I'm really not sure what you mean. What emulator are you talking about specifically ?

All emulators are an .exe of some sort but in the case of Retroarch you also have the "core" as well which the .exe runs. The cores are the actual emulators that the main retroarch.exe runs determining which system you are emulating.

They were beta but version 7 final released today with it in there.

Does the Scan for added and Scan for removed roms feature not work ?

Yeah I think you will have to do it on a game by game basis but fortunately it is just once per game. I was not able to figure out how to have it for all games in one step. Edit: If you prefer to use Mame for NeoGeo and want to use the UniBios open your mame.ini file and look for the line "bios", there should be nothing to the right. Change this line to: bios unibios30 Or if you have version 3.1 - unibios31. You access the UniBios menu the same way as with FBA, pressing A+B+C together. But you will also need to adjust the actual settings on a game by game basis.

Default would be A+B+X on the XBox controller.

When you set up your UniBios it should remember what you have set it to, it does for me at least.

The actual UniBios file should be inside your neogeo.zip bios file and that file goes in the same folder as your NeoGeo roms. Here's a screenshot of the inside of my neogeo.zip, though yours may be a bit different, but you should have at least UniBios version 3.0 or maybe even 3.1.The way you actually setup your UniBios in Retroarch though is with game loaded bring up the RA quick menu and go into the core options. In there for Bios select Unibios and then a little further down you can select specific version of Unibios if it detects you have multiple versions. Exit out and restart your game, if everything went well you should now see a different boot screen telling you that it is UniBios. At this screen if you press A+B+C buttons all all the same time it will take you into the UniBios config and in here you can set your region and whether or not it is the console or arcade version of the game.

I won't comment on the stand alone version of FBA but in the Retroarch FBA core you can set it to use the UniBios in the core options. In Mame or Mess if you edit the mame.ini file to make it use them, unfortunately I forget how to do it but I did do it once before. Using the Retroarch FBA core is your best bet.

Given your system specs you should be seeing better performance than you are describing, I'd look into optimizing your Windows and look for unnecessary processes and applications.

Nothing else in Launchbox itself, there are things you can check and do with your computer to make sure it is running properly and not getting bogged down by back ground processes. Check out this thread on some stuff suggested.

Indeed It was my parents old computer they bought years ago as a refurb back then. It handles up to Playstation 1 (ePSXe) and Retroarch and Mame with shaders just fine though.

You may need to scroll through your games once to cache in all the images but performance should be fine on your system. If you want to turn off all the transition effects by setting them to none and the coverflow image mirror opacity to 0 that could help. I do those settings just because I prefer it that way and everything on my main system is butter smooth. On my weak ass HTPC using just the normal text list view with all the effects off and 2500 games everything is smooth as well, other views not so much but the system is a toaster, 10 year old AMD 2.2 GHz cpu, 2 Gigs ram and a 1 Gig ddr5 video card.

No upgrade issues here for me yet.

Yeah all I was saying was that I don't see any performance issues using Windows 8.1. So im completely stumped as to what is causing some peoples performance issues.

Well Jason and Brad both say Windows 10 is a help but I don't use it and performance is fine. I should also mention that my install is on a Western Digital Red 2 TB SATA hard drive. This performance issue seems to be tricky to narrow down because it is not affecting all users.

We have another thread talking quite a lot about this sort of thing and it seems to be a problem for some people and not a problem for others like myself. Here is that other thread if you want to take a look. First I would test though and see if you have issues using the default themes built into Launchbox instead of 3rd party ones. Other things I would suggest trying just to see if it makes any difference to your performance is in the Transitions section set them all to none. Then in Images lower your Coverflow Image Quality 1 notch, you really shouldn't see much if any difference in the boxart quality. Also in there set the Coverflow Reflection Opacity to 0%. Like I said though, others are having some issues but on my main gaming rig which has an AMD 8350 @4 GHz, 16 gigs of ram and an GTX 970 GPU (Graphics card does help in BigBox mode) and everything runs butter smooth with the changes I suggested above. I also do not use any 3rd party themes at all.

Still though I don't think people will appreciate spending over 100$ for Windows 10 when they either don't want to or need to just to get better performance from Launchbox when it shouldn't be necessary. Like I said previously I do understand that at some point it will be inevitable to move on like it was for XP and Vista but that time is not here yet for Win 7 and 8. I have stated earlier I have no performance issues on my systems using Win 7 32 bit and Win 8.1 64 bit. I just really would hate to see the generic go to response to performance issues to become "install Windows 10" at this point in time.

Ok. If you could get me a couple of screen shots of a rom path to a game and to one of your emulators that would help me out in helping troubleshoot this for you. Here is a couple of example screenshots from my setup for an NES rom and my NES emulator.

When you imported your roms did you import them from the external drive ? Are the paths to your emulators setup correctly in Launchbox ? Did you by some odd chance get this pre setup from someone else who had their roms and / or emulators set up on D:\ drive ?

I used it for my HTPC build and worked great so far.

It's very much dependent upon the hardware though. My HTPC for example would not accept a Windows 10 install, I tried and it just crapped out because the hardware was not 64 bit compatible.
