samgrant78
mame64.exe -keyboardprovider dinput File Since this command has been put into Mame as a default command parameter nothing is running anymore. Im running Mame version 0.160 Am I right that this means the command is not recognised in this version of mame.

samgrant78
Yes. I'm running two versions of mame including the newer one and this only happens with the old one. Ive found out I can take the command but im forceably being prompted every time I edit the emulator settings.

Regardless, I don't expect many people will run into the issue, because that's a pretty old version of MAME. As long as you can get around it, we probably won't be changing anything, as we don't currently have anything in place to check the MAME version. Good to know though. dragon57
As an aside, and if memory serves, I think dinput support became official in MAME at version 0.173. (For users that search and find this thread)

It's stuff like this that makes me just want to completely avoid updates. Edit: is there a way to just downgrade back? I don't feel like doing this for every single game. Edited May 23, 2019 by Lobodamainman Another question.
Lordmonkus
You know you don't have to use the Pause Screens right ? You can just turn it off.

That doesn't work at all. Also I can't downgrade. It won't launch after going to 9.7.
Lordmonkus
You can roll back by going to your Launcbox\Updates folder and reinstalling the last version you had downloaded using the updater.

Lordmonkus
You're the only one reporting an issue, so far it's been a very smooth update.

When people update and they can't use perfectly good 50GB romsets because they failed to test all the emulators. You'll be seeing "Help Unknown option Keyboard provider"
Jason Carr
Lol...yes. There are no issues here at all. Just edit the emulator settings. I don't really understand why this thread got quite so out of hand, but I'm glad it's all figured out.

If you are using a very old version of MAME all you need to do is turn off the pause screens for MAME, or delete the command-line.

While the pause screens have been well tested during the beta phase, we cant possibly test every single emulator or combinations of versions either, so if you run into issues with any its worth searching the forums to see if anyone has got it working. Failing that simply turning them off for specific emulators is the way to go.
barbedwiredave
I would also like to report this problem using .139 custom compile for my custom bezels. I unchecked pause screen for mame but it still doesn't launch a game. I tried rolling back to 9.7 but LB/BB doesn't launch after the roll back. If I delete the dinput command line it will work
samgrant78
This error is happening with older versions of Mame. Its annoying as 0.160 is a very rounded version and I imported 1000s of games against it. I have now decided to go the route of updating mame to 209 and have started that process.
