In the past the best place to get a full up to date Mame rom set was either from PleasureDome which had a complicated application process to gain access and you had to maintain a share ratio to keep access or you went to The Internet Archive and dealt with out of date sets and extremely slow download speeds. The PleasureDome has shut down their private tracker which sucked for several reasons but they have since moved their Mame downloads to a new site which is easily accessible to all and no share ratios to maintain. To find the site simply search Google for "pleasuredome mame". You should find this page: From here scroll down to find the full sets, you are looking for this section: For the typical users what you want is either the merged or split sets, which would be the 1st and 3rd links in the picture above. The CHDs are optional downloads and needed for a small handful of games but the download is quite large. The links will open a magnet torrent link which your torrent client should auto recognize. I highly recommend using qBittorrent found here: https://www.qbittorrent.org You can look up guides on using bit torrent if you are new to it, I won't be going into how to use the software. As a bonus to this guide, once you have your full set and want to use it in Launchbox watch and follow the guide on the YouTube channel:

This is what you are looking for on the pleasuredome site. You want the merged or split set, either are fine. The dat files and non merged are useless in this scenario.

I get the frustration but we do try and help people through the issues, we understand it's not always super straight forward. Such is the nature of emulation where there is often legal hurdles to navigate. We would love to be able to just package up everything neat and tidy for people but legally that is a nightmare scenario.

Ok so you downloaded some 20 year old rom set and tried using the full set importer ? If so that is never going to work. If you downloaded the full set from the site I mentioned above I assure it is has all the roms, they are not empty.
-
@ETAPRIMEdoes great work on his tutorials, I suggest you follow it closely and every thing should work for you barring some other oddball issue that we have no control over.
-
Ok listen up, it really is not that hard and your aggressive tone here is not sitting well so I suggest you calm down and ask your questions instead of throwing insults.
-
Did you download the rom set ? It seems you are misunderstanding how the full set importer works. Your posts make it sound like you are expecting the roms to just magically be on your system when you need to go and download them. I have told you what to google for the latest up to date complete set.

We can't link roms and it's not a case of going to jail, it's a case of Jason being sued for everything he is worth which in many cases is worse than jail. And no one is afraid to tell you where to get roms, if you did any searching here on the forums at all we tell people what to google or even precise names of sites without links. If you want the latest mame set google for "pleasuredome git io". This is a lot more information than you will get any other place, any where else you will told where to go and in a hurry. If you think Launchbox is going to download roms for you then you are sadly mistaken and no other legit software out there will download them for you either.

The red screen is normal for X-Men, there may be a different revision that removes it but I just tested it and it has the red screen.

Yes, just import your Mame rom set like you would any other set instead of the full set import tool. I have a hand picked Mame set in my LB setup and I use Non Merged set roms because they are a fully working game per zip file.

Launchbox downloads the same Mame you get from the official site, it is not gimped in any way. The HLSL sliders from the ~ menu have to be cycled through to get to each setting and they are temporary, they go away after you shut down Mame. You need to edit the raster or vector ini files to make the settings permanent.

All you need is to enable hlsl and that is it. What sort of graphics card do you have ? Yours may not work with it.

Big Box Voice Search
Lordmonkus replied to Fry's topic in Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Released)
It used to be a part of LB but it was more problematic than it was worth so it was removed. -
black screen, missing files, everythings going insane
Lordmonkus replied to ShiestGuy's topic in Noobs
If you Google for "pleasuredome git io" you will find the latest full Mame rom sets available. -
If you Google search for "pleasuredome git io" you will find the latest and up to date rom set releases. Using the latest version of Mame with that 0.37 rom set is not going to work at all for you.

LaunchBox Adding DreamCast Track Files As Separate Entries
Lordmonkus replied to ChristopherNeff's topic in Troubleshooting
The best way to import is to only import the main file you need to load such as the cue file or gdi file, it depends on the format your disk images are in. The best way to do that is to use your Windows file manager and navigate to the folder where your disk images are and use the search function and type in something like *.cue or *.gdi This will then only show those file types, select all and drag into Launchbox to begin the import process. Removing the track files from Launchbox will not break the games as long as you never enabled the delete file when removing from Launchbox option which is off by default. -
Console hardware never put out a video signal for this but I do believe there are shaders available for head 2 head 2 display output. I can't say for certain there is of course but I do seem to recall seeing one a long time ago.

https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/issues/5374 "command line only accepts path to executable files to boot, it does not handle pkg/license installation, you'll have to do this manually through UI." This post was from 2018 so things may have changed since then.

You will be much better off asking this on the dosbox forums than here. This is a forum for Launchbox frontend which just happens to support launching games through dosbox. https://www.vogons.org/viewforum.php?f=53

PKG files are installer files, they are not working game images on its own.

Check the performance settings window and set it to performance mode when on battery power, this of course will drain the battery faster though.
-
My first guess would be that when it is running on battery power it is throttling the performance.

My setup is very basic, no third party apps or things like startup videos or anything. It's just LB and Dolphin. Do you have some sort of "close app" AHK script setup for Dolphin in LB ? There shouldn't be one because none is needed, Dolphin uses escape to close out. You say pressing the back button on the controller causes the crash and it happens in Playnite as well, is it only the back button or is it in combination with another button on the controller ? Do you run any 3rd party controller software ?

Right-click bug in LaunchBox interface
Lordmonkus replied to chinagreenelvis's topic in Troubleshooting
Doing a quick test here and a single right click does not load a game but a double click will bring up the menu on the first click and the second click activates the Play button in that menu. If you are double right clicking intentionally then you shouldn't be double right clicking in the first place, nothing in Windows ever requires a double right click. If the double right click is accidental then I don't know what might be causing that.
