glx Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I would like to remove or disable notifications for the new plugins manager, and it seems deleting the plugins is not the answer. I haven't found any options in the software. Is there any way to do this? I would like not having notifications for baked-in plugins I don't use. Thank you! 1 Quote
C-Beats Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Currently there isn't an option for this at the moment. At the top of this web page there is a "Help & Support" link. If you click that and then "Request a Feature" and file a feature request we can use it to gauge how important this is for everybody so we can prioritize the request correctly. Quote
St_Eddie Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) I've added a request for this as well. It's not a feature which I want to use and it would be greatly appreciated to able to disable automatic notifications which serve no purpose to my own needs. I wouldn't mind so much, I guess but it's asking to update the Retroarch plug-in, whilst saying that doing so will mean that I lose all my custom settings (which, needless to say, would be a disaster). Also, Launchbox keeps on automatically downloading missing cores for Retroarch whenever I import PSX games, even when I specifically tell it not to. The ideal solution to all of this would be to allow users to select whether they want to turn automated features on or off because personally speaking, they serve no other purpose than to irritate me. Thank you. Edited August 13, 2024 by St_Eddie 2 Quote
Retro808 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 I updated the title of the BitBucket Ticket as it would make sense to not just disable the notifications, but have the option to disable the feature. Ticket posted here for anyone wanting to add a vote. @St_Eddie I would recommend voting on your own ticket. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/9132/disable-new-plugin-manager-plugin-manager 1 1 Quote
gStAv Posted May 12 Posted May 12 so still, one cant get rid of this plugin update notification Quote
JoeViking245 Posted May 12 Posted May 12 39 minutes ago, gStAv said: so still, one cant get rid of this plugin update notification As of Version 13.15, certain plugins (namely emulator installers/updaters) are integrated in with LaunchBox. Similar to LaunchBox updates where certain features may be fixed or improved, the same goes for the integrated plugins. If the emulator sources change something (i.e. download locations or update methods and procedures), rather than release a new version of LaunchBox, the emulator plugins can be fixed/updated on-the-go. To remove the plugin update notification, go to Tools < Manage < Plugins.... This will open the Plugins Manager and should default the view filter to filter By: Updates Available showing only the plugin(s) needing updated. If it doesn't, you can click the down-arrow and select it from the dropdown list. From there, select the plugin and click update. The nice thing about these integrated plugins (beyond their intended purpose) is that they take up negligible space and resources. Quote

An inability to remove the plugins and no chance to prevent notifications from them. What on earth are you guys thinking? Quote

That we don't support older versions of the plugins because they have obvious flaws (hence the need for a new version) and we don't want to have to deal with reports of issues we know are fixed in a newer version. Was either this or we'd just auto-download new versions and then have to immediately restart the application you just opened. Notification at least lets you handle the update at your own leisure. So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Quote
chinagreenelvis Posted Friday at 04:31 PM Posted Friday at 04:31 PM (edited) Sure, but there's a difference between convenience and nagging. There's a good reason I paid for LaunchBox 12 and have been on 12.9 for the last three years, and it's because updates break things that were previously stable. That's a big no-no when you have massive collections of games and setups that you've customized to be functionally rock-solid over the span of weeks if not years. Emulation in particular isn't exactly a fast-paced environment where it's necessary to be constantly up to date on the latest developments. Allowing people to manage their emulators through LB is great, but there's almost no way I'd ever opt in for that myself, so plugins like this are completely useless to me, and dealing with notifications about something I don't use every time I fire it up would drive me up the wall. It's just one more thing that keeps me from paying for a new version of the frontend. Edited Friday at 04:32 PM by chinagreenelvis Quote
