I keep a 120 SSD for my system drive, a 256 SSD for games with longer load times (like newer steam games) and a 3tb HDD for all other storage (games, movies, music, etc). This covers all the bases.

You might want to try the audio sync enable option in the Retroarch audio options also.

Well, I did have configs for all the different cores but I just decided to reinstall everything and start fresh. I'm trying to keep it set on one config this time so it's less confusing, but at some point I will have to start using some per-core options. That device index option was stuck on one setting for some reason before I reinstalled, but it's all working normally now. Hopefully, I can avoid screwing it up again.

My controller seems to have stopped responding in Retroarch (games and menu). I have been wondering how to change the default configurations for Retroarch. It seems like any time I change a setting it only changes for a specific core... for example if I change the menu wallpaper it only changes for the core I am using and then if I change cores it is right back to the default Retroarch wallpaper. So, for things like that I want to be able to change it globally, as well as changing my controller input settings globally to fix that problem. For some things, I want to change them core-specific, but I'm wondering how I get back to changing things globally in the Retroarch settings.

Check your settings under drivers > audio as well, and make sure you have it on dsound, or whatever the best choice is for your system.

DOS76 said I see on a site that there are more games than are listed in the loader I am guessing that these games aren't playable in Daphne as of yet. I think Mad Dog McCree and Johnny Rock, etc used to be playable, but I could be mistaken. This would have been back before the whole Digital Leisure thing. Also, there are some that are playable in MAME as CHD's, like Cubequest, which is like a laserdisc Tempest.

CriticalCid said I already mapped the two buttons in Daphne Loader but they don't work in game. Other buttons like LB or RB are working toally fine if I map them to coin and start. Hmm... that's odd. Not sure what to say. I use select for my coin and start for, well... start. Hope you are able to get it working.
-
You will have to map the select and start buttons. With the analog stick, it seems like it isn't recognizing it in the input configuration screen, but like you said, will work in the game. So you will just have to map the buttons.

I'm using my xbox one controller analog in Daphne without xpadder. If I recall I just had to remap the buttons and not the stick.

I tried setting those options in the loader but they didn't work. I probably need to get the DVD set and download all the files directly from Daphne. I really wish the DRM wasn't based on an out of print and obscure DVD set. They should set it up to check for the Steam version since that's all DL is selling now.

Is there a Daphne setting that can eliminate the brief text that sometimes flashes in between scenes in Dragon's Lair?
-
Ok, I was able to get it stretched using the override in the Nvidia control panel... I'm just poking around to see if this has messed up any other games/emulators/programs now... hopefully, it all works out. Thanks for hanging in there with me. :)
-
All my emulators and games are stretching properly, as well as Daphne working properly before, which made me think it must be something in Daphne. I did upgrade my monitor about a week ago, but nothing else has been affected. I'll look at the monitor settings and see if it might be something in there although I don't really think it has too much that can be tweaked in the options.

Sorry, by tweaking I just meant that, because I already had the files and didn't download them through Daphne that I had to "standardize" everything following your tutorial. After I did that it launched perfectly through Launchbox. I still can't get the aspect ratio working. I tried editing the bat like you suggested, above, but it's still 4:3. It has to be something else in the Daphne settings but I can't seem to figure it.
-
Thanks for the reply. I was able, with just a bit of tweaking, to get the games launching from Launchbox, following your tutorial... which is great! Thanks. I just can't seem to get the screen stretching to work though... even using your advice to change the .bat resolution to 1024... it still plays in 4:3. I wish I knew what happened because these games did used to play in 16:9 in Daphne for me.
-
Ah, I see it... thank you.

Along these lines, it would also be useful to have a "back" button on each screen of the importing new rom files wizard. It's frustrating to make a mistake almost at the end and have to cancel and re-do.

Great tutorial... nice work! I have been having a problem with Daphne's last couple versions that I can't get the "ignore aspect ratio" option to work (to stretch full screen). It used to work fine, but now it won't. I started a conversation about this on the Daphne forums, but their forum disabled my account for spam??? No idea... lol. Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had encountered that problem recently. Thanks.

I tried to play some San Francisco Rush in MAME earlier and the controls were really messed up using my xbox controller. I will have to spend some time trying to figure out good control schemes for these games.
-
I just looked that up... would probably be an awkward spinner, but looks like a really nice racing game wheel.
-
I read somewhere that you can convert the old Jaguar system driving controllers into a spinner for the PC but I'm sure that's more electronic fidgeting than I want to get into. :)
-
I guess this wasn't a very good question... what I'm trying to do is play some of the old trackball games... Tempest specifically (which was a spinner actually, I suppose) and some other ones. I used to have it set up properly years ago as far as I can remember, but I'm using an xbox controller for most emulated games now, and the analog stick makes you jump all over the place in Tempest and some of the trackball games and even driving games. So, really I was just wondering what other people use for those games. I tried the mouse and it didn't really give me that retro-authentic feeling. :)
-
Does anyone have good analog stick settings for trackball games in MAME that they would like to share? Thanks.

Ok, found a working file and I'm back in business. Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it. In the process, I found that I had a couple other bad or outdated bios files as well, and I've got them fixed now too.
-
Thanks for the info... that gets me headed in the right direction. I had an update neogeo.zip... when I looked in it, it only had the v2.bin file you mentioned but none of the old files, so I tried merging it with an old version but that didn't work... so, I think I just need to look around for that new bios... I seem to be finding a lot of bad ones though.
