Ruin2097
Fresh install of LB, fresh install of Retroarch. Starting a Dreamcast game directly from Retroarch using the flycast core works (albeit checkerboarding). Starting the same game from Launchbox does nothing. Associated platforms shows Sega Dreamcast written exactly as in my platform category and directed to flycast libretro. Right clicking the game and selecting to launch with retroarch flycast also does nothing. Been on this hours and can't figure out. I even gave up and tried redream but it won't launch directly into games even if I only give it one .gdi file to work with. Would prefer retroarch though. I know I've had this working in the past but since switching to win11 it doesn't seem to want to (or I'm missing a setting I had before) Any help would be greatly appreciated. neil9000
What format are you roms in?
Ruin2097
The way mine are set up are gdi, raw, and bin files in a folder per game. I also tried to convert to .chd. If I use just Retroarch it will load both single .chd files and .gdi files. As an experiment I have only two games in Launchbox right now. One game points to a .chd file and the other points to a .gdi file, neither work when launched from LB. For reference these games are from the Sega Dreamcast Champion Collection. Did you get Dreamcast games to boot? I can get Naomi to boot if I use Retro with flycast core but I can't get it to boot DC games. Ideally want to use flycast standalone but it isn't working for me on a second PC at all even for Naomi. Both DC and Naomi boots if I do it on retro or flycast directly not going through lunchbox but that in itself isn't ideal because I want it to boot in bigbox
Ruin2097
I never did get it to work, which is a bummer after paying full price. After a few days of attempts and reinstalls and searching, even begging gpt for solutions, I gave up and went back to plain retroarch. I like launchbox but apparently it doesn't like me. dragon57
I just tried Dreamcast on my new Windows 11 laptop using Retroarch and its Flycast core and my Dreamcast chd games boot right up with no issues. Your results are quite strange, I just say. Do you have the Startup screen option set in Launchbox? If so, that might be masking any errors you may be getting. You didn't specifically say you tried this in Launchbox. If you haven't, try it there and see how far you get. I would be happy to assist if I can. For me dreamcast simply won't start with retro using flycast libertobof flycast stabdalone, Naomi and atomiswave works with this add: Naomi2 also doesn't load I can't get flycast standalone to launch anything through launchbox but app by itself works RetroArch direct also has no issues Edited December 20, 2024 by djricekcn

Even Startup screens work without issue and closing the game from a Pause Screen works. Here is an image of the basic set-up. I did not even bother making any settings changes in Flycast directly. Just pointed Flycast to my different roms folders for DC and Naomi/Naomi 2.

Nope...just can't get Dreamcast to boot regardless of retriarch or standalone if it's through launchbox, I copied your picture as is except adding a check on default emulator depending on which app I was going to try...there has to be a reason cause it boots on both apps when direct. Really want bigbox to work with them Edited December 22, 2024 by djricekcn

Really want bigbox to work with them RE: for just the standalone version of Flycast, you state if you run it directly from the emulator, the game will load/play. But attempting to run/launch the same game via LaunchBox through the emulator, it won't start. So far, so good? What file format is the game you're [attempting to] run? If they're in something like .cue and .bin(s), make sure the game in LaunchBox is pointing to the .cue and not any of the .bin file(s). (An aside: CHD format is the cleanest, least convoluted format. It has the game in just a single file and will be a smaller physical size than the cue/bin(s) combined.) Situations that have been known to happen: (when all else appears correct) Any chance you have different copies of Flycast on your computer? As in... the flycast.exe you're testing with in stand-alone is a physically different flycast.exe than the one LaunchBox is pointing to? i.e. D:\Emulators\Flycast\flycast.exe VS D:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Flycast\flycast.exe Are you starting LaunchBox in Admin mode? Though this may appear to fix 'some things', it will break 'most other things'.

I deleted and readded to list, no dice, so as a last attempt, I uninstalled and reinstalled launchbox and I think it started working (didn't do full test)... If this is the case, why and if there's no some sort of reset to factory, may want to add as a last resort attempt and to avoid uninstall reinstall Edited December 22, 2024 by djricekcn
