  1. I just picked up an X-Arcade tankstick, and my biggest disappointment with it is that the 8-way stick causes a lot of problems getting "stuck" in games that were originally 4-way (Mr. Do, Pac Man, etc). My question for X-Arcade users... is there a way in MAME to disable diagonal movement in these games? I read that you can modify the sticks on the X-Arcade to make them 4-way mode, but the problem is that I don't want to re-open the box and make modifications each time I want to play an 8-way or 4-way game. Please let me know what solution you are using. Thanks a bunch.
  2. Apparently, if you check the new posts in the original MAMEUIFX thread in the OP, he is now deciding to try to continue development.
  3. Yeah, this looks great... I was looking for something like this not too long ago, and I'm guessing a lot of other people will be interested as well.
  4. I was also interested in doing this, but not sure if it's possible.
  5. Looks awesome.
  6. Honestly, I'm not sure. I think MAMEUIFX is mostly based on MAMEUI so I would guess that they are the same. I added about 600 games to my favorites list (I was basically using the favorites as a filter to weed out the games I didn't want) so to get those directly to LB would be a real time saver. Here's a screenshot if it is still helpful. I used the Am. spelling of "favorites" at some point and ended up with 2 folders, but I'm sure you can get the idea.
  7. Antropus said Drybonz said If you can find a way to filter out the gambling and mahjong games that would be amazing. That is covered already, among other most common filters. If you guys can wait a bit, I can get you a functional version over the weekend. Not complete, but functional enough for you to test and get your library going. It's only tested on windows10 so far. If that's your OS, you guys should be good to go! -Kris Sounds great. I had a thread recently about wanting to delete the gambling and mahjong games from my romset, but an easy filter will be great as well. *edit* Another thing that would be useful... I use MAMEUIFX and if I could export the "favorites" folder from that into a platform on LB, that would make life very easy.
  8. I'm also just at the point where I want to add MAME roms to Launchbox and I found this thread... so I'm looking forward to checking this out. If you can find a way to filter out the gambling and mahjong games that would be amazing.
  9. I had always wanted a Hanaho back in the day but never got one... so I have finally ordered an X-arcade tankstick. Should be here in a couple days and I'm pretty excited about getting it set up for MAME.
  10. Weird... I don't have one. *edit* Oh... you have to turn the toolbar on to use it. Thanks for the help.
  11. Anyone know how to do a keyword search for games in MAMEUIFX? Thanks.
  12. My first system was a Radio Shack TRS-80, which was a crappy computer. It used audio cassettes to write save information. It had some choose-your-own-adventure style text games and a game called python which might have been the first version of the "snake" game that people play on their cell phones. Then to Atari 2600 and an early PC that ran on 5 1/4" floppy disks with no hard drive. I started out on games like the original Rogue and Starflight (which was remade on Genesis years later). I also had access to a Mac II at a friend's house and we played games like Enchanted Scepters and Ultima III in black and white. Those games can be emulated now on miniVmac with some effort. On to NES, Genesis, SNES, Sega CD, Playstation, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, Gamecube, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 (I think in that order... maybe I missed something). PC was always there as well... upgrading over the years. It would be hard to pick a favorite system. I have a fondness still for the Sega Saturn, although maybe the NES made the biggest impression on me overall.
  13. Ok, sorry for the trouble.
  14. lordmonkus said Could just be the hub is a piece of shit, it is an old one I had for a good number of years now. I'm using this... http://www.amazon.com/Anker-10-Port-Transfer-PowerIQ-Charging/dp/B00VDVCQ84/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457059651&sr=8-3&keywords=anker+usb+hub It's probably a little pricey, but it's worked well.
  15. lordmonkus said Yeah for PC use the Horis need to be set to PS3 to work. The only complaint I have is that I have to plug it directly into a USB port on my laptop hooked up to the tv. If I go through a powered USB hub Windows says it doesn't have enough power. That's weird... I have mine connected to a powered USB hub.
  16. I probably won't sign up for Bitbucket... not because I want to be obstinate, I'm just signed up for so many sites that I have forgotten about most of them and I can already submit feedback here, where I can also talk to all you nice people. I try to brainstorm for ideas, but I don't expect you guys to use them if you don't want to. Feel free to use or disregard.
  17. The newer "kidney bean" shaped Hori also has a PC setting that allows it to be used with xinput as well... although, honestly, I haven't found an emulator yet that mine doesn't work with if I set it to PS3. It wouldn't work with SSF if I set it to PS4, but SSF was fine in PS3 mode.
  18. lordmonkus said This one ? link That one does look cool but after using the other "odd shaped" one I think I like the odd shape better, it is so comfortable. If only there was a pc version of these old Sega wireless 6 button controllers. link I have a pair of these from way back in the day and they are amazing in the hand and the d-pad is absolutely perfect. Yeah, that one... they have them cheaper on PlayAsia. There was an official Sega Saturn USB pad, but they only made them for a really short time so they are rare, and when there is one on ebay it's like $100. I use my old Sega Saturn pad with this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Sega-Saturn-Controller-Adapter/dp/B0089O10BC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457057827&sr=8-1&keywords=mayflash+saturn
  19. lordmonkus said @Drybonz Yeah, it's a really sweet controller for anything that doesn't require an analog stick. The d-pad an buttons just feel so right, quick and responsive. Yeah, I had seen them on Amazon but didn't want to pick one up without seeing the d-pad up close. When I saw it on sale I snagged it. After using it, I can't believe they aren't more well-known in the emulation circles. They have a weird shape, but it's really comfortable in the hands. I also saw that they have a newer model that has the classic Genesis kidney bean shape.
  20. Found a pic...
  21. It's wired... which is my personal preference, although I know some people like wireless. I have these 2 old Hori Dreamcast fighting joysticks that I want to get a Mayflash adapter for so I can use them for MAME. Not sure if you have seen these, they are a weird green color and pretty nicely made... heavy duty. I don't think I have used them since the Dreamcast days.
  22. I really like the "open games folder" option on the context menu... it would be even better and more convenient if it opened the window with the file on screen and highlighted so you don't have to manually search for each one. This saves a lot of time if you are looking for multiple files to delete, etc...
  23. I want to put in a good word for the Hori Fighting Commander. I just picked one of these up at Gamestop (on clearance $30, you might check your local store if interested) and this controller has really impressed me. It's got a comfortable d-pad with angle rotation so that you can skew the d-pad to make it more natural to your hand (I was skeptical but I love it), 6 button "genesis style" so you can use it for nintendo or sega systems, turbo that you can apply to any button on the fly, 4 shoulder buttons that you can use as the shoulder 1-2 or remap (with the flick of a switch) the L3-R3 to one set of shoulder buttons if you are using the L1-R1 as the 3rd and 6th (sega) buttons, angle sensitivity switch on the d-pad (in case your diagonal shots make you crouch too much in a game you can adjust the diagonal "dead zone" on the d-pad), and Windows 8 recognized it immediately. It's worked on every emulator I have tried so far perfectly. I can see this becoming my go-to controller for all the old systems that don't need analog sticks.
  24. DOS76 said The 76 in my user name refers to when I was born Same here! :) SentaiBrad said F1 opens the Retro Arch menu It took me forever to figure this out. You can actually see a list of the default hotkeys if you go into Settings>Input>Input Hotkey Binds. That's a helpful place to look. *edit* Also, games going really fast can be related to monitor refresh rate and vsync too. I had my refresh rate set to 144 (my monitor's cap) at one point in RA and half the cores were playing in hyperspeed so I had to set it back to 60. *edit* Just noticed lordmonkus already mentioned the Hotkey settings... sorry about that.
  25. I used to use Kega... in fact, I remember when it was released and it was a really big deal because it was so good (probably tells you I am older... lol). I can also say that RetroArch was the ultimate nightmare of emulation for me, as far as setting everything up goes. I have to admit, though, once I got it up and running, it is really sweet. I have a love-hate relationship with it. Mostly love once I got everything set up, but I remember that rough patch we went through... haha. I'm using the Genesis Plus GX core (Except for 32x I use Pico) and it is really nice. The graphics are really smooth on games like Sonic that move quickly as compared to Kega where sometimes the background would seem a bit blurred or hard to follow. The shaders look really great and overall I just like it better. Kega was definitely a legend in its time though.
