This can all be done within the CTC now. You can download the CTC files on the theme page's description, load it into the CTC and make changes via its interface. Looks like the platforms are case sensitive, as there's definitely an entry for "NEC PC Engine", and you seemed to have gone against the grain to make yours "Nec PC Engine"

Sorry, I've never used CTC before. I am gonna try. But these links not working. Am I doing something wrong?

  2. Hey @viking and @faeran,

What happened to the views we discussed last year? Any chance of seeing them in future updates?
These shouldn't be left out, they were great! 🤩

    Bonus!
Please consider creating image like below, for anyone who wants to use the theme without videos

Having issue with exiting game details page when using vertical wheel 2.  Screen will be blank and only show once you navigate up or down to select another game.

The same here. It seems that it's more common happens after a while of video running.

Another quick suggestion, is it possible to add plateform name in WheelGamesViews? (somewhere around title name maybe?) It would be usefull when navigating in a playlist with titles plauylist from several plateforms.

    I agree . @kobaturtle!
There are different versions of the same game on different platforms.
We need to know exactly which version we want to play.

I'm going to test the Theme now and, if there is any point of improvement, I'll come back to let you know on the forum:

@faeran and @viking , thank you and all team involved in this great update!

Thank you for gifting us with the hardware set images. I'm sure many will ask to use the images in other themes, because they are very beautiful.
For Now, I missed some platforms, like the Sharp X68000 and american Super Nintendo. Please, can you make them for us ?

Apparently, we still have the old color problem:

Here a problem with long names:

  5. Hi @Rincewind & all !

My Rincewind BB theme is ignoring xml config style
(LaunchBox\Themes\Rincewind\Styles). With that, I have wrong font and menu selector.:

    image.thumb.png.3a757506e6029451deed941448228e79.png

I was sure about this when I temporarily removed the stile files in it's folder. The only .xml complained about was the UserControlStyle. Everything else Rincewind theme completely ignores.

The failure only occurs with this theme. I have other themes installed and all run OK.
I already reinstalled the theme, but it didn't work.

    Please, any help?

Can you provide your machine specs and video of the performance problem. I tried my best to make Slipstream perform better, but there are some asset problems that I can't help. Some assets are just too big in size like fan art. Some of the images are png and over 2 mb. Loading these images can make the theme feel slow. In Slipstream there are few views that use fewer assets(no fan art), so you could try those.

    My Specs:
    Ryzen 3 2200G
    Nvidia GTX1050
    16GB RAM 2400MHZ
    LaunchBox installed in SSD.

I'll try to create a video showing the result at some point. It doesn't exactly seem to be a problem with images. Even populating the image cache I didn't notice any significant improvement. As I said, problem doesn't happen with console, handheld or PC game lists. But yes, just for arcade games, with the same bigbox theme. Older themes like the ones I mentioned earlier don't have the problem.

  7. Thanks a lot guys!

I think I managed to solve it with Link Shell Extension .
I'm going to do some testing, but it seems to work. The tip here is not to link folders with generic content, such as videos and images to categories, because there are themes that don't allow you to manage these contents and need to be chosen directly from the Launchbox configs. This is precisely one of the things that overrides the settings of another installed theme.

  8. I was wondering if there is a possibility of having multiple installations of LaunchBox on the same PC, with its own theme, however, sharing the same video and images folders.

It would be perfect if a paid product like Launchbox had user profile support, but unfortunately we don't.
The idea is to have only one Video folder and one Image folder, because together they consume a lot of GB space. I didn't want to have to duplicate these folders.

The reason for this is that we can't resolve all image and video preferences and priorities conflicts between themes. So, if I can copy and paste the installation folder and create different shortcuts for executables, it would only be viable if I could to share and point to the same video and image files.

  9. Since the arrival of CTC, many new themes are coming out more frequently. I'm one of the users who likes to have more than one theme and I like to switch between different BB and LB themes.
I think Lauchbox developers should separate setup integration between LB and BB modes. In my opinion, what we do in LB mode, should stay in LB only. That's because we often have conflicting about preferences and priorities for images and videos between both modes.

@Jason Carr and all LaunchBox Team! Has anyone ever thought of this?

I'm not saying that the configuration editor for Big Box mode cannot exist via Windows, but if could be a separate configurator for each one, or one that allows you to choose which mode (LB or BB) the configuration would be applied to.

I don't think taking away user choice/customization is a particularly good idea to be honest, users should be able to display what art they choose for the most part.

Most theme creators mention theme setup tips in their posts. These settings are usually what is expected of the user, for the theme to work as it was designed. Wouldn't it be nice to already have this configuration via file, instead of recommendation? I'm not saying that installing this configuration is mandatory. But being able to have a configuration file that does this would be really nice. Obviously, if there is a way to undo the settings, it would be even better.

  11. I think there is some performance issue with these new BigBox themes and any arcade games lists. The problem is that switching between games takes about 3 seconds.
I have no problems with old themes. It works just fine with BigCouch, CityHunter 2, Colorful and Defaut BigBox. Among the new ones I tested, the performance is poor with Pulse, Slipstream and Play Box 6. They all have the same problem navigating through arcade lists.

Anyone else with this problem? Is there anything to do?

Are you talking game play videos or platform videos?

I'm referring exactly to the videos from platforms and collections, sorry!
I think I was confused. I saw that all themes have a videos/platform folder. However, what we configure via LB Edit platform overrides the theme's video folder. That's right?

  13. Is there a way to make each theme use its own unique video package?
Having to make this choice only in "Windows mode" doesn't give us the alternative of having several themes installed, each one with the video that matches the theme.

Themes video folders don't seem to work properly.

t's a tiny little bit of work (just moving, not copying folders), but what I do is have all my platform rom folder in the root of my E drive, than I also mount this drive onto my Launchbox\Games folder.

I can access files through E drive or Launchbox\Games and this means i can leave platform file locations as default and use relative file paths. This should work for you as your current paths are within the Launchbox folder, so your entries in your platform.xml files should be the same.

I'm sure there are other options as well, just how I have mine and works great.

Hey @Headrush69, your solution can be very good as it assumes the default path. Could you share how you configure this relative path? 🙂

Hello, I have my launchbox directory in "D:\Launchbox", and its about 4TB full of games, I want to change the launcher directory to my SSD at the "C:\" which will help me boot the application faster. While I can't copy all the 4tb games into the C directory cause its only 500gb.

So, is there an easy way for it without altering the games and platforms paths.

Launchbox does not appear in the add and remove programs list. I think it doesn't create entries in the system registry. If your games are already in correct disk, it might work just by moving the entire Launchbox folder and creating a new shortcut for it.

If you need to change game paths,  the game location paths are in \LaunchBox\Data\Platforms. It might work if you mass-edit all paths with an advanced text editor, replacing all values that point to the current path. But it may be necessary to modify other files as well. I suggest you test with a single platform before assuming it as a definitive solution:
