scree said The trick is in getting Mame to see that there is no artwork available for a particular game and use your default. To do this the default artwork needs to be a part of Mame, so you need to compile your own Mame. Scroll down through the link for help on this. Hmm... I guess I'm either going to have to figure out how to compile MAME or figure out how to run RocketLauncher. RL will probably be the most flexible in the long run for bezels.
  2. For Turbografx CD you want to use the Mednafen PCE core... it is really great, even better than the old Magic Engine from back in the day, IMO. Also, the .bin/cues that work are usually about 500mb. The smaller ones that you find for download or the iso mp3/wav format almost never work with anything.

Thanks... I am checking these out. Any new source is appreciated. It looks like it's going to be hard to find any bezels (even re-worked ones) that don't appear on Mr. Do's site... so I need to get a default one set up for games that don't have official art.
  4. ...was released a few days ago. http://www.libretro.com/ A couple things that stood out to me in the release notes are that there is going to be OpenGL in the Mednafen PSX core soon, and also that they are going to try to do weekly stable releases soon. There were some other nice things in there as well, like a new early stage PSX core.

SentaiBrad said A "Simple" generator for these files for users to create: http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_lay.php Nice... thank you. I may have to try it if I can't find some pre-mades.

Thanks guys... I did find some stuff on the RL forums, but unfortunately it's stuff that requires RL, which is too complicated for me. I'm looking for the basic MAME .lay file stuff. I have a basic pack I got from Mr. Do's or some other place but it has many, many missing games and no default generic bezels. Thanks again.

Does anyone know of a source for some nice classic looking default bezels for MAME (for the games that don't have artwork)? Or some widescreen format bezels? Been searching quite a bit today and can't find anything. Any help is appreciated.
  8. Yeah, I've just been kind of dealing with them as they pop up. I'm sure I'll have it all sorted eventually.
  9. It knows when you make a single change because the change is in a highlighted blue or purple color in the options... so those single changes should be global (when made from the global options dialog)... IMO... I'm sure it's not going to change at any point, though, and it's really just a matter of I need to learn how it works. lol :)
  10. If I rename the Super Nintendo platform to Nintendo (SNES) so that it will fall in alphabetically with the other Nintendo platforms it can't pull info from EmuMovies (example as requested by Jason, above). When I change the name it should still search for metadata, images, etc... as the default name for the platform.
  11. I think that's what it is... it's not a very good system because a person has to remember all the stuff they have changed, down to the individual game settings to be able to make global changes, and it's more time consuming. The global settings really should override all the other categories, etc... Anyway, thanks for the help in figuring that out. At least I know what to do, I think.
  12. Well, I'm changing the global settings... Options>Default Game Options. I'm wondering if it's not changing games because I have previously changed vertical and horizontal settings, like you described?
  13. For instance, I just changed my hlsl to OpenGL and glsl shaders in the default options... then I am finding a bunch of games that did not change (I also have a dual monitor setup with one vertical). So, I am having to go through and change the same options for a bunch of individual games.
  14. DOS76 another question along these lines maybe you can help me with... if I change the default options it often doesn't change many of the games individual settings. Is there any way to get the default options to override everything else?
  15. Yeah, when I checked it earlier after reading your post it was, indeed, set to zero, so I changed it.
  16. I had mentioned this request in some other thread... there are a couple platforms I like to rename but it causes problems.
  17. I just changed it after reading your post but if I don't have any more problems I'll let you know.
  18. Thanks for the tip. I have the same problem sometimes.
  19. Antropus said For this first pre-release version, you will get *most* controls, but not all of them, as some filters are still missing as I research. In future versions you will be able to get almost everything listed. -Kris I'll be super happy just to get my arcade games up and running in LB, but I think it's great, also, that you are doing all this extra research to get things as accurate as possible!
  20. I'm pretty excited about it. :)
  21. I guess the same would apply if you wanted to filter all clones, but you wanted to keep Midway Pac-Man or maybe a couple other important clones.
  22. That would be great... I was wondering if it would be able to do something like that. Also, would be cool if you could pick a combination of systems, or favorites folders, or whatever groups you want and combine them under one platform (called "arcade" or whatever)... that way you could custom pick your arcade platform (instead of having many platforms) (maybe this is already possible and I just missed it).
  23. I finally tried this with a Turbografx CD game and it even used the .srm (save) file inside the .rar. I'm assuming it won't write to the .rar file to update the save game, but I can always change save directories. *edit* I guess the main addition that would be nice is if Launchbox recognized that your .cue file was in the .rar file so you don't have to edit all the games in your collection to new .rar files. In other words my Dracula X.cue is now in Dracula X.rar (or whatever name) so Launchbox looks in Dracula X.rar to find the .cue file instead of having to edit every single game that you are changing to an archive. Maybe there's already a way to do this and I'm missing it.
  24. Will the archive opening feature work if the game files are in a directory within the archive (for example the .bin and .cue in a folder zipped)?
  25. Does ScummVM have any advantages over Dosbox, or run any games that it doesn't? Just curious.
