  1. Another question... Can the marquee art be imported as the "front" art in Launchbox so that it shows as the main picture, if you want to use that instead of the flyers? I'm actually getting pretty excited about this importer... I can't wait to get my mame games in LB.
  2. Antropus said Update that you might enjoy: - Control Type and Number of Buttons added as a Custom Fields -Kris I can't remember, but do the control type categories include 4-way and 8-way controls? This is related to another thread where we were talking about joysticks. There is a video where a guy is using servo joysticks in his cabinet and they automatically switch the 4 or 8 way restrictor in the joystick based on which type the frontend reports that the game requires. So he can select a game, the frontend tells the joysticks which type of game it is and it changes to 4 or 8 way controls. It's pretty insane. That's more of an advanced thing... but would be super cool to be able to do this. *edit* I just enlarged your pic above and saw that it shows 8-way controls... so that is awesome and please disregard. lol
  3. That sounds really awesome, but I have to stick to the basics. The 4-way joystick thing is an issue though.
  4. I was just happy to get a big joystick and trackball to use on my computer monitor... haha.
  5. Wow... that setup is absolutely awesome. Even just the cab is amazing.
  6. I hope not... lol.
  7. That Mag-Stick plus seems like a pretty good solution. You just pull up and twist to change from 4 to 8 way. Pretty expensive to do both sticks with ball top, though... maybe I can just start with changing out the left stick.
  8. The second guy down in this thread says the Happ Super set to 4-way will also allow diagonals... Isn't that the controller that comes in the tankstick? http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=100531
  9. lordmonkus said NOTE: If you are using a newer version of MAME or playing a console version of a 4-way arcade game, you do not need a dedicated 4-way joystick. This is because they have a software emulated 4-way mode that simply interprets diagonals as the next direction instead of getting stuck. " Thanks for that info... that's exactly what I'm looking for. I need to find out how to get that working in MAME because it doesn't seem to be activated by default.
  10. DOS76 said I'd like to have a nice spinner control (would be great for MAME and for some Atari 2600 Ka-Boom) and trackball also but you pretty much have to build those yourself too. Yeah, I got the tankstick because of the trackball and it's supposed to be pretty easy to add a spinner, which I would like for Tempest and Arkanoid and some others.
  11. Yeah, I agree... My problem is that I may want to play some pac-man and then go to some Smash TV and you need the diagonals (or any other number of games, I just picked that off the top of my head). I'm trying to find the best way to do this without a hardware operation on a daily basis.
  12. I had considered putting in some new sticks... I'm mostly into the older games so ball tops would be nice. Do you have a recommendation for a good all-around stick for 4 and 8 way games? I have heard the name Sanwa as a good brand but I don't know much about it really.
  13. I just picked up an X-Arcade tankstick, and my biggest disappointment with it is that the 8-way stick causes a lot of problems getting "stuck" in games that were originally 4-way (Mr. Do, Pac Man, etc). My question for X-Arcade users... is there a way in MAME to disable diagonal movement in these games? I read that you can modify the sticks on the X-Arcade to make them 4-way mode, but the problem is that I don't want to re-open the box and make modifications each time I want to play an 8-way or 4-way game. Please let me know what solution you are using. Thanks a bunch.
  14. Apparently, if you check the new posts in the original MAMEUIFX thread in the OP, he is now deciding to try to continue development.
  15. Yeah, this looks great... I was looking for something like this not too long ago, and I'm guessing a lot of other people will be interested as well.
  16. I was also interested in doing this, but not sure if it's possible.
  17. Looks awesome.
  18. Honestly, I'm not sure. I think MAMEUIFX is mostly based on MAMEUI so I would guess that they are the same. I added about 600 games to my favorites list (I was basically using the favorites as a filter to weed out the games I didn't want) so to get those directly to LB would be a real time saver. Here's a screenshot if it is still helpful. I used the Am. spelling of "favorites" at some point and ended up with 2 folders, but I'm sure you can get the idea.
  19. Antropus said Drybonz said If you can find a way to filter out the gambling and mahjong games that would be amazing. That is covered already, among other most common filters. If you guys can wait a bit, I can get you a functional version over the weekend. Not complete, but functional enough for you to test and get your library going. It's only tested on windows10 so far. If that's your OS, you guys should be good to go! -Kris Sounds great. I had a thread recently about wanting to delete the gambling and mahjong games from my romset, but an easy filter will be great as well. *edit* Another thing that would be useful... I use MAMEUIFX and if I could export the "favorites" folder from that into a platform on LB, that would make life very easy.
  20. I'm also just at the point where I want to add MAME roms to Launchbox and I found this thread... so I'm looking forward to checking this out. If you can find a way to filter out the gambling and mahjong games that would be amazing.
  21. I had always wanted a Hanaho back in the day but never got one... so I have finally ordered an X-arcade tankstick. Should be here in a couple days and I'm pretty excited about getting it set up for MAME.
  22. Weird... I don't have one. *edit* Oh... you have to turn the toolbar on to use it. Thanks for the help.
  23. Anyone know how to do a keyword search for games in MAMEUIFX? Thanks.
  24. My first system was a Radio Shack TRS-80, which was a crappy computer. It used audio cassettes to write save information. It had some choose-your-own-adventure style text games and a game called python which might have been the first version of the "snake" game that people play on their cell phones. Then to Atari 2600 and an early PC that ran on 5 1/4" floppy disks with no hard drive. I started out on games like the original Rogue and Starflight (which was remade on Genesis years later). I also had access to a Mac II at a friend's house and we played games like Enchanted Scepters and Ultima III in black and white. Those games can be emulated now on miniVmac with some effort. On to NES, Genesis, SNES, Sega CD, Playstation, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, Gamecube, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 (I think in that order... maybe I missed something). PC was always there as well... upgrading over the years. It would be hard to pick a favorite system. I have a fondness still for the Sega Saturn, although maybe the NES made the biggest impression on me overall.
  25. Ok, sorry for the trouble.
