  1. Hi all, I did Google this question before posting as I was sure it would have already been answered but I'm drawing a blank. I know that within Launchbox you can 'hide' games with missing media. But I wondered if there was a way to 'only show' games with missing media? I have the Platform Auditor plugin and that will list games but it's a bit clunky to work with. I would ideally like to filter a platform to only show games that don't have Clear Logos (for instance) and then I can decide to either delete the game or find/create a clear logo for it? Anyone know if this is possible and how to do it? Thanks ?
  2. Also, another thing to try, is can you launch that game without Launchbox/Bigbox? If I'm ever having trouble I always try and launch it without the frontend first and then it narrows down whether the problem is my settings on the front end or my settings with the emulator.
  3. I didn't to "install" anything as such. I just altered the .ini file to ignore all the devices I didn't want to use and then dropped the .ini file and another file (haven't got it in front of me at the moment but it might have been a .dll file) into the emulator folder with the emulator exe (in my case it was Retroarch for my Atari 2600 emulator) and it worked a treat. Previously, when I started the Atari 2600 I had loads of stuff pop up saying "Found 12 way rotary joystick" "Found blah blah"... but after putting the devreorder files in it just says "Found Microsoft xbox 360 controller". It's a brilliant bit of software - albeit completely different to configure than anything else I've seen ?
  4. That's looks superb!! You are absolutely correct about the speakers!! All gaming needs to be loud and bassy!! ? You've got a bit of room for a couple of contactors in that box too if you wanted to go for a DOF set up. Great photos - thanks!
  5. Thanks Retro. Yep, I can't remember why I set it to run as admin now. It was definitely to get around a problem I had. It's definitely a strange one. On my main PC in the house I can run LB NOT as admin and run the Future Pinball table fine. In the summerhouse on the arcade PC - running LB NOT as admin causes the unhandled exception when I run the Future PInball table. That's why I think it must be something that is "installed" (as oppose to the portable LB installation). It can't be Future Pinball related as that all runs fine when run directly (not via LB) so ... I'm stuck.... ? I will endeavour to keep Run As Admin off once I get this issue sorted though and, hopefully won't have any more issues. I'm actually getting quite in to my pinball at the moment - both Future Pinball and Visual Pinball are excellent. There's "Pup Packs" now that show actual video footage above the table (for movie based tables). Adds an extra dimension to it ?
  6. Hi all, This is a really strange problem that I hope someone on here can help me with. I'll describe the issue as best I can... I have a hard drive that contains my LB/BB folder and I run it on my main PC during the week (to work on adding images/games etc) and my arcade cabinet at weekends (to play on it). I have set up Future Pinball as one of the emulators and set up DOF (Direct Output Framework - it makes lights flash and contactor click in/out in time to the pinball table) to work alongside it. There are certain Future Pinball tables that are "PinEvent" tables so they have extra functionality. When I run a Future Pinball PinEvent table directly (without LB or BB) everything works great. However, when I run a Future Pinball PinEvent table from Launchbox the DOF part (the lights and contactors activation) doesn't work. The creator of the PinEvent system said, in reply to a forum post I made, DOF is completely initiated from the table’s startup (not the front-end). The only reasons it wouldn’t work from a front-end is: 1) the front-end, or another program (DOFLinx) has a DOF session still open preventing the PinEvent dof session from being used (correctly) 2) the front-end is changing security / admin access somehow and that is what is preventing DOF from being accessed through a PinEvent table (when launched from the front-end) I know that 1) isn't the case. So that leaves 2) For some reason, ONLY on the arcade cabinet, if I un-check the "Run as admin" in the properties for Launchbox or BigBox and try and launch a Future Pinball table I get a "Launchbox encountered an unexpected error" that says "System Win32 Exception". However, I can run Launchbox on my PC without the Run as Admin and then run the Future Pinball table without an error? I wondered if it's because I don't have some WIndows software (such as .NET) installed correctly on the cabinet PC so I installed .NET runtime (latest addition). I also re-ran the 11.6 Launchbox.exe in the Update folder to reinstall Launchbox but still no joy?? Anyone any ideas why it only runs Future Pinball when LB is in Admin mode. I need to turn this off to test whether that sorts my other issue! Thanks for reading this far as it's quite a complicated issue and any help would be very gratefully received. Thanks ?
  7. Thanks C-Beats. So, doing a clean install of LB wouldn't overwrite any of my settings (i'll probably just install the .NET Core runtimes instead because I'm a wuss but just for future knowledge)? Also, is it just the "runtime" on this page I need: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download Thanks for your help ?
  8. I have Launchbox/BigBox installed on a big 8Tb drive and I plug it in to my arcade cabinet when I'm using it. Then, when I'm not using my arcade cabinet, I plug the drive into my main PC so I can work on the images/video snaps etc. I updated LB to 11.5 today and it installed some Windows type stuff but, when I plugged my drive in to my arcade cabinet it didn't ask to install anything - I clicked "check for updates" and it just said it was up to date. So, I'm guessing I'm missing an install of something on my arcade cabinet PC but I'm not sure what it is? My questions are: 1) Can I just do a clean install of LB over my existing install and it will preserve everything and go off and get the right dependancies (C++ redistributables or whatever they are)?? 2) Or does anyone know what other Windows stuff I need to download to support my LB install on the cabinet PC?? I'm hoping number 1 is possible as that would be easier/cleaner to just do a reinstall and let LB go get what it wants but I don't want to lose anything or I'll cry like a huge, grown up baby after all the work I've put into it. Thanks ?
  9. That's brilliant Headrush. (Again) Thanks for all your help ?
  10. Hi all, I've got hold of an X-box 360 controller and, with the help of @Headrush69, I've got it all set up on my arcade cabinet. I'm only using it to play a few Playstation 1 games at the moment. I currently control Big Box with my joystick and buttons on the arcade cabinet but, it would be good if I could also control it from the X-box controller. That way, if I was playing PS1 games I could exit a game and just scroll to another one and start it up without having to touch the arcade controls? I wouldn't want to permanently use the controller though - so only if I can use *both* the arcade controls and the controller? Wasn't sure if this was possible or not? Certainly not a problem if it's not possible but thought I'd ask ?
  11. Hi Headrush Just wanted to post back to say I successfully got everything set up last night using the new controllers! I ended up sending that dongle back and bought two of these instead (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08974J2R2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) as they come with the dongle and work out a LOT cheaper. They are obviously copies of the original X-box controller but feel just as good to use. I just followed your instructions and both controllers set up perfectly. I had a tiny issue with device IDs but I used that "devreorder" (https://github.com/briankendall/devreorder) software you put me on to and that works an absolute treat!! So, last night I managed to play my first Playstation game via Retroarch! My mate is coming up for the weekend (this weekend) so really looking forward to a few games of Tekken now that I'm set up. Just wanted to post back and say a big thank you for all your help. ?
  12. That's a great resource you've found! I'm sure it would be straight forward to automate the creation of the controls.ini file if we had the controls for each of the games in a text format. It would be simple to read the text file and parse it back out as the .ini file. It seems that the controls are in an image format on that site though. ?
  13. Wow! That's an amazing post. Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that. That's superb! I can follow that and it makes perfect sense. Really appreciate it Headrush. You sir can tick off "good deed for the day" as done! ? ? Cheers ?
  14. That's great news! And thanks for the link! I ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B076GZ261P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 after I read your reply and it's arriving tomorrow. I'll go through the guide and hopefully get things set up. Thanks again for your help. Very much appreciated ?
  15. Excellent!! Thanks for that, it's great news. I'm not sure about your other points..... Do you mean that Retroarch will automatically detect my Xbox 360 controller and just use this automatically somehow? Or by "There is an auto config for the Xbox controller"... do you mean there's a download or a batch file or something I need to run that will map the controller automatically in Retroarch? That's great news that I can have "per core" inputs. I'm using an iPac Ultimate - to be honest, I'm not sure what 'mode' it's in. I've not changed the mode and I use it to translate keyboard inputs so I'm assuming it's in keyboard mode but I can check this if you want? I'm not sure what you mean by "remapping will affect the keyboard"? Do you mean that pressing buttons on the controller will be (in effect) pressing keys? And, if so, how would that be a problem? Please excuse my ignorance with my reply? I've read your answer about ten times trying to understand it but I'm just not 100% sure. Thanks for your help Headrush ?
  16. Hi all, My son in law has given me an old Xbox 360 controller. Firstly, is this the best all round controller for the older systems that require a controller such as Playstation 1 / 2, Dreamcast, N64 etc? Secondly, I've read that I need a wireless dongle in order to get it connected to my PC but I've found a few different types online. I only want this controller for certain emulators via BigBox so I wondered if anyone had any tried and tested recommendations? Thanks for all your help ?
  17. Hi all, I've got my cabinet set up with some Atari 2600 games (via Retroarch) now and I'm enjoying playing them with the cabinet controls (buttons / joystick via an IPac). My son-in-law has given me an old X-box 360 controller that he doesn't use anymore so I was going to have a go setting up Playstation 1 (I love Micro Machines!!) also in Retroarch, but would still like to use my cabinet controls with the Atari 2600. Does anyone have both keys *and* controller set up? And, if so, is it just a case of loading the core you want, setting up the input binds and saving and then they save specific to that core? Or is there more to it than that? Thanks
  18. Thanks for getting back to me Retro. Glad to know it's meant to be there. I set up a .bat file that has a "robocopy" function in it to easily backup my Launchbox folder - but I found it was following the shortcuts in the "Core" folder and copying *all* the video etc over... I've excluded that folder in my back up now. Thanks again ?
  19. Hi all, I spotted a folder called "Core" in my Launchbox folder. It's not in an older version of Launchbox that I have. It seems to contain shortcuts to other folders within the launchbox install? Has everyone got this folder? I just want to make sure it's a genuine folder and something hasn't gone awry. Thanks
  20. This would be just what I'm looking for. Any news on this? @DAVEMHART Thanks
  21. Right!!! I've sussed it!!! The whole reason I was trying to do what I was doing was so that I could use my cabinet "Pause" button (mapped to the letter "P") in order to open the High Scores on Future Pinball. I had problems because I run FPLoader (BAM) from LB and that then runs Future Pinball so, as far as LB is concerned the program is running and closing almost instantly (hence the LB AHK script running/closing imperceptively). So... I set up LB "Running Autohotkey" script to run another script with: Run "D:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Future Pinball\BAM\FuturePinballKeyRemap.ahk" Then in FuturePinballKeyRemap.ahk I put the following code: #NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases. ; #Warn ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors. SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability. SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory. #SingleInstance, Force #Persistent #If ProcessExist("Future Pinball.exe") p::MButton ESC::ExitApp #If ProcessExist(Name) { Process,Exist,%Name% return Errorlevel } Because AHK wouldn't use the "Pause/Break" key (which is the default high score key in Future Pinball) I opened FP up and "enabled mouse" in the keys and then changed the middle mouse key to be high scores. The above set up is working great now. I took the part about the mapping to the middle mouse key from Wade007 on the AHK forums: https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/82367-how-to-remap-pausebreak-key-to-another-key-in-ahk/ So can't take any credit for it. Just standing on the shoulders of giants Just posting in case it helps someone else.
  22. Hi Lou I've just re-read your reply (I originally read it last night on my phone) and I mis-understood your response. I'm running Future Pinball directly from LB/BB. I don't run a AHK script from LB/BB. I just run the FPLoader.exe inside the BAM folder. However, I'm trying to use the LB feature of adding a AHK script when the emulator runs and stops but that doesn't seem to work for Future Pinball. I've got the same script running for another Platform and it works without a problem. That was my issue - although, I might just have to go down the route of using an external AHK script for everything (i.e. remap the keys and *then* start the game up).
  23. Hi all, When I try and add a Start/Exit AHK script to Future Pinball it doesn't run at all? I'm not sure if it's because I'm launching the BAM loader which then launches Future Pinball or something along those lines? I've found a couple of other mentions of a similar problem here and there. I just wanted to map the Pause "P" key to the Pause/Break keyboard key so that pressing P brings up the highscore table. Anyone got a way round this? I'm thinking I might need to make a .bat file or something that will run the BAM launcher AND run the AHK script? Thanks
  24. Great stuff sundogak, thanks for letting me know. I spoke to one of the mods yesterday and have since uploaded the Clear Logo, a banner (marquee) and a intro video for spinner games to the community uploads section too. Cheers
