  1. Don't know, I don't bother with CHDs myself.
  2. The last full import I did was with the 178 set and your number is fairly close to what I had. I believe it was somewhere around 2800+ after the full import and then after some manual cleaning out I am sitting on 2657 games.l
  3. You can have those command parameters if you wish or you can simply set those settings in the mame.ini file if you prefer. skip_gameinfo 1 window 0
  4. An emulator running compared to a game programmed natively for the OS is completely different and cannot be compared. Even perfect 100% Snes emulation using the BSnes Accuracy core or the Higan emulator requires a 3 Ghz cpu which is quite a lot compared the the original Snes hardware. The Pi does run the emulation just fine but I am assuming it is using some of the same tweaks to get it running smoothly as we are using here like the Hard GPU Sync Frames or possibly even Threaded Video On. But like you have seen you can get it running just fine, it's just a matter of fine tuning and tweaking certain settings. These specific settings like Hard GPU Sync and Frame Delay effect input lag so the Pi is probably sacrificing a little bit of input lag for smoother gameplay.
  5. What is the CPU speed though ? Playstation and SNES (BSnes cores) emulation through Retroarch is not exactly the most lightweight cores though. It could also be the shader is pushing it to its limits since there is no dedicated GPU in a NUC (Intel HD Graphics chips are crap).
  6. Well there is a whole bunch of things that sort of work together here that could cause the issue depending on your hardware, more specifically your CPU speed and core you are using. Frame Delay ties to V-Sync and input lag, you want to have it has high as you can before sound issues pop up then you just dial it back one step. The higher you set it the less input lag you will have but more demand gets put on your CPU and in turn causes issues. Shaders can increase the load on your hardware and depending on the shader being used some will have a larger effect. the easymode shader is not a terribly heavy shader at all. If you want to try without a shader you can but that will be up to you. Or you could try another shader like hyllian or crt-pi which are very light weight shaders and see if those have a look you like and have any difference in performance for you.
  7. What happens if you set frame delay to 0 and hard gpu sync frames to 1 ? Also are you using any shaders at all ?
  8. It should only ask for the date and time once per game and right now unfortunately there is no way to prevent this unless you use the stand alone version of Mednafen Saturn.
  9. Yeah, setting it to 1 just gives a little more headroom to the CPU. 0 is perfect sync and is ideal but 1 is better than turning off Hard GPU Sync.
  10. Could just be the emulation, 3DO is poorly emulated for now. Samurai Shodown for me has a mostly black background apart from a few rows of pixels at the top. The characters, health bars and timer all work fine and so do sound. Street Fighter works fine for me other than the fact the emulator doesn't have 6 button controller support. As far as configuration is concerned there is only one core option for high resolution which is mediocre at best.
  11. Profiles is something I have asked for and I believe it is on the "to-do list".
  12. If those games are using Direct X or OpenGL then ReShade or SweetFX should work with some tweaking. I have used it in the past for a CRT effect in SSF. I wouldn't say it's the best CRT effect but it is ok. It just takes some tinkering to get the right settings for your display.
  13. You could use Retroarch's DosBox but it's not as good or easy to use as the stand alone version.
  14. Reshade and SweetFX might be worth looking into. Not sure if it will work with Dos or not though, depends on if the program is using Direct X or not.
  15. Before disabling Hard Gpu Sync try bumping up the Hard Gpu Sync Frames to 1 or 2. Also check the Frame Delay setting and make sure that isn't set too high if it is set to anything higher than 0.
  16. I guess it could be something in the controller itself, I know Windows 10 controller drivers like to take control of it unless you roll back the driver. Another program to look into is Controller Companion on Steam (don't need Steam running to use it though) and it's only a couple of bucks to buy.
  17. Non arcade stuff like consoles and older pcs need weird shit done to the \system folder but as far as I know the standard run of the mill arcade stuff doesn't. It also quite possible that the stuff I tried did not need any bios files at all, my patience with Mame through Retroarch grew thin after I quickly realized how limited it was compared to stand alone. I suppose I could try something that needs a bios like some Atari or Sega system 16 stuff. I know nothing about chds, I never bothered to waste my limited bandwidth on them.
  18. I've never had to do it to get my Mame roms to work in Retroarch with the Mame core. It's like Neo Geo, the bios for it go in the folder with the roms and not the \system folder.
  19. Right, as long as the files are in the same folder it's fine.
  20. Yes Japanese roms work just fine if you have the Japanese bios files as well.
  21. By the looks of the screenshot you posted you have the parent rom which is the 4 player one, you need the 2 player clone rom file to go with it which is what you would put in the same folder as the rest of your roms but you point Launchbox to it instead. Since your set is only 4.4 gigs in size you are probably missing a whole pile of clone roms which may be needed depending on the version of games you want to play. You are also probably missing the 2 player versions of TMNT and X-Men as well. The full set is 50 gig set is not really necessary but it is complete and has absolutely everything you could need which in the end does make certain things much easier. You can probably just find the 2 player clone files for the games you want with a little searching.
