"Ex" Hyperspin user here. I'm pretty blown away with how far Jason brought this product since the last time I tested it ~4 years ago. It's "almost" the perfect handheld assistant / companion. (I left a request pointing out what changes would be better) but it's just absolutely an amazing product as it sits. Well done Jason, it was good enough to put on my new toy - and it's a pleasure to use your product on it.

It really has come a long way.  It's a truly amazing piece of software.  In the early days I still kept my Hyperspin install folder.  But after a while I realized, I'm never going to go back.  It was tough to delete it.  But it needed to happen.  Launchbox/BigBox is just the best.  End of story.

Also a long-time ex-hyperspin user here, and since I discovered Launchbox about 7 years ago or so, I've never considered using hyperspin again. It's a shame because it was once a great piece of software, but the lack of any (real) updates and its lack of features and rather archaic design makes me wonder why anyone still uses Hyperspin, unless they're running a much older system in an arcade cab. There are plenty of great options out there for a decent frontend-emulation experience, but LB/BB is (by far) the best.

FYI Hyperspin is still alive and works perfectly on latest Windows, even with the latest systems.

Still superior in many areas vs LB imo (Loading Speed/exit being the main one)

As long as you know how to tweak the modules when specific emulators get major updates (or get them from RocketLauncher forums) then you are good to go.

Thanks for pointing that out and I'm quite glad to hear Hyperspin is still alive. While I'm pretty excited that there are plenty of options available including Hyperspin, AttractMode, EmulationStation, etc., I'd recommend to anyone who's new to the frontend-emulation 'scene' should go with LB/BB. It may be not the fastest of them all, but it just works.

You obviously can't manage your collection in it, but for simply navigating to a game to play Big Box would play far nicer with that device than LaunchBox will.

While using LB I can select view and list view and then I can also press my left shoulder button to essentially achieve the same thing you're speaking of.  I do have BB setup with the Hyperspin like theme for when it's docked up in an arcade cab. The device rules on both settings.

Yeah, do you. If you're happy with the experience not going to stop ya from doing it. Glad it all working out so well for ya.

Moved over from Hyperspin 5 years ago and never looked back. Been enjoying it everyday, it has everything you'll ever need. I just finished up all my configurations for my build and Launchbox made it much easier to do, still time consuming offcourse. I am excited to start the artwork part of the build and for OCD guys like myself, nothing beats Launchbox.
