Just wondering if anyone has had much of a go at the Philips VG5000 with the DCVG5K emulator? MAME will get the command-screen (or whatever you call it) open but won't seem to go any further despite typing in the correct command. Once you get used to stuff like the keyboard layout (which I haven't fully grasped yet) like typing "Q" instead of "A" on your normal keyboard to type "CLOAD" to load a cassette it isn't too bad. Whilst it is nothing to write home about there are definitely some fun little games to play.

You can chose English from the options too.

About 2 years too late on this post, but I just added this one to LaunchBox and it looks pretty fun. By any chance, do you know of any scripts do make it full screen or to automatically start the "CLOAD" command for tapes?

Did you check the option with Mame using autoboot? That might be a solution/alternative.

vg5k -skip_gameinfo -autoboot_command "cload\n" -autoboot_delay 3 -cass

Once you've typed CLOAD and pressed Return, you need to manually play the tape.

How are you manually playing the tape? I can get this to work in MAME but as others have said after CLOAD enter it just gets stuck with red square around screen then nothing happens.

Which if you use the vg5k emulator after CLOQD enter the game starts

If you're using MAME via LaunchBox, try the parameters
vg5k -ram 32k -autoboot_delay 2 -ab CLOAD\n -cass

Launch a game and when CLOAD arrives on the screen, enable the UI Controls using the Scroll-Lock key.
With the UI Controls enabled, press the F2 key to play the tape.
When the tape starts to play, disable the UI Controls again using the Scroll-lock key.
Some computers may not have a Scroll-Lock key. My desktop has Scroll-Lock, my laptop doesn't and uses Fn+S.
