First we should eliminate variables. Launch a game from regular mame, note the core (and version and config file used) then launch from cps2 and do the same. Did you set up cps2 as a seperate system in launchbox? Are the settings the same?

And this only happens on 2 and 3... are you using the same ra config?

Yes. I think launchbox is mostly cpu driven, and we have the same one.

Yes, the images will still be there and will display.

If you have to improve performance* yes. There are a bunch of tricks. But your computer is just about the same as mine, so I doubt you'll have to.

I noticed a performance boost putting Launchbox on a solid state, but there isn't much you can do with 30 - 40 gigs. Ultimately, this is going to depend on how much stuff you're intending to put into Launchbox. If you're the type of person who has small lists of games you play and only import a few per system, go the SSD route. If you're full list on everything, definitely use the HDD. I have nothing but LaunchBox and Artwork on a 500 gig SSD and I only have about 100 gigs left. You could attempt to save some space by not downloading videos or manuals, but it sounds like you should probably just use the HDD. The performance isn't bad and there are entire threads on how to speed it up.

Wait, I mean delete your games in launchbox and reimport****

Alternately you can delete your roms, then reimport from new locations. Just import with none of the art stuff checked and it'll all be there.

In terms of value I would have to say it would probably be one of my presidential autographs or J. Edgar Hoover. I have Jimmy Carter,Bill Clinton,Donald Trump,George W. Bush,Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon autographs. I am not saying I am a fan or not of any of them or really collect for value as I am just a collector of autographs. Also I just happen to be at the right place at the right time to obtain them.
You didn't have to clarify. I have a lot of video games I'm not a fan of. Haha

How do you import the new games? Just reimport the whole set... or manually?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk -
Yeah the only thing I can think of is if they add new games to set, which I don't think happens often, if ever, you might have to import those. Other than that, just make sure you're not changing the path to the roms, update the mame exe and launchbox is hands free.

I'm using it with no problems.

Are you using mame software list roms? If not, try unzipping them. Also make sure you have the bios in your mame roms folder

Alternately, you could use the bsnes core in retroarch, which will launch fullscreen.

I haven't used Higan in a long long time but are you sure there isn't an option in the emulator to open fullscreen? This seems like an unnecessary workaround

Um, in the bigbox settings menu you can exit or switch to launchbox. Just navigate to it. As for launchbox, I don't think so but you could automate it with xpadder or something.

The article said controller support is kinda limited to games that supported controllers back in the day.

Recommendation is to use no intro where available, then I think tosec for computer systems, and redump or dark water for disc systems.

There is no "incorrect" naming per say. The people who rip roms, good sets, tosec, no intro etc use their own naming conventions and for different reasons. Most everyone will use a region tag of some kind, to let you know if the language of the rip is japanese, European etc. No intro sets are lauded as the cleanest, because they have a simple naming convention and only include one rom in their set. Tosec includes other information like release year, but also includes multiple rips (versions) of each rom for posterity. Launchbox autosorts by platform, and has an xml lost to store relevant data, like region and year, so launchbox doesn't need any of that info in the title of a game. Hence Launchbox should be using just the game name itself.

@Crush you're a genius. Worked like a charm.Make sure that in retroarch-core-options.cfg you have these settings:
vice_Statusbar = "disabled"
vice_Drive8Type = "1541"
vice_DriveTrueEmulation = "enabled"
vice_RetroJoy = "disabled"
vice_Controller = "keyboard"

This is going to be really dumb, but I don't know anything about GIT and I'm having trouble downloading those files for the "data" folder. Any suggestions?
Update: If you're having the same issue, you can go to this website: https://minhaskamal.github.io/DownGit/#/home
Input the address for the data folder, should be: https://github.com/libretro/vice-libretro/tree/4ef3e4f6b4b9f52b15444f7e4cd53e93c73c948e/vice/data
And click download. This can take a minute, but it will download a zip of the data folder.
However, even with this in place, I can't personally get the core to work properly. It'll load up the core, but it give an error Cannot locate Device* and not load the game. May you have better luck.

I get it.. the fresh start thing. Especially if you're not using retroarch... it's a whole lot of emulators to keep track of... what version of this etc. I'd start with RetroArch. Get it running via rl or launchbox, whichever way you want to go, and start importing.

If I'm right there isn't much you can do except maybe use FatMatch to rename the logos. If they are no intro the art will still work in launchbox

I mean launch a game through the launchbox system "mame" or arcade if that's what you called it, and then through the launchbox system cps2.
