  1. Here is the list of games by the way, someone compiled it on another site: http://www.listchallenges.com/1001-video-games-you-must-play-before-you-die
  2. Dolphin is an absolutely amazing emulator, I have been using it for years, and the amount of updates that are done and the monumental leaps they have made in speed and compatibility are astounding. Easily my favorite emulator!
  3. Very nice theme! I have a 4:3 screened bartop, and I would be VERY interested in this theme, great work and keep going please.
  4. That would be a really good feature!
  5. It would be interesting to try making a copy of all your LaunchBox files on the SSD (except for the games). You should find much better performance, though it might also depend on the specs of your system overall. Both my systems are pretty beefy, so the mechanical storage is definitely the bottleneck. It also depends on how many games you actually have in your collection, my laptop has a small subset of my main collection, and it is very much faster. I might try doing some real benchmarks of this when I have a chance.
  6. You will see a VERY big improvement running LaunchBox from your SSD. I have my install on my SSD with my games, videos and manuals on my mechanical drive, and I use Symbolic links to set the paths, rather than changing the paths in LaunchBox. I notice a huge speed increase in loading images as the cache is running from the SSD, I don't have any benchmarks, but it is very noticable. Have a look at this thread, it will give you all the info you need to use symlinks:
  7. OMG this is fantastic, I try to use Retroarch for everything I can, this will certainly make it easier to keep up to date.
  8. This will work fine, I have done exactly this, I ran two versions on my main PC for a while, one a stripped down collection for use on my laptop for travelling, and one my full blown setup. LaunchBox is a portable program, so all the settings are stored in the program folder, and most of the emulators are the same, or can be made to be portable.
  9. I have not used the program for a while, but I am sure there was a way to have it select all the images that were 100% match, which you could then delete all selected. Will try to have a look at it tonight.
  10. I use symbolic links in windows to achieve effectively the same goal. This way LaunchBox sees the videos as being in their default location, and windows simply redirects the path to the new location wherever you choose. I do this for videos, manuals and the roms themselves, and keep the rest of LaunchBox on my main SSD for speed. The method I use for creating them is as shown in this article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/ I just do them manually via the command prompt
  11. Yep, been out of the scene for quite a while! But I am back again, got to get my bearings with the new forum!
  12. I used a program called "Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder", which is free, and can find images that look the same, but may be different resolutions and file types. It takes a some time, as you need to manually examine the results, but it does a great job of cleaning up duplicated images.
  13. OMG, I missed that feature being added, that is fantastic!
  14. I use a program called FreeFileSync to keep my LaunchBox folder synced between machines. I run a copy of LaunchBox on my Desktop PC, and sync it to my server, and then sync it to a USB hard drive that I can then use plugged into my laptop at work. I have had no issues with this program syncing changes on any of these machines and keeping the entire setup up to date.
  15. Many thanks Kris, I don't like having to install anything, I prefer my game tools portable!
  16. SentaiBrad said Wel generally most Collectors Editions / Re-releases do upgrade content. However, it's really hard to tell which would be which. My thoughts are it's really hard to know, so accept them all. However, I do agree that games that actually added to the game should be the ones to get their own ID. If the Collectors Edition has the same front and back art, same Description, same release date as the original game then I would consider it a duplicate. If the information actually changes, then I would consider it unique. This is just me though. I agree that if the information changes there should be a new game added. Most special editions come out at different dates to the original game, Game of the Year editions are usually after all the DLC has been released, and they always have different box art to distinguish them. @Jason, would it be possible to have a base game, with special additions linked to it showing the extra features and individual box art? When scraping then, if a game is matched and it has special editions, you could be prompted to select which edition you have.
  17. CriticalCid said A new MAME version always comes out on the last Wednesday of the month I never realised that, I thought it was just random!
  18. You will not need to download any metadata, the tool actually adds the metadata for you on import. I have used it to add a filtered list of about 3500 arcade games from my complete Mame 0.173 collection, which is somewhere around 18,000 games complete. All the metadata was added automatically from the associated info files that the tool uses, including many games that do not have any data in the LaunchBox database currently.
  19. You need to have a look at this thread: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/lightspeed-ultra-fast-mame-importer-tool/page-14#p18304 This tool will do exactly what you are asking for.
  20. Bedwyr said Also in beta 13, getting continued audio from videos after navigating away from that entry. I am also getting this issue in BigBox, on Win 10 64bit, seems to also play the audio from previous videos over the top of the next entries video.
  21. Just tested the latest beta on my 32bit Win10 machine, and VLC seems to work okay in BigBox, though it seems a lot slower to start the video than WMP. It takes a good few seconds before anything happens, whereas WMP is pretty much instant. There does seem to be an issue with videos in the sidebar in LaunchBox though. I get no playback at all when using VLC (WMP works fine), and nothing I do seems to start the playback. I also seem to get a few instances of LaunchBox completely freezing when navigating between games when using VLC as the playback engine with the sidebar open and autoplay video checked on. I get no error messages at all for any of these issues, and the only way to recover is to kill the process.
  22. Would it be possible to change the naming of the installers to actually show the release level of the file, rather than the random string of numbers and letters that it appears to use now? It would make it much easier to see which one to use when there are issues.
