the error a red message box with japanese on it? If so, press the button you mapped to Test - the first button on the list. Not so sure of the wheel axis but press either a or d, or if you want arrows, left or right. Hope this works
