Retroarch Mame for non arcade is a pain in the ass but here is a thread that might be of some help to you.
-
To be clear Launchbox doesn't run roms and can use any rom set as long as the emulator being used supports it. Launchbox merely passes a rom file to an emulator. You say your rom set is 0.120 then you should be using that version of Mame as well. You should also not be using the full set importer with such an old set, you should be importing them like other rom sets. You may also have some settings in the edit emulator window of your emulator setup incorrectly. A common one for Mame and FBA / FBN sets is having the "extract rom" box checked.
-
You should still be able to manually type in the platform name when you import, not just choose from what is in the drop down list. Just make sure that your new platform is added to the associated platforms list in the edit emulator window for the emulator you wish to use with that platform.
-
Extract the zip file of the game to its own folder, it needs all the extra files. Then import the pbp file into Launchbox, it should work.
-
FBN is a different emulator loosely based off of Mame but is different and has its own rom set.
-
Probably not, the Mame 2003 plus set or Final Burn Neo are probably your best bets. The full modern up to date Mame is not meant for lower powered hardware. There is nothing wrong with the Mame 2003 plus set, it fits its niche case use very well.
-
Mame 2003 plus is a "full set" it's just not complete like the latest official Mame sets. The 2003 plus core and set is a forked version of a very old version of Mame made specifically for lower end hardware while adding in games that were not emulated back in 2003 by Mame. It's now its own thing but is not official or supported by the Mame devs, in fact the Mame devs actively hate its very existence.
-
Well I cannot comment on the Android version of LB, I don't use it so I don't know if it's an issue with the importer but as far as I can tell there is no SF3 in the Mame 2003 plus set. So if it is showing in LB and the game is not a part of the set then that would be the issue.
-
Is Street Fighter 3 even in the 2003+ set ? I don't see the rom for it in my set though my set hasn't been updated in quite a while. I also do not see it in the 2 top search results for the set listed on the archive.

Try it out and see. I don't use Mod Organizer though I have used it in the past, I use Vortex and I just loaded my modded Skyrim using the skse_loader.exe with Vortex closed and the game loaded up with all mods. Both mod managers use a virtual folder structure for their modding so I see no reason why this also would not work when using Mod Organizer. Both managers are just using a shortcut to the skse_loader.exe in their UI.
-
Just import or change the imported games exe to the skse exe. As far as I am aware Mod Organizer and Vortex do not launch the game with any special command line parameters. If you have multiple profiles for different mod lists then I don't know how you would go about working around that since you need to swap profiles in the mod manager.

Sorry I do not have a good answer for you, I don't use video files in my LB setup and have never downloaded the multimedia file. I do recall their being a tool that HyperSpin users use to rename files but I couldn't tell you what it is.

Interesting that you dug up a 2 year old thread to claim that puNES is better than anything in Retroarch including Mesen when the accuracy tests show that Mesen is now 100% while puNES is 98%. https://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/NESAccuracyTests puNES is fantastic but Mesen is technically the better emulator. You say puNES has better graphics, it's an NES emulator, how much better can the graphics be while Mesen supports HDpacks. And if you don't like RA for some reason or another there is the stand alone version of Mesen.
-
No need to necro a dead 2 year old thread.

I thought you were having troubles with getting games working in Mame. This thread is about getting Mame games working and bezels are outside the scope of it. Also, I don't use bezels so I cannot help you with them.
-
Search for mame git io, that will take you to the official mame set site, download the set you want and the latest version of mame.

Your Intel, it was a great CPU for its time and is still very capable. You could. Better to build a new one. Any new CPU would require a new motherboard and ram, you would also be getting a new GPU. At that point all that is left to buy is a new power supply and case. I said all of this earlier in the thread. Your knowledge of CPUs is. All your information based on what you have said in this thread is certainly not up to date if you believe that clock speed alone matters and that AMD CPUs are shit.
-
Go ahead and ask them. I knew because all your information is several years old and out of date and at the time of your information AMD was known for being shit at emulation. No, its very old at this point. I currently run an AND Ryzen 2700X and it emulates everything I throw at it, even Wii U PS3 and Switch.
-
Except it's not just about raw clock speed, Intructions Per Clock cycle matter as well plus the new CPUs can match that raw clock speed as well as better IPC. Check the comparison link I posted earlier, it shows that the lower end i5 12th gen out performs your CPU even on single threaded operations by a large margin. Also, if you want to, you can just keep your current system as your emulation PC and build a new PC for modern gaming. It's not like any of your older hardware would be usable in an upgrade, you would need a new motherboard, ram, cpu and gpu and at that point you may as well just get a new power supply and case and hard drive/s, preferably and ssd. Because prior to the Ryzen gen CPUs AMDs were not as good as Intels for emulation because of its IPC. Like I said, my AMD 8350 @ 4GHz could just run Mednafen Saturn smoothly barely. The Ryzen CPUs improved their IPC to match Intels and there is literally no difference in the 2 brand at this specific point in time, that may change in the future of course. It was cheap when I got it and it's older now. Mostly PC gaming nowadays. I don't really play emulated games much lately and when I do it is on my MiSTer + CRT TV setup. Panel manufacturers make a giant panel and then they cut smaller panels out of it and they optimize the wastage by cutting out the sizes that utilize the most of that larger panel. Watch this video by Linus, he explains it, time stamped to the right part.
-
Trust me, any modern CPU currently available, Intel or AMD are all going to out perform that i7 4790 you have. That CPU was and still is a great CPU but the tech has evolved and even the current gen budget CPUs will out perform it in modern games and emulation. And before you even ask, yes, AMD CPUs are just as good as Intels right now, even in emulation. I don't even have a 4K TV, I have an old cheapo 40" 1080 Samsung and I have no intention of upgrading it any time soon. Watching TV shows and movies is not something care that greatly about. My money goes into PC gaming. You will be hard pressed to find 40" TVs, it's just not a size that fits well when cutting them out of the larger panel during production.

Nope, no overclocking required, it just boosts as needed. If you look up your CPU you will see that the 4.0 is base speed but it can boost up to 4.4. It's not really going to burn or wear out faster running at its max speed while gaming. Overclocking, especially extreme overclocking will wear out a CPU faster running it at higher voltages but modern CPUs and hardware will throttle themselves if they get too hot under normal usage (ie: not overclocking). I have no idea where the limits are, im not doing experiments to find out either.
-
The base speed is just the speed it runs at when idle or doing light work loads. The boost speed is what the CPU can go up to when under load and as needed. Absolutely and it makes a big difference one you see it in person. These are just bullshit internet lies. I remember back when running a game at 30 fps was a big deal and many people said that 26 fps was all that was needed because that was what films are at. People can even perceive the difference between 120 and 240 fps. The human eye is not some digital instrument that has hard limits, you just start to run into diminishing returns and the increases in framerate and resolution need to get in order of magnitudes larger to perceive the difference. For example going from 30 fps to 60 is quite big and then 60 to 120 is almost as big in terms of perception goes but its an extra 60 fps vs 30, then the next step is 240 fps. You can see where this is going.
