I can't seem to reproduce either of those issues, so I'm pretty much lost on them both. This is the first time I'm hearing of the expand on single click issue; my best guess on that one is that maybe it's caused by the background processing falling behind, but I'm not really able to follow that in the code either. I have heard about missing screenshots in the sidebar before, but haven't been able to reproduce it. It may just be the file type though; what are the file types (file extensions) of the missing images?

Try capital "M" characters instead of lowercase ones. If I recall correctly, the lowercase "m" is for minutes.

LaunchBox Plugin Overhaul for 9.2-beta-3
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
Currently the extracted files are just deleted once the emulator closes. The issue I can see with the file lock approach, is that LaunchBox doesn't necessarily know what file to check the lock of. If you check the lock on the ROM file, depending on the way the emulator is coded, that may or may not work (not every emulator is likely to hold a lock on the ROM file for the entire time that the game is loaded). So you'd need to check the lock on the emulator's EXE file, which would be a guaranteed way to do it, but in the case of Steam, we wouldn't necessarily even know the path to that EXE file. That is an interesting thought that I hadn't considered though. -
I might as well keep piece-mailing lol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APNG https://archive.codeplex.com/?p=apngwpf So it DOES exist. But the fact that no one knows about it probably does mean that it's pretty far from a standard. But I'll probably get this implemented eventually.

Come to think of it, I guess it's certainly possible, but we'd have to do the animation ourselves, and use a separate PNG image for each frame. Talk about a pain to create the animated wheels lol.

I get you; we'll see if anyone else ends up bringing that up.

It would be nice if I was aware of a decent animation format (other than Flash) that supports alpha-transparency. The problem with gifs is that they're ugly because there's no alpha-transparency support. I don't believe WPF has support for any video formats with alpha-transparency, and unbelievably I'm not even aware of any formats existing (at least not as a standard). That's kind of baffling, to be honest. But yes, I have thought about that; I just don't currently have a good solution for it. We're definitely not going to be putting Flash in at this point.

Oic. I figured you meant Big Box since Unified Redux is a Big Box theme. It is fairly easy to adjust the height of the side bar items in the XAML; @Lordmonkus even put out a theme to do just that. You can either use his theme or make your own theme and use his tweaks.

This isn't caused by any kind of bug in LaunchBox. If anything, it could be a server issue, but I doubt that as well. It's largely just the nature of the Internet; when you're downloading thousands and thousands of individual files, errors are bound to happen occasionally, and having a ping run in the background really doesn't prove or solve anything. I assume when this happens that errors are reported in the error list? If you can consistently confirm that certain games aren't downloading their media, let me know and I can look into it if I can replicate it. But random connection issues aren't really trackable or fixable.

In the future I'm planning on adding an option to hide auto-generated playlists from the main list of playlists, so when I get that added in, that should fix it. I'll probably add it into an early 9.4 beta. They were already removed from the right-click menu in a 9.3 beta.

How do i alt tab out of big box
Jason Carr replied to uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwyanwunt's topic in Features
If it's a new issue, I'm guessing it's probably somehow caused by the new startup screens. Can you try disabling the startup screens to see if it still happens? In order to fix it I'd also need to know what particular emulators or games are causing the problem. -
I'm not following what you mean by the left category menu. Can you explain?

How do i alt tab out of big box
Jason Carr replied to uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwyanwunt's topic in Features
Strange. I'm running Windows 10 Pro as well and I've never had that problem. I'm not sure what might be affecting or causing that on your system. I assume you can alt+tab out of other applications just fine? -

Alt+tab should work fine in Big Box, and does in my testing. What version of Windows are you running? -
LaunchBox 9.2 really bad sound, ok in Retroarch.
Jason Carr replied to CaptSpeirs's topic in Troubleshooting
Okay, that makes more sense. So it sounds like it's a setting problem with the Retroarch install, if I'm understanding you correctly. Why not just use the Retroarch install that works? -

What do you mean by the sound is bad? Is it stuttering? -

My apologies for the delay; I'm just now seeing this thread. I suspect that no one answered it because no one has any idea why you're having sound issues. Honestly, the above makes almost no sense, which is probably why no one responded. Since this is indeed something that no one else has ever reported, I would be willing to bet that the issue you're having has nothing to do with LaunchBox, though anything is certainly possible. We'll need more of an explanation as to what's happening with the sound. Are you using Retroarch both inside and outside of LaunchBox? -
If I don't get to it beforehand, I can put it on the next poll. You can use the mousewheel while hovering over it with the mouse. Or, just click on it and use the arrow keys.

Beta 2 is out now with the following: - Fixed: Scan for Added/Removed ROMs error with platforms list's All node selected - Fixed: LaunchBox sidebar counts were updating incorrectly with an active search - Fixed: LaunchBox sidebar counts were sometimes not showing up immediately for All, None, and Exists nodes - Fixed: Big Box was using the LaunchBox startup theme setting instead of the Big Box startup theme setting I've also been running between all kinds of other reported issues trying to fix everything I can, but everything else that I've attempted to tackle so far has either been a one-off issue, or some kind of driver bug, or something of that nature. At this point, I'm planning on letting this beta simmer over the weekend, and assuming all goes well, we'll put out the 9.3 bugfix release early next week.

LaunchBox Plugin Overhaul for 9.2-beta-3
Jason Carr replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
Thank you @Lahma; I do understand what you're looking for now. That approach would definitely mess with the startup screens I think, even if we did get everything in place, especially since Steam closes out the process immediately. I did get Steam games working with the startup screens, but it's messy and doesn't always work well. So unfortunately, I don't think we're likely to find an ideal solution. -
Ugh, I'm sorry to hear. It does sound like some kind of odd driver bug or glitch with Windows 10 1809. I know there are lots of people (including myself) running 1809 without any issues, so at this point I'm confident that it's some kind of a one-off issue. The first thing I would do is try updating all drivers. Make sure Windows Update is 100% up to date, and make sure you have the latest video drivers available. It's possible that somehow you're running a driver somewhere that isn't fully compatible with 1809.

Quick update per VLC 3.x. I've been working with original developer of the Meta.Vlc library, and he's helped us get VLC upgraded to 3.x. There are a number of issues though, including some serious audio stuttering during video transitions, which is basically a deal breaker if we can't get it fixed, but we ought to be able to figure it out in one way or another. The upgrade could also cause difficult to track down stability issues, so I'm shelving it for now, at least until the next release. I hope to revisit it soon. As for right now, I'm headed back to my list of fixes. I hope to put out 9.3 relatively soon, probably early next week.

Unfortunately I'll need specific examples of media not downloading. I've been through this quite a few times over with various situations and I've never actually found something that wasn't working, at least not without an explanation. Errors can certainly happen with the downloads due to the nature of the Internet, but they should be reported in the results.

I don't believe I've ever heard about any issues with the adjusting the sound volume in LaunchBox. Are you just having trouble moving the dial, or is the dial moving while the sound volume is not changing? Try using the mouse wheel while hovered over the dial.

Most likely this just happened because LaunchBox still had a process running in the background and needed to catch up. There is a period of time after a game is selected before the details load up. If this processing takes any significant time, for any reason, then you will see a delay. Are you referring to platform clear logos? LaunchBox still uses an internal list of platform clear logos. I don't think we're downloading them from anywhere at this point. I have this fixed for the next beta.
