  1. No, it's not necessary at all unless you really need to have some of the more advanced features of it. I don't use it and don't find i am missing out on anything I care about. Advantages: Offers some unique cosmetic and more advanced use features, some of which will be getting implemented into Launchbox in the future (Pause Menu and Loading Screens for example). Other people can give you more detailed advantages. Disadvantages: Has a steep learning curve and sometimes you will have to wait for modules to get updated for a new emulator or new versions.
  2. Can you post a screen cap of your video plugin settings ?
  3. None of the menu functions are hooked up, neither is the right click or double clicking on games, that will all be coming in the very near future.
  4. Here's my settings for both of the default video plugins, these give me a 4:3 aspect ratio.
  5. Oh I do have a 2nd install as well.
  6. Actually my "enough limit" was lower, i'm just too lazy now to bother to go in and remove a whole pile of garbage games and systems I only have for troubleshooting reasons for people on the forums.
  7. Either you will become a total addict and become one of the "must have everything" people or you will get sick of that and become one of the "bah, I got enough and i'm done" people. I'm part of the "I got enough" people, I don't need every system and every game, I have over 11,000 games and that's more than enough games to keep me going til i'm dead.
  8. It gets sent to your email and you download it and put it in your Launchbox folder where the Launchbox.exe is.
  9. Well like I said in an earlier post, I just did a bulk import using a 8.1 stable and no issue. Plus 8.1 has been out for a while now and you're the first person reporting this problem, so if it is a bug you're the first to encounter it.
  10. The file extension doesn't matter when bulk importing and you select all the files you want.
  11. Just did a test on my tester install of Launchbox (version 8.1 stable) and imported a batch of 57 games, all imported perfectly and easily.
  12. Nope, no going back now, you're stuck.
  13. Perhaps you already have your roms imported but under a different platform by accident, check by showing all games and look for your Sega Genesis games you have imported.
  14. But did you go through the import process ? Simply dumping them into the folder doesn't do anything.
  15. You can import your games in bulk using either the Tools > Import Roms method or selecting all your roms in File Explorer and dragging them into Launchbox (this is how I do it). Check out this tutorial video.
  16. Which xml file are you referring to ? There are a whole bunch of them. Any problems you are having importing your games is a weird one, I have never encountered any problems importing any roms outside of my own mistakes such as importing them to an incorrect platform and not finding my games where they should be. What Sega roms exactly are you importing ? Master System, Genesis or another system ?
  17. Launchbox Next is in a very preliminary state right now with a lot of features just not hooked up yet.
  18. Just load the original exe, there's now 3 exe files in the Launchbox install folder.
  19. You can speed it up with the fast forward function, Insert key on the keyboard is the default but it can be mapped to a controller button or combo if you want.
  20. Yup, newer version work fine as long as you have the bios and good disk images.
  21. I think what happens now is if you set the driver to say DX11 and the core doesn't support it it falls back to the GL driver unless you really try and force it through a core override. I am not 100% certain of this however though.
  22. Fullscreen Mode On Windowed Fullscreen Mode Off Though that doesn't matter for the aspect ratio. Not sure why your games are displayed in a full 16:9 aspect ratio when it is set to Core Provided.
  23. There isn't much to do really. For now though it is suggested to the DX11 over DX12 while they work some issues out. One of the benefits of DX11 / 12 and Vulkan is that it removes the need for the Hard GPU Sync and Max Swap Chains settings since it handles that automatically for 0 CPU overhead. Certain cores won't use DX11 / 12 yet since they are still GL dependent. To use shaders with DX11 / 12 you need to use the Slang shaders, CG and GLSL don't work with it.
  24. I have mine set to Aspect Ratio Core Provided as well but Windowed Fullscreen Mode is set to Off. Every game displays in there correct aspect ratio.
