13.22 Aetherial BB Theme, hangs BB

It's weird but BB hangs when I load the platformview with the new Aetherial Theme, anyone else have this ?

It doesn't matter if I go to platform view/ platform category view, or open up a platform from the game discovery page. it hangs BB.

I just updated BB as well, selected that theme to see how the Hybrid View acted, and applied it to all of my views.

Same thing. It hangs as soon as it starts. It shows the platform view and hangs.

If I press escape to skip the opening video that I have configured, then I can scroll passed 1 or 2 platforms OR select one real quick before it hangs. Once I select a platform, I can scroll through the games. Going back to the platform view will hang it again (windows says it's not responding and wants me to close it).

I got an issue with the Aetherial theme too. I downloaded it and applied it as my main theme and now I can't get into Bigbox any more (it just hangs right after the startup video). Not sure how to fix this sadly.

BB hangs when I load the platformview with the new Aetherial Theme too, I had to delete the Aetherial theme folder in my launchbox system files to get back into bigbox.Any fixes?

Try changing to WMP in settings, im sure someone already posted this issue and that was the solution.

in bigbox options you need to select defualt media player as Windows media player

i have the same issue although my default media player is windows media player.

Mine is also configured to use WMV. I've removed all 3rd party plugins and the issue persists, so it seems to be something with the theme. I deleted its folder and re-selected my original theme and now BB is working again.

Not sure how much code is shared with Launchbox, but I don't see any issues with LB.

Any update here? I also changed to WMV and have the same issue. Who made this theme? Weird that there isn't a separate thread for the theme anywhere in the forums. 

It probably isn't helping that this thread is marked as solved when there are still many of us in need of a solution.

Are you sure you changed to WMV in Big Box and not just in LaunchBox? They are different settings.

This specific issue is 100% caused by VLC playback when set inside of Big Box.

You can change that by going into Big Box > Options > Videos > Video Playback Engine

You can also change it inside of your BigBoxSettings.xml file found under your LaunchBox\Data folder

You'll need to adjust this line to this:

<VideoPlaybackEngine>Windows Media Player</VideoPlaybackEngine>

Eck, I had definitely done it in the right .xml but I guess I forgot to save before exiting because it said VLC again. Working now, thanks and apologies!

So why is this a VLC issue if it ONLY happens on this one theme?

NVM looks like VLC is deprecated now? Guess it is time to change. Works perfectly with WMV

Sorry to piggyback off a solved thread like this, but I had the same issue (I'm a little late to the game) and this fixed it, but I can't find the official theme release on the forums (sorry if I'm missing it) so here I am. Let me say I absolutely love this theme. I just noticed that even when "Remember Seperate View for Each Platform" is checked, changing between Hybrid and Text views on a platform resets every platform and even platform categories to that view automatically. I don't know if this is some kind of limitation with Hybrid views... but text lists just look better for old computer systems that don't have a lot of art.
 

Again, fantastic job on this theme. I doubt I'll ever change it.
