  1. Latest beta works great, fixed all the issues I was having, many thanks Jason!
  2. Yep, that's the issue for me too, hopefully it is fixed soon! Also noticed that the video plays even if the details pane is hidden, I can still hear the audio. I wish the video did not play by default, and instead just showed it in the details pane with an overlaid button to play it if required.
  3. I had the same issue, couldn't find any way to correct it, and had to revert to 5.7.
  4. You can already do this, in the upper left corner of the window, change the "Arrange By" drop down to Platform, and it will sort the view into platform sections, as shown:
  5. That sounds awesome, looking forward to that, I didn't realize that it would work with windows!
  6. CADScott said Ok, this is weird, I have actually managed to get the latest beta working now, I accidentally overwrote some of the files installed with 5.8 beta 1 with the files from an old install of 5.7, while trying to restore to a previous backup of 5.7. I am not sure which files though because my backup software went crazy and crashed! But when I then ran launchbox it opened fine, and it is up to date with 5.8 beta 1! I have confirmed that videos are working in the sidebar so it is definitely the latest beta. I can still get it to crash by loading my previous XML file, so there must have been something changed in the XML to allow it to run. I am attaching both the working XML and the crashing XML so you can see what has changed, and a screenshot of the error I was getting. Cheers, Scott I am getting this same crash again, which is weird, because I was running Launchbox most of the day at work (Fixing and downloading artwork), but when I got home and transferred the latest changes to my laptop, I am once again getting the crashes. I have had to roll back to 5.7 for the moment.

  8. Still having major issues with this beta, but I can get it to work if I delete my LaunchBox.xml file and let it create a new one, but I really don't want to have to add back all my systems and games! I am attaching my old XML for Jason to look at to see if there is any issues with it.
  9. I am having major issues with this latest beta, cannot actually get it to start. Once updated, it crashes on startup with the error "Property set of '\URL' cannot be invoked at this time". I have tried rolling back and re-updating 3 times, and still the same issue. I am running this on Windows 10 32bit, haven't tried on my other machine which is Windows 7 64bit, but will try that later. EDIT: Just tried on my Win7 64bit laptop, and am having exactly the same issues. Rolled back to 5.7, and it works perfectly!
  10. Downloading now, hopefully it works, I am looking forward to sidebar videos!
  11. sagaopc said I was wondering if you could create a type of database just to videos for PC games, for Emumovies has no such area. So I am even creating videos of gameplay, I have 63 videos, which are A and B. I'm leveling each video separately, but botarei one pack with them compressed to anyone. I wonder if we could organize ourselves to create videos for PC games, and then put in the database for those who want to download. I can do a tutorial to download the video and convert to the format I'm using the videos. I'm using Total Free video converter, which is very simple to use and fast to convert and edit videos. The video formats are MP4, 2.5 mbps, 30 FPS. each video is about 1 to 2 minutes long and medium-sized 20MB each I also have quite cover, fanart, logos and screenshots, which could be added to the database (about 395 PC games), I can offer to anyone. They are improved covers (a good part of them) or covers created by me do not exist. Download videos (separated) https://mega.nz/#F!v8sRRbTI!8_L_agtp2lM4RPQYNEI3MQ Thanks for listening Do you have any more of these videos, they are fantastic! There are so many PC games, that the emumovies videos cover barely any of those available. Also could you please give some more details of how you create these, I would love to complete my collection of videos. Maybe, instead of these being hosted though Jason, we could just post them to an online sharing site like Mega and then post a link to them in this thread with the names of the posted videos, that way we can easily search this thread and find any videos that we are missing.
  12. SentaiBrad said I used Belarc to get my W10 key after the upgrade. They say it doesn't matter anymore, but the second I need it I can't recover it. :P You may find that the key that is extracted after you have upgraded is actually just a generic key and cannot be used to do a clean install. Had that issue on two different machines, tried to do a clean install, and the key I extracted was the same on both machines, ending in 3V66T. Had to call MS and convert one of my genuine Win7 keys to a new Win10 one. Back on topic, FreeFileSync is excellent freeware for syncing masses of files between multiple locations, I use it to backup my Launchbox and Game collection to my server.
  13. Mine is the same as my forum name too, cadscott, feel free to add me. I have sent requests to others in this thread. (I feel inadequate though, I only have 314 games! )
  14. DOS76 said If one drive crashes its not a problem as long as you have folder duplication setup this doesn't protect against two drives failing but you can even change the amount of duplication you wish to use. It also has features to enable per folder file placement so if you have a folder say with 29 RAR files you can set that folder to duplicate on the same two drives so all of your files are still together. That said I do have a second server that only has 1x duplication set up (so no duplication) and that has a copy of most of my data (I haven't updated it in a while). I would like to find some good syncing software but haven't really gotten around to doing so yet. Too much time spent fiddling with LaunchBox. @Cadscott I actually forgot that the pool parts are hidden folders I always set Windows Explorer to show hidden folders since I'm a big boy and won't go around breaking stuff (mostly). I actually use a combination of DrivePool's mirror syncing and another program called SnapRAID for parity syncing of data that is less important (Movies and TV shows). SnapRAID is really easy to setup, reliable and it is free!
  15. I use DrivePool on my server, and it has been fantastic! Like DOS76 said, the data is not altered in any way and is just stored in a hidden folder in standard NTFS format, so even if the software crashes, or you need to move the data to another machine, then you can read it no problems on any other PC. You can even tell DrivePool not to move files around, but just combine them into a single pool, so you might have a drive for PSX games and another for NES games, and you can combine them into a single drive letter, but the data will not be moved from the physical drives. Well worth a look at, it is paid software, but it is pretty cheap, and so far it has been very reliable.
  16. Thanks Jason, I have created the feature request.
  17. Hi Jason, Many thanks for the great software, I have a request that I think would benefit many people here and would certainly satisfy my OCD! I would love to see a way that we could audit each game, and generate a report or list of which images, videos, manuals and music are present and which are missing. Due to the fuzzy logic matching that is used in Launchbox, it is currently quite difficult and very time consuming to check that all games have their media present. Currently I have to go through each game in Big Box individually to check if there is any media missing, which requires going into the game details on every game and checking if there is a manual also! Even something as simple as a CSV file with all games in a list with their associated media file and locations which would then be able to be manipulated in excel to generate a list of missing data which could then be added manually. Would it be possible to have an option in Launchbox that scans each platform and exports a CSV with the required data, that would be amazing!
  18. That actually seems a pretty reasonable cost considering all the cable adapters it comes with! From their site it lists: 4 - Gamecube Cables 2 - n64 Cables 2 - Dream Cast 2 - NES Cables 2 - Super Nintendo Cables 2 - retro db9 atari/sega style 2 - Saturn 2 - Play Station(1,2) Cables That would be an awesome way to play all these classic systems, and it covers pretty much every popular console system that is emulated today.
  19. That looks amazing, very interested in getting one of those! Where did you get yours from, and if you don't mind me asking, approximately how much was it?
  20. That first PC was the inspiration for my current machine, which is an All-in-One gaming PC, where the components mount behind the 27" monitor and form the stand. It is certainly no where near as pretty as either of those machines, but it makes my gaming PC into a "Portable" machine! I haven't taken any pics of this machine complete, as I am not yet happy with the wiring (Too much time playing games through Launchbox!) but you can see the setup in these build pics.
  21. Very nice looking box art Bil, will have to look at emuxtras.net!
  22. FrJason Carr said Actually, I'm not clear on the differences between MAME and MESS. Can someone clue me in? Do we need default entries for both MAME and MESS? Since v0.162 (27th May 2015) MESS has been integrated into MAME directly, so you should not need MESS support at all unless someone needs to run an older version for compatibility.
  23. I would love to have this feature also, but it needs to have a confirmation list to ensure we don't delete anything accidentally! I have spent way too long on my ROM collection to risk losing any. Ideally I would like the ability to right click on a game and delete the game from LaunchBox, with the option there to remove the game and it's media from disk.

Jason, in regard to soundtracks, would it be possible to have the soundtrack files in a directory inside the music folder, and have this play when the game is highlighted. I noticed that this happens now with a single media file with the game name in the music directory. So the directory structure would be: -Launchbox ------ Music ----------- Nintendo 64 ---------------- Mario Kart And anything in the Mario Kart directory would be randomly played as background music when the game is highlighted. Media controls somewhere would be great too, so we can skip a track or pause the music. You could have an add audio media option for each game, and the directory is only created when the media to be placed in it is dragged to the add media dialogue. Thanks for the great program!
  25. I had issues with Demul in Win10, but changed to NullDC, which works flawlessly on every rom I have tried using the default settings from LaunchBox. I don't have any roms in cue / bin format, but I have other strange formats (mds / mdf), which work fine.
