  1. I know some of you have been waiting for these for awhile and due to real life circumstances, I've had to put them on hiatus. However, I'm now back in the swing of things and wanted to see if recorded HyperSpin themes are still of interest to anyone? With all the new cinematic 16:9 themes being made, I'm not sure how much interest still remains for these old 4:3 themes but I personally prefer these for representing my old console systems in BigBox and leave the widescreen themes to the newer consoles (PSP, Wii, etc).

Either way, I still feel these old themes should be preserved so I'm going to continue recording all I can with N64 being the latest set I tackle. I'm hoping to have these done within the next few weeks and ready for @circo to add to the EmuMovies FTP. I'll update back when they're released. I'll also be adding some new themes to the previously released sets (NES, SNES, Genesis, etc). Hopefully the community will make use of them... Stay tuned :)

@Riffman81 Much appreciated for the templates. I have mild photoshop skills so the CD cover overlay will go a long way on making it easier on me. I cannot thank you enough for these and the video snaps as well! :D

No need to thank me! I'm just glad people can make use of the covers and videos for their collections :)

If anyone happens to make any covers for hacks of MSU1 games (Hyper Street Kart, LOZ: Parallel Worlds, etc) feel free to post them here in the thread and I'll add them to the set with credit given if any of you want to contribute. I'd like to do Disc art for these games next so stay tuned for that.

@Riffman81 Thanks to you and @Lordmonkus I have about 20 MSU1 games in my new platform. Definitley looking forward to the video snaps. I had not really dug into this stuff before this thread.

If you do not mind sharing the templates I would love them. I had to mock up a couple for a few games I added outside of what you had in your original file set. I only made the standard box art since it was simplest to modify.

Video Snaps are now uploaded to my folder on the EmuMovies FTP: Upload Here>Video Snap Submissions>Riffman81>Nintendo SNES (MSU1). 40 total and all other artwork is there as well. I couldn't get Secret of Evermore working properly and the download I had for it was missing quite a few tracks/.pcm files so I'm going to wait for a final release and I'll update the snaps. Box art and logos for that game are there though. Keep in mind I didn't bother with hacks, just the original releases. I may get to doing covers/videos for hacks at a later date but real life and work are taking up so much of my time right now that it's become difficult to find the time to get things done. I still have several other projects on hold due to having very little time :( I may upload the snaps here as well but if you have FTP access feel free to go ahead and grab them. I messaged Circo about giving MSU1 it's own category separate from standard SNES games so we'll see what happens.

@Retro808 templates I uses for this set are below. You'll have to resize them to match the covers already made after you make your covers and finalize.

  4. Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. Busy dealing with RL stuff but wanted to post and let you guys know I'll be uploading the video snaps to the EmuMovies FTP and probably here as well tomorrow. Finishing them up now :)

Super Metroid Project Base http://begrimed.com/pb.php has been MSU'd now and would be nice to have a box art for it.

Hadn't planned on doing hacks but I suppose I could whip something up since technically all MSU1 games are "hacks"

I had originally planned to just stick to the core games/official releases as some of these hacks may be a bit difficult to find art for... will look into it or if someone wants my template they are more then welcome to make their own covers for these games.

If you want a list of games to try and get a head start on some they have a wishlist with prioritized games to be worked on over on the Zeldix website.

    https://www.zeldix.net/t844-msu-1-wishlist

Looks like some cool games are on the list like Illusion of Gaia and Secret of Mana 2.

Thanks! I've been working long hours at work and finally getting time to catch up on posts. Working on video snaps for these and I hope to have them finished up early next week. If anything new gets released post to let me know. I might be MIA all weekend due to RL and work :(

Secret of Evermore is now done and the patch + pcms have been uploaded but not the full package yet.

Ok, I'll be making a cover for that one next :) Started doing proper video snaps for these today and I think I just might include them in the download package here upon next update. Here is Contra III and Death and Return of Superman. They will be included in the next update as well but you can grab them from here if needed as the next update wont be ready for a few days.

From what I saw on the link above it looks like Secret of Evermore shouldn't be too far away.

I'll probably make a cover and throw it in next update @lordmonkus.

Ok everyone, the next update will be more polished so anyone who downloaded the previous packs will want to delete those and grab the new ones (once uploaded) as I've changed my design slightly... again :) The pack will have your standard 2D covers and (what I like to call)  "retail" versions which can be seen below. I will also include clear logos and still snaps as well. I don't plan on doing covers for hacks but rather just the core/original games as to keep this set more consistent. An example of this would be Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, I'll be sticking to the original game and not Parallel Worlds, DX, Goddess, etc... even though MSU1 versions do exist for those hacks. I may include a template for others to make covers for those if desired but as of now, I have no plans to spend any time on those hunting art, etc. I want to tackle the video snaps for these ASAP.

Death and Return of Superman has been released, yeah it's an odd choice but it's done. Super Ghouls N Ghosts got 2 releases now, one is an OST and it sounds amazing. Contra III has been done as well but uploaded pre patched yet. Secret of Evermore is a WIP, not sure when we will be seeing it.

Thanks, I'll look for Death and Return of Superman tonight and see about getting Contra III. Alternate releases/variants I'm not concerned with as I just use the same cover for variants and typically I just get the version with the OST I like the best. WIP's I wont be doing covers for until I see a actual release. I've been waiting for Secret of Evermore :) Thanks for the update @lordmonkus

That's great news your doing the video snaps aswell @Riffman81, thanks for your work on this it is greatly appreciated :D

Yes sir! I'll be doing proper video snaps for these as well as box art, still snaps, logos, etc... the goal is to get a complete set of media/art for all of these titles :) after that, I'll be getting back to recording those HyperSpin themes I've been distracted away from.  It's difficult keeping up with those as new themes are made all the time. I'll possibly be doing themes for some of these as well so stay tuned!

  10. Added covers for the following titles:

    Mega Man 7 (USA) (MSU1)

    Super Mario Kart (USA) (MSU1)

I also plan on doing proper video snaps for these games and will upload them to my folder on the EmuMovies FTP and possibly here with this cover pack as well so people can have easy access to them :) I'll let everyone know when they are available.

@Riffman81 do you have a platform logo for the MSU1 Super Nintendo CD you have used in your artwork, cant seem to find a good logo to use :)

I believe @CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT has a platform logo posted with his platform video in the download section. I use the ones below:

  12. I'm going to go ahead and make this the official thread for this set as it will be updated often. If someone has all of the MSU-1 releases could you please list the ones that we still need cover art for? I've been having trouble finding the music files for some of these, and on TMNT 4 the emulator patch corrupts the ROM and only the SD2SNES patch will run but the volume is extremely loud :( However, if a list can be made of what is still needed, I'll get to making the remaining covers right away! There will be two different versions of these covers to choose from. Your standard 2D and a "cased" 3D-ish variant as pictured:

If only the relationship between Sony and Nintendo had worked out the way we'd hoped, the PlayStation might have been an entirely different beast today. Thanks to the recently discovered "Nintendo PlayStation" console, we can finally have a glimpse of what might have been. In this pack you'll find cover art for the various CD audio games that have been released to date (also known as MSU-1 titles). I've only made covers for the titles I could get working properly within RetroArch so expect a few to be missing if you're using a different emulator. However, I do plan on making covers for those titles as well as disc art for this pack so expect updates in the future. If your game isn't in this initial releae, drop a message requesting it and I'll do my best to make a proper cover for it.

In the archive you'll find 2D covers as well as alternate "3D-ish" cased covers. Use whichever you prefer and enjoy!

NOTE: This pack was made to compliment the MSU-1 Platform video made by @CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT and that can be found right in the link below:

  16. FYI

I Stumbled on a really cool fan-Made game today. Mega Maker

Is basically a Mega Man version of Super Mario Maker for pc and it's free.

Just thought my fellow hacks and fan-made fans would be interested [emoji3]

Yes! Been watching this for awhile and glad to see it's finally available! Just wish I had more time to play games. I'll do my best and try to get something done for Sonic Time Twisted hopefully this week. My free time is severely limited at the moment :(

Thanks for these! I was just checking Hyperspin's theme page there are so many amazing ones I'd love to see especially for Windows. Is there any way I can help or are these hard to capture?

Capturing, at least the process I use is a bit tedious to setup and get going. I use a bunch of scripts to kind of make the whole process a bit easier but I have been toying with a simpler process. My biggest problem at the moment is time. Between work, taking care of a newborn,  three teenagers, and family time, it's been difficult to find the time to get them done, but I will keep recording them. It would be nice to have help though... The Windows set is quite large I'm not even sure video snaps have been made for all the games that currently have themes.
