  1. Yeah, that sounds like a corrupt archive.
  2. Yeah, there are different versions, 32 bit ones will work on 64 but not vice versa. Not sure what to tell you other than I just tried that 185 core in my 1.7.1 64 bit install and it works fine.
  3. I edited my post after but are you using the 64 or 32 bit version of Retroarch ?
  4. It's compatible and you don't have to move anything to the \system folder. As long as your rom set is 185 compatible it will work just fine. Are you using the 64 bit or 32 bit version of Rteorarch 1.7.1 ? The core is the 64 bit version, guess I should put that in the download description.
  5. I just got word from Jason that the plan for the Merged set support is to allow for easily selecting which rom is loaded by default so that makes the Merged set a little more attractive. The only extra work would be the actual "bios" files, I wouldn't have to worry about the individual region rom and the download size would be good.
  6. Yeah I would imagine a lot of people avoid the Non Merged because of the size of the download. This is part of the reason I wanted to get this discussion started so early, I want to get as many people viewing this and giving their opinions as possible. I personally like the idea of the Non Merged set because it makes it much easier to add games to it if needed without worrying about bios dependencies but that initial download size is sure to be a turn off for most people.
  7. Thanks, we'll worry more about that though when the time comes. What i'm looking for now more than anything is opinions on which set to use.
  8. Added them, put Narc in the run n gun section
  9. I'll add it.
  10. Yeah I just had the main arcade game, ill add Time as well.
  11. Yeah exactly, the main purpose of this thread for now is to get peoples thoughts and opinions on how it all should be done so once 200 drops ill be ready to go. I'm hoping more people will chime in on the actual games lists, what games need to be added or if any I have on there should be removed.
  12. I simply don't have the download speed to get the CHD files for proper testing. As it is already if I do decide to go with the Non Merged set that would take me several days of constant downloading at 12 Mbit download speeds. Now when the time comes to do all of this if someone wants to get the names of the games that require the CHDs and their file names I can include them in the batch file and someone can test it to make sure it is correct. The original 170 No Filler lists over on the arcadecontrols.com thread included them so if the names havent changed much it shouldn't be a big problem but I would still need a tester when the time comes. jojo kinst kinst2 mace sfiii3 hyperath nagano98 blitz gauntdl gauntleg
  13. For Street Fighter what I was planning on was the Hyper Street Fighter Anniversary one since that lets you pick and choose how the game plays for SF2, CE, Turbo, Super and Super Turbo. Then I was gonna include the 3 Alpha games but leave the EX games out and same with the SF IIIs because those would require CHDs which as I have said I wont be including. This is also why I am starting early on gathering peoples thoughts and opinions on this so early.
  14. Damnit, Merged set would still require bios. I'm not against the Merged or Split sets, it would just more testing time to make sure all the necessary bios files are included.
  15. Oh yeah you're right, ill check the Merged and see.
  16. I looked into the Samurai Shodown rom from the Merged set and it had all the NeoGeo bios files inside of it.
  17. This is also part of the reason for leaning towards either the Merged or Non Merged sets, no mucking about and worrying about "bios" files.
  18. Yeah that's what I was thinking.
  19. The large download of the Non Merged set is going to be a consideration. Even though I have no download caps my internet speed is not great so it will take me a few days to get it all. I just looked at the 195 Non Merged set on pleasuredome and it's 110 gigs. I'm hoping when Jason does his Mame overhaul and support for Merged sets he's able to let us easily set the default rom to load. If he can do that I think I might go with the Merged set. Either way though, what set I end up going with is not decided upon so I definitely want to hear what people have to say on the matter. I also would like to get peoples opinions on what to do about game series. Should this batch pull out entire series of games or just the "best" game of the series. For example all 3 Mortal Kombat or just one, other examples would be Metal Slug, King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown.
  20. Yeah I currently use a split set as well and i'm not set on either of the formats right yet at all so hopefully more people will chime in with their choice, each set has their own pros and cons. I like the idea of the Non Merged set because it is so clean and in theory once the set is curated it should be smaller, neater, easier to manage and add new games into after the fact. But the initial download on the Non Merged is a pig.
  21. Yeah there were some changes made with the Qsound.zip file and the .key file being required in the CPS-2 stuff.
  22. There is already a No Filler batch file to pull out a set of roms here on the forums in the downloads section but it is a little out of date now since it was made for the 170 split rom set. I hoping to get some feed back on what set people would like to see this one be based on, iI'm personally leaning towards the Non Merged set. Non Merged Pros: 1 game 1 rom and no reliance on parent roms Cons: Initial download size will be quite large (over 100 gigs). Merged Pros: Smaller download, all games and variants, upcoming better support for them in Launchbox Cons: Still would be a tad clunky dealing with a menu to pick which game to load. Split Pros: Smaller download, easily customized Cons: Extra work making sure all the parents and clones are included
  23. Yup, agreed. Edited list to reflect 2p, 4p and 6p (X-Men)
  24. I put up my initial list as a starting point, feel free to suggest games to add to the list or even say why certain games I have on the current list shouldn't be on the list. What I have there right now is preliminary and will be refined over the next few months while we wait for the 200 release. I also added to the original post asking whether or not there should be a cap on the total number of games to prevent bloat, please give your thoughts on it. Should the list only contain 1 game per series ? EG: Mortal Kombat, have all 3 games or just 1, same with King of Fighters.
  25. Yeah, thanks for reminding me of that. I meant to put in that I won't be including any games that require uncommon controls or workarounds to play.
