  1. Gotcha, thanks. At this point, I do believe that it's likely caused by syncing services. Which is stupid and funny on my part, because I only *just* decided to move my own personal LaunchBox folder outside of Dropbox, sigh.
  2. With Google Drive closed, try deleting the LaunchBox\VLC folder. Then start it up and see if it works. I don't think reinstalling the update will do much of anything, though you can try. There should be a copy of the 9.4 setup in your LaunchBox\Updates folder.
  3. Yes, I think that's what is most likely. Drive syncing services (even Dropbox I've seen) sometimes take a while when deleting files, so I'm thinking it's maybe putting a temporary lock on the files. You should be able to exit out of the Google Drive syncing service from the system tray icons.
  4. @radio5 Good to know. By chance is it Google Drive that's causing the issue? What happens if you completely close out of Google Drive before attempting to upgrade?
  5. Figured it out. For whatever reason, some of your XML files are marked as read-only. No idea how or why that would be the case, but that appears to be the problem. Make sure that all your XML files are not marked as read-only. That shouldn't ever happen automatically.
  6. I take that back. Weirdly, after I close LaunchBox, I do get the error: I'll dive in to see what I can figure out.
  7. Alright, I've tested your data and it's working fine, so it doesn't appear to be a data issue. Are you using LaunchBox inside of any kind of a syncing app like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive? Other than a permissions issue, I can think of two possibilities: either some sort of app conflict, or perhaps a file system/corruption issue. Or it could be a disk space issue even. So I would first check to make sure you have plenty of disk space, and then run chkdsk on the drive to make sure that nothing is awry. Then try closing all background apps to see if it makes any difference.
  8. @Nyny77 @Cauptain I think I figured out what went wrong with that last translation package. There are a series of files that are no longer used by LaunchBox (they've been retired). I didn't realize that they were still being included in the translation packages; sorry for that. As far as I can tell, the only files that were updated in the very last package you guys sent were these unused files. I've removed them from future translation packages, so we should be good going forward, and as far as I can tell, nothing is missing from the 9.4 release (the last changes weren't used anyways). Sorry for the confusion there.
  9. I'll add this to my list, though it may be a while before I get to it, unfortunately.
  10. Volumes do work in WMP; they may not have at some point in the past, but they should work fine currently. I have heard that the new version of VLC fixed issues for some people it wasn't working for.
  11. Just for future reference, it's best *not* to install as admin, as it won't fix anything and can actually cause various problems later on. It sounds like we really need to figure out what's going on here. Unfortunately I'm still fairly clueless as to why it's happening to a small handful of users, but if we can figure out commonalities between you guys, we might be able to identify the issue. What version of Windows are you guys running? @jjb_22 What happens if you install to an entirely new folder (temporarily)?
  12. Thank you Neil, I never saw this thread. Unfortunately there's no way I could read and respond to every single thread on these forums. Auto-populate playlists are naturally going to be more CPU intensive than otherwise, but I've worked hard in the past few versions to help their performance. A lot will depend on hardware though, of course. @Djungelurban Please let me know your hardware specs. You can also PM me a copy of your LaunchBox\Data folder and let me know what's slow and I'll see if there's anything out of the ordinary that's slowing it down that can be addresssed.
  13. They both have their tradeoffs. VLC can be slightly more resource-intensive, but also tends to result in smoother transitions, assuming the hardware can keep up. WMP may be stripped from future versions of Windows for all we know, and it also requires third-party codecs for many of the videos.
  14. After a quick look, the themes look very close now. Redux has the faster spinning discs, and some slightly different backgrounds (characters have been removed in Redux so that the boxes don't overlap them). There may be other differences but I'm not immediately seeing anything else sticking out.
  15. @krofftsuperstar It's definitely an issue with a Windows setting if the keys aren't auto-repeating. Maybe try some of the steps here? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/keyboard-will-not-repeat/6626697f-00a2-43dc-95bb-936c3cf4d2bf
  16. I wish. There are no good solutions; the Google thing doesn't work with multiple items. Eventually I'll probably convert the whole dialog to WPF and then we can do something better. It'll be a while though.
  17. Good to hear. Apparently the 2.x line of VLC just did not work well on your system, for whatever reason. What changed is that we upgraded to VLC 3.0.6, which was a major restructure on VLC's part so it was a challenge to get it all upgraded.
  18. No worries. Strange, but it's good to hear that a reboot magically fixed it at least. Thanks @adu.
  19. I'm pretty lost, especially considering that it was happening for a new install for @adu. I guess we'll see if anyone else runs into it.
  20. Odd. I wonder if maybe VLC is somehow in use and so it's failing to overwrite the files. Were you guys starting up Big Box or LaunchBox?
  21. It sounds like somehow it's unable to extract the new version of VLC. Are you running out of disk space?
  22. Hi @adu, please try installing to a new folder (just a separate install) to see if you still get the issue or not.
  23. Okay; I'm guessing that the issue will still be temporary, and there's probably something out there in the Interwebs that's just sucking or partially down right now. I can't say for sure, but that would be my guess.
  24. Where are you located? Is it a new issue? Yes, VPNs can help, but it depends on a lot of factors.
