As it so happens, I'm well versed in theology (well, not really that much ), and The Church of the FSM cannot be overlooked!
  2. For you purveyors of Peta-Bytes, this may interest you, although it's clearly aimed at businesses that need to migrate insane amounts of data. AWS Snowball (an Amazon Web Service). It’s long been known that the fastest data transfer rate can be physical media delivered by courier. Amazon has taken this to an extreme, by announcing Snowmobile, an 18-wheeler semi-trailer truck that will carry 100 petabytes (100PB) in a shipping container from the customer premises for upload to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, with a crap-load of Snowballs in the back of the truck.
  3. Well, if you haven't, it's bad-ass, non-volatile memory technology. Up to 1000x faster and more durable than NAND, and 10x the density of DRAM. Check out the demo of Rob Crooke (Senior VP and GM of Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group) transferring a file at nearly 2GB/s! using 3D XPoint-based Optane SSDs. 2GB/second?!?! Nice! If you've read any of my stuff in the past, you'll know I love hardware advancements. I suspect this one (2GB/s transfer speeds) might give our prestigious contributor, DOS76, a Nerdgasm, as he would phrase it.

  5. This is one of those 'Real Escape' games. They have them here (which I'm planning to try soon), but not with the Zelda theme. Defenders of the Triforce
  6. Arcade Spare Parts has a lot of buttons to choose from. Ebay, as well.
  7. Near 600ft basketball shot (off the top of a dam)! Shorter Video Longer Video (nice cinematography)
  8. Well, the PS4 Slim (500GB) w/Uncharted 4 is $249 on Amazon today, so I might go for it.
  9. Besides being awesome in general, you're also a 'master quipper'?
  10. Ya, I think that's good advice. Plus, since I'm feebly trying to "downsize", the Slim will save me a few cubic inches.
  11. Thanks, DOS76. I'm too old for this crap. A PS4 should lift my spirits, though. I'm currently leanin' towards the Slim. Whadda you think? The Pro is $100 more and somewhat larger, although it has twice the HDD space, and few extra features I don't need.
  12. Surprisingly, I couldn't find any recent Posts for the PS4 Slim or Pro (the Pro is available on Amazon, at no discount, for $399). Since it's time to think about a Christmas present for myself, the PS4 Slim or Pro may be in my future, as I'm still runnin' a PS3. Research is tellin' me, if I'm not that concerned with 4K (and a Digital Audio Output), then just go with the Slim. Here's a couple of comparisons: in Forbes and in DigitalSpy P.S. It's good to be back, after my extended absence. Among other distractions, was my 2013 car getting totaled 2 months after I paid it off, numerous bike wrecks, broken leg that I can't put weight on (still wearing that cast), etc. Friends tell me I'm lucky to be alive, but I'm not so sure.
  13. Why in the Hell are my sentences wrapping with an extra space between the lines? Argh!
  14. I'll confess I've watched my laundry agitate on more than one occasion, but I don't need to do that remotely!
  15. Good choice with the Jeff quote, Zombeaver. It is getting insane, that's for sure. Saw a fridge in Home Depot the other day for $4500. You could buy a lot of other cool stuff if ya got the $500 one instead.
  16. Well, the now 'pee-wee' 15.36TB Samsung SSD is 10-grand (it's currently shipping), so 60TB is gonna be up there - Hmmm..., times 4 (for your RAID 10 setup) is... The total sum of my lifetime earnings?
  17. Yup, it had a hard-drive, but it wasn't big (base configuration was a 5MB model). If ya wanted some 'serious' storage, ya added on a washing machine-sized peripheral, such as an RP06 (178MB). When I was a Computer Operator, I used those a lot to do Backups.
  18. Might as well get 4 and go with a RAID 10 setup.
  19. Ya wouldn't need an alphabet-and-a-half for all your drives, if ya had a few of those.
  20. Most of ya probably already know about this, but if not, it's looks as if it might be somewhat useful. [Click on the blurb below] There's even an emulator for this! (I was weaned on Digital's PDP line. I initailly used paper-tape, too, similar to what's shown in the photo ).
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7y8oHI-W3M Wonder Woman is a good ways off, but it appears it might be worth the wait. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lGoQhFb4NM
