Gamepad Automation Not Working for MAME
SentaiBrad replied to angelobodetti's topic in Troubleshooting
It shouldn't be normal, unless MAME makes the controller act differently. If you remove or play a game in MAME that isn't using your controller will it still work? Pretty much is it only games that are trying to use your controller or all games? You may even need to remove the controller all together from the MAME options so that it doesn't even see it. Have you tried other versions of MAME? RetroArch MAME (just MAME), MAMEUI, No Nag? It'd probably work in RetroArch MAME... but I wonder if it's a problem across different versions of MAME. -
Oh sweet then. Also, hey nmc, I didn't realize it was you! Long time no see.

Great, we would love 3D artwork. I would ask though that you please make sure to read the Submission Guidelines and to make sure to upload them to the proper Region and Image Category. Also, do you have them with a transparent background or are they all grey? I won't ask you to edit them all if they are a grey background as it doesn't really matter all that much, but a transparent background does look a lot more clean in LaunchBox. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wB80CH3zecXccfQ4Et8NxYa-G1bQuo7eo1YHvkYQ728/edit

DOS76 said Best Paid software I've ever got plus I got in pretty early so I basically stole it in the 1st place and then Jason very graciously hooked us up with gift cards for helping with the BigBox naming. So now I've been paid $10 to play with this insanely entertaining application. Jason do you have the ability to have donation sent over? You know, I've told him before that we should set that up. ;)
-
I'm not trying to be mean, but he is very busy. I've sent him the link already but I send him a lot of stuff and it probably just got lost. He's 1 person with a family on top of it all so sometimes it may take him a bit to respond to some things, I do apologize for that.

Being able to cancel submissions you made is planned too just so you know, I don't know if I answered that completely.
-
By doesn't work I mean that GamesDB is constantly going down and you can only get our Database functionality, which will be better in the end, by upgrading then losing your Premium Status. Jason and I have had long conversations about this and the measures we did take are all that we are going to take when it comes to the software. We will still take action if we need to, and we have in the past, but we haven't really needed to since. We will protect our selves if we have to, but like Jason said we're not going to make our legitimate and amazing community, fan base, customers etc have to deal with decisions based on a very small percentage of people who choose to be jerks and we're in total agreement on this as well.

No it has Roms in the title. Let's try to keep this conversation militaristic though if we can.

Don't get the Software, get a Split Pack. As for the re-install, try @AutumnSound's link, or you could just back up your AppData, Documents and Save Game folder in your User folder. Everything that would save program settings, game saves etc should all be in here. If a program keeps settings in the Registry then you can't back them up to a new PC... or rather it's not suggested you do that. If W7 was 64bit then when you upgraded the wrong check box must have been clicked or something. I thought that it knew what version to install automatically... but I guess not.
-
Right now you currently can't. I can ask Jason if he can stop it or we can just make sure to approve the change back. We knew this would happen and that's why the Guidelines state to find at least 2 or 3 matching websites. If two sites have it one way, and a third site has it another way it must be the first 2 sites. You can of course go looking for more sites but if they all keep coming up with the same name.
-
They can't crack it anymore. This one is old and doesn't work anymore. We caught this a while ago and this should be before we switched away from GamesDB, so it should actually be broken.

For other Games No-Intro and TOSEC is your friend, other wise a MAME .173 Split Pack should turn you results, or just work with torrents, they're more simple then you give them credit for. That said, yes you need to upgrade your OS to 64 bit ASAP. Your PC is seriously under performing, by a lot. Did you buy the PC like this and put more RAM in it or did you upgrade Windows from 7 / 8 to 10 or did you install this new? It's rather simple to back everything up, especially have you store everything already on Externals or other internal Hard Drives (I don't know your set up). The only thing that should be on your OS is your OS and software, games etc should ideally go else where, but that gets to be more of a personal preference I guess. The only way you could keep your files maybe is by doing a Windows Refresh, except that wont allow you to install the 64bit version. Think of them as two separate Operating Systems. I would just back everything up as best as you can, Documents, Desktop, etc. You can copy your AppData folder in your User folder. I copy that when I change OSes. I just go to that User folder, back up AppData, Documents, Save Games and anything else I may need and on a re-install I just re-insert that stuff maybe with it cleaned out a bit. Then Ninite.com helps you install programs you may have had faster. That's the best advice I can offer though honestly, there's not way around it.

nestopia_libretro.dll running fast on some nes games?
SentaiBrad replied to Ricky's topic in Troubleshooting
Nestopia stand alone does this too apparently. Also, if you wanted it to be as close to consoles you'd turn V-Sync off, that's a rather new computer thing from the last 15-20 years. It's mostly prominent for 3D based games and all it does is lock your Frame Rate to your monitors refresh rate (generally 60Hz) so that there is less or no tearing of an image. If it fixes your problem I'd rather you be satisfied with your nostalgia. :P Yea they're pretty much the same game, but I would feel the same way if the shoe was on the other foot so to speak. For tweaking RetroArch for ever core, that's why they have the Custom Config load command. It's actually super simple because of LaunchBox and I teach it in my Tutorial series because it also helps keep controller specific, system specific settings. Window Scaling isn't the same across cores, shaders should be the same across 2D and 3D, sometimes across 2D cores too so it's so much more super helpful than just this 1 instance. -

That config has a slash in it just like the Load Core command does between it's quotations, but our forums don't like "special" characters... it's BS. -
nestopia_libretro.dll running fast on some nes games?
SentaiBrad replied to Ricky's topic in Troubleshooting
I assume that the NTSC games then are messed up set to PAL. Games during that time we're not converted properly to PAL and Nestopia is cycle accurate. The only other thing I can think to do is to limit the FPS or Refresh Rate (a lot harder) or try turning of V-Sync in the RetroArch video options. I would create a separate config file for the NES and use the -c command in Associated Platforms to load the custom config. To create the config, before make a ton of changes, go to the first tab and press X on "Create new config", this should then load that config automatically. Make your changes then go back to the first tab and press X on "Save current config." A config file names after the core (usually, but not always) will be in the Config folder in RetroArch. Go in and copy that name along with .cfg. In associated Platforms after the quotations for the -L command (which means to load a core) type -c "config ame_of_the_config_here.cfg" and it will load that config every time. Except this doesn't solve any issues NTSC games then might have... but set to Auto + no V-Sync I am hoping this fixes it. -

Then what happens when you set it to PAL? -
nestopia_libretro.dll running fast on some nes games?
SentaiBrad replied to Ricky's topic in Troubleshooting
Yea that's strange that it's not all of them. Try a different NES core? -
In the Input Hotkey Binds menu where you can edit the "Close RetroArch" button there is also an option for "Enable Hotkeys." Set that value and it should require you first to press that button then exit.

We could probably allow the user to select what is password protected ultimately, but the kid was just an example. Any one reason is valid, but the request was coming specifically from parents with kids and the PC was the parents PC and they we're allowed access, not that the kid knew what he or she was doing.
-
So then the MAME that matches your Pack perfectly is MAME2014. Upgrade OS, then download a new pack and use just "MAME" in RA or get the latest MAME binaries from their site and it should fix your problem. Actually, getting 64bit Windows will probably fix a lot more issues you're probably having, that's the most important.
-
Yea that is more likely, but an old set can also certainly add to the list of issues.
-
If you don't put a password then it shouldn't ask for one. I think it was included so that Kids can't exit and mess something up on the host machine.
-
On the second screen shot see where it says 1.96GB usable? You need to get Windows 10 64bit ASAP. You're losing 6GB of RAM. As for RetroArch, watch the tutorials I cover RetroArch a lot and the MAME tutorial. I would say to get a .171-.173 MAME Pack and get the corresponding MAME. The reason why you're having Sound issues is most likely due to incompatibility.

Actually, already planned and has a ticket. Use the BitBucket search.

Already planned actually.
