  1. Otherwise try a different emulator if that didn't work.
  2. It could either be a bug, but there are a few things we can check first. First, have you completely deleted the cache folder and reset it manually? Sometimes it can get corrupted. Second, did you change that platforms name at all recently? If you changed it, all of your images are still in the old platforms folder. You'll need to go in to the Image, Video, Music and Manuals folder, rename the old folder to the new platform name. Third, are the images still there in your images folder, assuming you didn't change the name? If they are still there and not displaying, it is most likely a cache issue, resetting it in LB or deleting the cache folder like I already mentioned should help. If they're not there at all, then it's also possible your hard drive could be failing as well. Running a quick HDD check and making sure it passes the tests would help a lot. I'm not saying it's not a bug, but there are a lot of potential reasons why this could have happened. I am leaning most towards the cache issue, unless you changed the platform name and not the folders.
  3. Sorry for the late response: Video only plays in LaunchBox with LaunchBox Premium. EmuMovies video also only downloads with EM Premium as well for your EM account. If you have the video, you can insert it manually and bypass EmuMovies, but with their Premium tied in with ours, it downloads through the Import Wizard or Metadata and Media downloader after the fact automatically. Video is stored in \..\LaunchBox\Video\<Platform Name>\. In that folder, for which ever platform you've chosen, video is used just like any other media. As long as the name matched the rom file name or the name of the game inside of LaunchBox, it will automatically attach it's self.
  4. We all need to stop responding at the same time!
  5. Some cores do different things. Like the Nestopia core is lauded as being perfect emulation now, but it does require a more beefier CPU. I did make a custom list, that I've been trying to get Jason to edit the defaults to. I also need to update it, but it's fairly complete. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1k1aSGkhzHR4L7VDD5CPy-PVMFKiaGOiQhgZO56hUNaE/edit#gid=0 The MAME cores are only labeled if you dig for that info. The "MAME" core, with no year, is usually the most up to date.
  6. Well, it is fairly simple in the grand scheme of things, but I've also been working with Photoshop for 7 or so years, with the last several needing to use it for work. Most of the problems you might face are just trying to figure out where things are in the menu, what stuff is called, etc. At least in Photoshop, with the outlines, you have tons and tons of different options and ways to apply it too. Make sure to set these clear logo's in the Reconstructed or Fan Art sections as well, since you want to make sure to note they're not original.
  7. Libretro is the code behind it, the emulator, RetroArch is the UI and frontend portions. The cores are just extensions of Libretro more or less. They are like mini emulators, especially because the code inside of a lot of them are based on or is directly from another emulator. As for the theme, LB scales better because it's a standard "application", but Big Box doesn't scale down properly. It will adapt to 16:10, or other fairly widescreen resolutions, but by default, the default themes and most other themes also look for 16:9 preferably. That's why a few 4:3 themes were created. They're in the downloads section when you're ready.
  8. Here are 2 quick edits. The higher res the clear logo is too, it should apply a bit better. The one with the bigger outline i gave it a drop shadow too.
  9. Most points have been covered here, so I also wont beat a dead horse. It's worth noting that any of the new cores need some time to get up to speed, and some old cores can be updated. PPSSPP for example is bad because it's 2 years out of date, but they're working on it apparently. As for the 4:3 screens, I didn't see any one ask if you were using BB. If you are, make sure to download a 4:3 specific theme, otherwise Big Box will not look right on your monitor.
  10. I don't use GIMP, so I wont be of too much help sadly. A quick google search will return lots of text and video tutorials though. "how to add a drop shadow in gimp", that sort of thing. If you send me an image you need edited, I can show you what it might look like, and see if that's something you even want.
  11. It sounds like something is corrupted or not working with your Snes9x install. I don't use it, but try redownloading it or using a different emulator.
  12. The easiest solution would be Photoshop or GIMP. I would add a simple outline or drop shadow to the clear logo. The only problem is doing that to hundreds or thousands of images. But, it's something that I do to RSS Thumbnails for example. Any element I use has both applied to it. The outline really helps for images that I need to cut out. Since I don't spend 3 hours on a single image, I can't make it perfect and utilize the method to help hide that fact.
  13. Might be a little bit of a biased post too, but BackBlaze does some really amazing blog posts on various industry, company and world stuff related to their function. https://www.backblaze.com/blog/sync-vs-backup-vs-storage/ Their quarterly drive reliability posts are the data I needed to know I wasn't crazy about the whole Seagate drive thing. I thought I just kept getting bad units until I read those reports. Granted, they ride their drives HARD, but it's a good way to see 5 year use projections in 4-8 months.
  14. The Startup video duration only controls a Big Box Startup Video.
  15. In order to play video in LaunchBox, you need LB Premium which also comes with Big Box. In order then, for LaunchBox to download the video from EmuMovies from within LB (which moves it and names it properly for you), you need EmuMovies Premium. If you just have LB Premium then you can supply video from anywhere, as long as it's in the right location and named after the name of the game or the game entry inside of LB.
  16. If you go back in to the Big Box menu, then to options, there is an Transitions option. I mentioned about editing this in one of my earlier posts.
  17. So, the entire background portion is a recorded video of a HS theme thats set up, so the way the art fly's in and fades in, is all recorded like that. If you play that video outside of BB, I would be willing to bet that this portion plays exactly the same. The bottom left image showing up instantly is probably normal based on the theme. You could use any video in that spot if you don't like them, and you can also change around the Transitions as well to change how it's transitioning, but I honestly don't see anything wrong with that set up. I watched the area you linked to twice, and it honestly looks normal to me.
  18. It does to a certain extent, but when you're talking about shutting down Big Box all together, that's a different story. Video and music do stop, and if they keep playing it's a bug or a one off system issue.
  19. Oh, that already happens. The MAME Importer will only import what you want based on what you select during import. When you call the emulator MAME, this process will pop up automatically during import, but if not, you need to check the box "Force MAME Metadata" on the import screen after the media check off lists.
  20. No, I don't think that's ever been the case. If LaunchBox closes, that's it, you're out, unless you've set up an automated system to then re-open LaunchBox / Big Box afterwards, but that would take some decent scripting knowledge to do. This isn't "well known", it's dependent on a person's computer. 24% on one CPU can mean 10% on another CPU. My BB is about 24% too when playing a video, but it was the theme videos. When I go in to a platform like SNES, and the view I've chosen is playing the video, showing front box art, it settles around 6-7%. Neither number being enough to effect my gameplay too much for me, when it's just BB, a game and my browser for example. I do mostly run LB though and not BB. Also, changing the video engine to WMP from VLC reduced the CPU usage down to about 8-11% when sitting and playing my theme video.
  21. What it sounds like is you haven't let your system cache all of the images yet, and that is probably what is creating all the pop-in. There is an option in the BB menu to force the cache for all images. It could take a while depending on the speed of your drive and size of your library and media, but I would try and get an entire system cached manually first or force the cache in the options and then check afterwards. The cache will repeat any time you make changes to a games images or change the quality selector for those images in Big Box. If you cache them at 100% and change them to 70%, they need to be cached again. If your PC isn't able to keep up with all the media after the force cache, you can try lowering the quality of the images (but you'll need to re-cache) and or change the quality and type of transition in the BB menu as well. Changing it to a different less demanding transition also helps. Different themes will also help, with the default being middle of the road, and something like CriticalZone being more high end. There are some less demanding themes that you can also test once it's all cached or set up.
  22. It's no problem. I try and help out when I can.
  23. If you could e-mail support@unbrokensoftware.com, then they'll go ahead and help you out with this issue.
  24. Actually, some advanced filtering has been requested, but it's not at all an issue nor is it almost ever requested besides the few times. By not an issue, I mean no ones honestly "complained" about it. LaunchBox and Big Box do have some basic filtering, or several different views to be able to show you your games in various different ways, and then there are also Playlists which you can create as well, but not this specifically. At least not to the extent you're talking about. Im sure it's been requested on the BitBucket before, so I would ask that you search and vote on that ticket instead of creating a new one, but you can create any request ticket by clicking Issues/Requests at the top. As for themes, we have tutorials explaining how to install them and several dozen themes in our download section. Big Box does use hardware acceleration as it uses the WPF Engine (I think I've remembered that correctly), from Microsoft. So it's multi-threaded, is 64bit aware and utilizes your GPU (in Big Box only). LaunchBox doesn't take as much advantage of your GPU, so the CPU requirement is technically higher, and it all also depends on how much media and how many games big your library is. The bigger the library, the slower it CAN become, but it's all dependent on your system, theme, settings and how up to date and well kept your OS is. Even something like running Windows 10 gives you a performance increase.
  25. Yea, it's generally been fixed by disabling the software doing it.
