Yeah, definitely! I don't need credit, though; mostly just cutting and tweaking things that already exist, but that would be awesome if you used those logos for a theme video.
Definitely plan to continue contributing things. Lots of great user-made stuff out there and not all of it is for "advanced" players that want to torture themselves, so I hope people will start to come around to it more. As soon as I get the time to invest, I'm going to start teaching myself some video-editing and hopefully be able to help out with videos too.
Anyway, don't go over-board or anything, but I look forward to what you put up next.
Got a lot in the works... it's just finding the time to get it all finished up. But yeah, more content will definitely be coming! To me, and I believe I've said this before, ROM hacks and fan-made games help keep things fresh. I'm only interested in good quality, polished, and not over challenging mods. There are 500 Mega Man 2 and Mario 3 hacks out there and a good 90% of them are crap! I've never been one for "challenge hacks". Sure, I like a good challenge but throwing a crap ton of spikes in every level or a million pit falls and bad enemy placement isn't my cup of tea. It really does take time to sift through all of these and determine which ones are gold, and which ones are just nonsenseI've done a few ROM hacks myself over the years and although I'm no expert, I believe people want to enjoy what they're playing and not end up throwing the controller at the television. I made a Mega Man 2 hack a few years ago where Proto Man is the playable character. It's mostly just a graphics hack for now, plan on doing new levels at some point but it's cool for what it is. I haven't hacked in a long time, might be something to get back into at some point.

I made some updates myself for the box art and logos I've uploaded previously. New version with Super Metroid Phazon and others is here:
Awesome job my friend! Would you mind if I used the Super Metroid Eris and Phazon logos for a media pack and video themes I'm working on for those titles? I'll be sure to give you credit. I plan on starting a separate thread for this stuff and hope you'll continue to contributeI've also got a few things I've previously uploaded that I'll be updating as well. I've got a busy weekend ahead of me pulling double shifts at work but I should still find time to upload some more goodies.
The box art your using for Eris was created by AdvancedPillow over on the Metroid Construction site. It's what I'm using as well and he said I could use it as long as I note that he made it so I plan on crediting him for that when I upload the media pack. I have a physical cart for that game as well with that actual box! It was really well done and only a handful were made. Phazon and Redesign are also in the works as well as Ice Metal. I have everything done for them except themes. I don't plan to do a theme for every hack out there but those are really good mods and deserve to be showcased.

I think this is a great idea @Riffman81 and is a area that does need some attention as trying to find all the media for these games are hard work, I am trying to learn how to do stuff like this and I am only a beginner at the moment but will be happy to help as I get better in the future
In regards to this thread I think we are in desperate need of a platform video for Rom Hacks & Fan-Made as there is nothing out there at all at the moment, fingers crossed one of our skilled artists can do one soon
Has the platform video idea been mentioned at all to @BakerMan or @Nyny77? I'd love to do one but in all seriousness I have bit off more then I can chew at the moment with work I'm doing with EmuMovies, HyperSpin theme videos, and trying to keep up on ROM hacks, and not to mention real-life things as I'm about to be a father again for the 5th time. Also, I'm afraid I couldn't do as good a job as those guys could do as I don't have the Adobe programs they use to make those cinematic videos
With that being said, the media pack for Metroid - Rogue Dawn is uploaded! Enjoy

Should have this one finished up sometime tomorrow along with Zelda: Goddess of Wisdom. With Rogue Dawn, I'll be doing two sets of box art. The alternate set will be a throwback to the original silver 1st release of the original Metroid. Thinking of starting a new thread specifically for ROM hacks, translations, and other fan-made projects/games that way I'll have a better grasp of what others are playing and what they would like artwork packs for if this is something the community would be interested in? There doesn't seem to be too much interest in the ROM hacking scene or fan-made games and I think one of the reasons for that is because art is scarce and not readily available. I'm hoping to change that by doing what I'm doing. There are lots of hacks being put onto reproduction carts and the art for those will serve as a great starting point to knock more of these out but there are still many great hacks and homebrew/fan-made games out there that need attention. Hopefully I can get others on board who include these games in their setups
I will have to take a slight break on these soon though as I still have many platforms to do still with recording HyperSpin themes, but I will certainly continue making these and uploading them here for all to enjoy.

I just realized that I forgot to add the cart image to this pack so the download section has been updated with that image

I'm really liking the love that the rom hacks are getting at the moment [emoji4]
Keep up the great work @Riffman81 [emoji3]
Any chance of doing a media pack for Streets of Rage Remake please
Thanks! Yes, SORR is on my to do list so it's on the wayDoing Zelda: Goddess of Wisdom next and also still working on recording HyperSpin themes. Don't worry though, there are still a lot of hacks and fan-made PC games out there that I want to give proper treatment to so I'll be busy for quite some time.

Legend of Zelda master quest? It's a harder oot and a rom from preorder of windward
I could probably throw something together for Ocarina of Time Master Quest. Isn't that title already in the HyperList N64 ROM set with art? I was actually referring to Goddess of Wisdom and Parallel Worlds 10th Anniversary Edition on the SNES but I'll look into getting OOT up as well.

I love that you are covering artwork for the good romhacks. Keep it up.
Thanks! I plan to do more as I add them to my own setup. I'm OCD when it come to having proper art for all of my games so when push comes to shove, I'll make it if I can find good, hi-res quality images to work with. Got some Zelda related titles on deck... stay tuned!

HyperSpin's download section has always been kind to me
most of everything I use for my setup has either come from HS or EmuMovies. I believe now EmuMovies and HS essentially share the same server when downloading media through the EmuMovies Sync utility. I also use HyperList ROM sets as they are the "cleanest" in my opinion and have no dupes like the No-Intro sets or hacks and other junk like the "GoodSets" The HyperList sets uses a naming convention based similar to No-Intro but with out all the redundant extra tags like revision numbers (Rev 1) and language tags (En, Fr,) etc. Making for a nice, clean set.
Using HyperList sets, I've found that I get more correct media and hardly have to go looking for things as most of the media uses the HyperList naming convention. I've learned that using sets that follow a different naming schematic that downloaders often miss things and result in me having to hunt for them manually. No-Intro sets are great for someone looking for a truly complete set with all regions and revisions of a ROM, but sometimes the long file names with all the different tags can throw an automatic download off and the end result is missing media. Just take a look at the No-Intro GBA set and you'll see what I mean... the file names are insanely long. HyperList sets in short cut out the majority of clutter while still giving a relatively complete set. I see your mainly referring to Arcade sets/media but just wanted to shed some light on getting media for other platforms as well. MAME stuff is a bit tricky due to the fact that with each new MAME release, ROM sets change and may throw off downloading media as sometimes they change ROM names. Therefore the media isn't going to match the current set, at least not right away. Maintaining media for Arcade sets, especially MAME is an ongoing process. Hope I've been of some help to you.

Awesome, I'm currently playing this game.
Thanks! Glad you like it. I haven't had a chance to play much of it yet, truthfully I just played enough to capture segments for the video. I just finished Super Metroid: Eris and really enjoyed it. I did the box art for Eris as well as Super Metroid: Ice Metal Uninstall. I'm probably going to do themes for both of those as well so if you haven't played them, do check them out. Eris is actually my favorite hack so far and worth your time.

Excuse the double post, I just updated the Legend of Link (NES) media pack to include the Video Theme for anyone who has that hack in their collection. It's in my files in the DL section.

Yeah, surprisingly (to me) it doesn't seem to be a super popular category, but I will definitely appreciate getting more (better) media to make it look spiffy. I already downloaded the themes you did for SNES from EmuMovies FTP, so look forward to whatever you put out next!
I've always been a fan of the ROM hacking scene. Worked on a few hacks myself back in the day (as well as beta testing quite a lot of them) and to me, hacks/mods help give new, fresh experiences for older games and consoles so I'm definitely a fan of anything that helps keep those older platforms alive and kicking! Working on finishing up themes for NES and them I'll be moving on to N64, Genesis, etc.

I just downloaded Hyper Metroid and the theme video you did for Mega Man Universe. Great job on these man! And much appreciated!
Thanks! Going to be working on the Castlevania and Zelda games here soon so be on the lookout for those. Will also be doing some more NES hacks while working on recording HyperSpin game themes. Recording these themes are my main focus at the moment but I will be giving ROM hacks/mods and fan-made PC titles some love as well! Glad to see they will be used

This isn't every hack or fan-made I have, but I think it covers some of the more well know ones, so I'm going to list (from the games I have):
Kaizo Mario World (hack)
Kaizo Mario Bros. 3 (hack)
AM2R: Return of Samus (fan-made)
Castlevania II: Simons Quest Revamped (fan-made)
Castlevania: Chorus of Mysteries (hack)
Brutal Doom (technically a Doom Mod, but I still count it in my category)
Final Fantasy Tactics: Journey of the Five (hack)
Hyper Metroid (hack)
Metroid Super Zero Mission (hack)
Super Metroid Redesign (hack)
Paper Mario 3D Land (fan-made)
The Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds Remodel (hack)
The Legend of Zelda: Goddess of Wisdom (hack)
Mega Man Unlimited (fan-made)
Mortal Kombat: Outworld Assassins (technically an OpenBOR game, but I count it too)
The Legend of Princess (fan-made)
Black Mesa (technically a Half-Life 2 Mod and can be purchased through Steam now, too, but still started as a fan-made re-make of the original Half-Life... so counts times 3 to me!)
The Legend of Zelda: Outlands (hack)
I'm also going to toss in:
Nightmare Busters (previously unreleased for the SNES)
Star Fox 2 (previously unreleased for the SNES)
The Legend Of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets (released as an episodic, weekly downloadable game for the Satellaview for the Super Famicom)
I have mocked up box art and clear logos for just about every game above and will be making logos for the few that don't have anything and I can help with recording gameplay for some these too. Just let me know how you would like to coordinate it and maybe we can get enough stuff together to spur some interest in someone making a platform video.
I just released a media pack for Hyper Metroid if anyone is interested in using it. Plan on doing more of these soon if there is any interest. Done a few already that can be found in the downloads.

A Background Video for Rom Hacks?
in Game Media
Posted
Agreed! AM2R and Hyper Metroid are awesome! I own Hyper on cart as well. I thought Mega Man Unlimited was really good, hard, but good. Once I start a new thread, I'll post everything that is available so far and what I'm working on. Maybe others will chime in with what they're playing or interested in playing and I'm sure between us that are interested, we can get the core media available for those games. I have a friend who makes reproduction NES, SNES, and Genesis carts so I'm always doing labels and box art for him. So anything I do for him I might release here as well. Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes is one I already made art for and just need to do a game play video. There are many others as well. So plenty is on the way
