  1. Watch our tutorial series, I did one on MAME on our channel. You can get there by clicking the link in my signature. All of those games should work. The way the importer works is that it wont import every single file, like I said before 1 file doesn't equal 1 game. Leaving the importer at default will import roughly 4k games. In the tutorial I walk you through the whole process.
  2. Yea being the same Ghz or Generation doesn't make them equal. Not that AMD CPU's are inherently bad I will admit (thought my Wife and I had the most problems with AMD hardware honestly), but you can save a decent amount of money. My new Intel CPU has been... amazing. HEVC video conversion is actually achievable for me now.
  3. So there have been a lot of talks about which type of PC is great for emulation, where can my compromise be, what is emulation accuracy and a whole lot other questions. I thought it would be a good idea to share some information with everyone if you feel like doing some light reading. I pretty much agree with these two pages and have actually said as much in the forums (like AMD vs Intel), but it's all fairly well written and I trust the information on Emulation General 100%. This wiki is an invaluable source of information. http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Computer_specs http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Emulation_Accuracy
  4. Yes just install LaunchBox on top of your current directory. If you want to test it a bit further, try the beta with a clean XML file and see if it still crashes. Make sure to back up your LaunchBox.xml before you remove it if you do want to test it as you are the first person to report this.
  5. Glad this is in it's own thread now and not a reply to another thread! :P
  6. You can probably find that save. I am also not skeptical of RA support, I believed you asked them, I am skeptical of the benefits. There are a lot of games in PBP / eboot format for the PSP that just don't work. I am unsure if it's from the PSP or putting the game in that format. A lot of the time it can be an easy swap and fix that Sony or the dev would need to make, but sometimes it's a lot harder than flipping a switch. So I am more just hoping that a lot of the problems with the format have been worked out and that it was just the limited power of the PSP. It's similar to the 3 PSP GTA games that should not be CSOed because of errors, or the error you get at the end of Chrono Cross when you turn on fast disc loading (the credits FMV is glitchy). I am curious how many issues, if at all, we get. Needs to be ironed out. :P
  7. That's why Cid made the tutorial. :P
  8. gizmo If you're not worried about Size stop searching for individual games or roms, search for entire sets. Search for a .171, .172 or .173 MAME Rom set matching the version of MAME you have. Like I said earlier, usually a game does not have just 1 file it has several. I think that would just solve the problem right away if you got a full set that we knew was right.
  9. CriticalCid said Here’s the link to my tutorial for Clrmamepro: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/best-practice-for-keeping-mame-roms-up-to-date/page-2#p11536 Make sure you have a complete unchanged MAME Romset before you start. And I hope you didn’t already just replaced older ROMfiles with the ones from the update packs, that’s one of the main mistakes new users tend to do. @SentaiBrad I think my tutorial is quite buried in the thread in which I posted it in and even I have to search for it every time in my post history to find it. Maybe I should open a new thread only for the tutorial and you could pin it so that new users can find it very easily? What are your thoughts on that? Please do.
  10. If you bulk add a list of shortcuts as DOS games you can also Bulk Edit out the need for DOSBox. We know that there needs to be a specific Drag n Drop method for PC exe's.
  11. Well in the case of CD, ignoring the long wait times before playing, if a game has a bin / cue sheet it should prefer the cue sheet in most cases. The better alternative I think is CSO for PSP / PS2, WBFS for Wii and GCM for GameCube.
  12. Sure no problem. Besides the approval and rejection process there should be no additional wait time for a game to be added.
  13. An update folder cleaner has been suggested on the BitBucket and will make it eventually. Also no, there is no Premium feature that does this and LaunchBox does not rename any files at all. All it does is not show the user anything inside of brackets. This is to make the UI look a bit cleaner. You can see the full file path when you edit a game and you can even display it in the Game Details bar on the side. Region marking has also been heavily requested as well. Edit: I also wanna point out that it is also this way for scraping purposes. There doesn't exist an entry for "Castlevania (J)", the items in the Brackets are not apart of the name of the game and are just extra information.
  14. If you accidentally accepted 1 or 2 and rejected the rest, we can probably assume it was an error. However, if someone accepted them over and over and over again, then it's probably not an error or the mod is not paying attention. Either way isn't good. The fact that almost no other item has a problem with being accepted or rejected properly based on the Guidelines though and it's ONLY nudity that is having this recurring problem there is just someone who doesn't care. There is no way for us to force moderators in to making sure they read the guidelines, but it seems like we're going to have to come up with a solution. For the record too, we don't have a problem with nudity, however we are running a Database that is open to EVERYONE and Families. Until we put the proper control in to the hands of parents or guardians we have to take a bit of responsibility on our part.
  15. There has been a bug with some games not appearing in the Database, but Jason thought he fixed it. I'll forward this to him though and let him know.
  16. If you can find .171, then a 171 upgrade to 172 then 172 to 173 upgrade sets then you'll be fine. There is a tutorial on the forums that @CriticalCid did for CLRMamePro that covers how to update and merge or split a set.
  17. Ah yea. I will edit that to be more concrete when that feature gets implemented.
  18. Download MAME .173 and find a .173 set, it will be your best bet.
  19. I don't add anything, it's all Jason. If something happens that's all Jason. Until we have proper parental controls Jason and I will need to manually delete the nudity. Being a moderator means you guys need to follow the guidelines, and a portion of you are not. We know who rejects and accepts what.
  20. Potentially a Merged set but... without the entire proper set?
  21. That generally means Parent roms or BIOS files are missing for the games you are trying to run. MAME does not work like other systems, 1 file does not = 1 game. Some games could have up to 20 files that they need to run. The best solution is to get a MAME set based on the version of MAME you have. So the latest version is .173, so you should find a .173 MAME Set. As for some images not being found, there really isn't anything we can do about it. I think our Database is based on .172, but not much may have changed so it is probably not related to why you are missing images. If that game exists on the Database then we are missing data on it, if it is not in the Database or it doesn't have a real name then we don't have it. By real name I mean a game name not the name of the zip file. Games may also just not have images associated with it which will need someone to upload the data for.
  22. There is no version of MAME for LaunchBox, they all work. What this says (I think, but maybe @CriticalCid knows better) is that you are missing parent roms and / or BIOS files that the game needs.
  23. Yep, even Dolphin was Plugin based at first too. It might be inelegant but it is necessary.
