  1. That error is due to a 32 bit program being run on a 64 bit OS. Null DC will run on 64 bit OS, but you need to install the 32 bit requirements alongside the 64 bit one. C++ is the most likely culprit in this case, grab it here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328&ranMID=24542&ranEAID=TnL5HPStwNw&ranSiteID=TnL5HPStwNw-kaHwS6sv1bJgO7v6TeFpUg&tduid=(6d3bac2d44ed543946455b35ce42ee18)(256380)(2459594)(TnL5HPStwNw-kaHwS6sv1bJgO7v6TeFpUg)() Edit: And to confirm, NullDC works just fine for LB as well. I've used it for the whopping 4 games in my library in the past without issue.
  2. If you are seeing small text, you should adjust the text in Windows. And yes, higher resolution will do that as well. I'm not sure why I would need 4k res on my laptop if it has a 15 inch screen, I just use my 1080p and my Asus has a 17.3 wide screen. But those issues don't sound like faults with the laptop. If your screen is tearing in a game, turn Vsync on. If it's tearing outside of a game, then that could be an issue, I'd have to have more details. As for the Asus being better, yeah the ROG brand is geared toward gamers. The XPS is a model that can't make up it's mind. The Alienware is geared toward gamers (stupid expensive though compared to most Asus ROG models) As for the systems you mentioned emulating, yeah your 6 year old Sony should be able to handle those easily. Again, my main laptop for emulation is an old Asus G7VW it has an i7-3610qm and a 670mGTX and it plays Cemu and Dolphin upscaled etc. So that is not surprise. I doubt you have any input lag, some of this sounds like buyers remorse and I've been there before. Unless of course you are using a touchpad or something, that may be the case. You really shouldn't rely on those much anyway. As for the comparison, look at some of the Asus notebooks on that list, you could have a better cpu gpu combo for less money. I get that you really wanted a notebook then and there, but in my opinion you rushed this purchase a bit.
  3. I'd take a look at Crush's suggestion. I can also say "Renamer" works fine just don't confuse it with the generic "The Renamer" app as it's really kind of garbage. Lots of ways to skin that particular cat and you don't need to necessarily get into regex hell to do it.
  4. Could you screenshot this? Is the play count right next to the wheel/name like that? Or is it next to the play count field? Unless that is a view option in BB I've never seen that. Edit: Also, do you have other platforms? I ask because I've personally noticed that if I go play a game on a platform, then come back out to the main platform menu, the play count doesn't update until I "Step off" of that platform and come back to it.
  5. @flavad99 I wasn't griping that you opened a new thread, I hope you didn't see it as that. I was just pointing out to Brad that this is starting to look like a legitimate bug of some sort. What fix are you referring to though? Some people are downgrading to previous versions of the front end (which I really can't recommend) some are using 3rd party solutions and some are probably just waiting for a fix haha. Also, since it's in a cabinet (and my gut says this is probably not important) are you using arcade controls as opposed to an Xbox controller or something similar?
  6. @Nedo I'm sure there are a ton of tools out there for managing romsets. I also have some batch files that I've created that helps me manage my roms. Which Atari set did you use? If you don't know that, browse through the roms and share some of the "extra information" that is in the titles. IE: (Proto, RevA, RevB, Hack, etc.)
  7. If someone can give me the latest torrent and get it seeded initially, I'd be happy to throw it on my Seedbox and let it run forever. I have an impressive connection and bandwidth is a non issue.
  8. Actually, this may not have to do with automation at all. @flavad99 are you just hitting the escape key on a keyboard, or is this happening using the Launchbox controller automation? Try as I might (And I'm currently trying a lot) I can't get get the front end to actually crash. Granted the automation isn't closing the emulator for me either.
  9. @SentaiBrad Is there any sort of ticket open for this issue that you know of? I ask because the thread right above this one is essentially the same thing. I noticed this issue myself, however LB/BB doesn't crash for me so much as it just refuses to do anything. A couple of individuals were involved in that thread saying similar things. This is less of an issue for me as I have an existing software workaround, but at this point I'd hate to keep telling everyone who has automation issues to buy controller companion as I'm going to feel like I'm shilling for them lol. Another commonality I see is PCSX2 being involved. Again, I've been using my workaround for a while, but I'm tempted to try to enable automation in this current release and see if I can duplicate the crash. Might be worth taking a look at if there are logs or something we can share.
  10. I didn't make it, I just bought it lol. But yeah, I have to say it's a really useful tool for less than a pint of beer in cost. I love it.
  11. Yeah, that is a good price. Generally you are paying a premium for the mobility and power of a true gaming laptop. I'm excited that non mobile chipsets from Nvidia are becoming available. The notion of a fully fledge 1080 or even 980 in a laptop gives me gaming wood lol. Hell, the new models have water cooling setups and it's just insane. However, at a 3k USD price point, I'll relax until they become more affordable. I'm already accustomed to taking a 1500-2000 hit on the bleeding edge mobile chipsets, so I don't have a need to take out a second mortgage on my home for a laptop lol
  12. I set custom profiles in controller companion. If you open it from the system tray and then navigate to settings > profiles > edit bindings, you can set the controller buttons to do whatever you want. For me, I set it to hold select (which then lets you use your secondary bindings) and then hit the guide button which just sends the "esc" key to whatever app is open on the screen at the time. As for pcsx2, I believe escape is the default to close the app so I didn't have to do anything special there. One thing to note, the controller companion software will generally detect when an application is looking to take "control" of your gamepad and unless you have disabled it, you should hear a chime that indicates that controller companion is active or not (For me it sounds like a usb device connecting or disconnecting). On my setup (which you can change in controller companion) I hold select and hit start to tell controller companion to take "focus" of my gamepad and if I hit it again it tells companion to ignore the controller. This is worth noting because if you open a game in Big Box for example, the emulator has "focus" on your controller. So you just hold select+start to let controller champion take "focus" then you can hit your guide button or whatever you set it to, and that lets you exit the emulator or do whatever you are looking to do. Make sense? Let me know if you have any issues I'm sure I can post a quick vid to explain whatever you need. Edit: That last bit comes in handy btw. So if your analog stick is now acting as if it were a mouse, think of what you can do with emulators of nintendo ds games which touch controls at the bottom screen, or things like Cemu which emulate touch screens
  13. I'm not sure I'd go with a Dell. A quick search for a laptop geared for gaming gave a lot of results. Most Best Buys will not charge you and will order a laptop and get it into inventory. Again, I'm biased as I'm an Asus user, but Sager or Alienware would be your next best bet and frankly, I think Alienware (also owned by Dell) is overpriced and most people would agree. Sager is generally not going to be in any brick and mortar store like Best Buy. For that price range, you can do so much better in a laptop geared toward power users. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?st=Asus+Rog&_dyncharset=UTF-8&id=pcat17071&type=page&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=&sp=&qp=&list=n&af=true&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys Edit: Also, do some research on mobile chipsets. A higher number does not mean that it's more powerful. Nvidia in particular has a ridiculous naming convention for their cards. A 150m may be less powerful than a 100m for example. (Note totally made up model number lol)
  14. Glad to hear it. I'm the idiot that woke up and asked you if you wanted to delay the batch and then turned around and did that anyway happy gaming. If you determine how to bulk change I would share that here as well. I didn't see any obvious solution at a glance and I'd hate to have to do that to every game in a large library. My PS1 library is pretty small so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
  15. @LuismaSP89 see my later replies. I posted a second vid and some details in the second part of this thread. I'm pretty sure I've found the solution.
  16. It's really the end users call I guess. If I used Launchbox for example and someone said to use Hyperspin because it does X out of the box and is specifically good at that thing, I would be frustrated because it assumes that it also does all of the other things that Launchbox does well on top of that one thing. Emulators are no different. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of his emulator but the solution is less "hacky" in my opinion since we are using Launchbox features to automate them and keep them nice and organized. I did recommend RA as something that he look into for future usage though as I imagine he would in this case be happier in the long run. At the very least, it's unlikely that he would have any controller issues that require editing his registry lol. I think the biggest reason that people stick to some of these older emulator solutions is that they view Retroarch as this beast that is too complicated to approach. And if I'm being honest, it was not the easiest thing to get sorted but I'm talking more "Advanced" things like custom overlays, shaders, per core configurations etc. Just getting a PSX game running with great controller support is fairly easy out of the box. At either rate, I'm interested to see if this works for him and it's another thread someone might find useful for a similar issue down the road. Thanks for jumping in. I'm going to get back to my real work now
  17. @LuismaSP89 Whew so this has been a fun exercise for me haha. I've posted a video below that details what I've figured out. I believe that just a minor tweak to your batch file (replacing the deprecated sleep command with a timeout command) and tweaking the additional application dialogue will get you on track. On my setup, this worked in LB and BB and calls my game without issue. I'll note however, that you may very well have to edit each game individually to get that batch working. So while I'm committed to trying to solve your issue, I'm can nearly guarantee you that if you had used Retroarch and a good core, you would be happier with the end result overall. Also, obligatory warning. You are writing to your registry. Make restore points and be safe here. It's the last thing you want to have issues with trust me on that one. I'm excited to see if this works for you, so please let me know once you've tested.
  18. Yep, I figured it out I believe. I'm upping a video for him now. I think just using wait for exit and adding a timeout /t command to his batch will sort his issues. I've tested it with my hello world locally in LB and BB and it's working without issue and calling my game properly etc. I use Retroarch myself, but I don't like to offer a new emulator etc as a solution to people as I always found it a bit frustrating when I myself was looking for a solution and the answer provided was to get a new emulator etc. I agree, that this is far from an ideal setup but if I can fix it with a quick batch edit, and he's happy with the solution I'm good. I think he was on the right path all along, but there is likely a very small timing issue in where the emulator would launch just before the registry would accept the read from the batch. So if the timeout command and wait for exit sorts that out sorts that out, he should be good. I'll wait for his reply and we shall see. Thanks for jumping in, I hate pinging mods but it seemed somewhat related to that bitbucket request.
  19. Ok I think @LuismaSP89 was on the right track. It seems that the very close timing of the regedit and the start of the emulator is the only issue. I've not toyed with additional apps much but I believe that if you just tweak your batch a bit and tick the "wait for exit" box in the additional apps screen, your problem will be solved. So what I've done is that I've created a batch that simply reads "hello world" to the screen and has a pause line that requires you to hit a button to exit. In Launchbox, that batch file is set to run before the Main Application (ePSXe) and is also set to "Wait for exit". In testing, this works fine. So if I were to replace my hello world batch with yours, theoretically the registry could be updated, you could tap a controller key to close the window, or you could simply add a timeout command "timeout /t 10" and that would give the registry enough time to accept the edit before the batch closes and ePSXe opens up. I'll make a quick vid of this later and you should be good to go. On the plus side, I've learned about the additional app feature which I've never really bothered with before.
  20. @Zombeaver Sorry to ping you but I wanted some feedback. First off, I realize that his situation is a one off and it's not ideal that he's editing a registry to enable controller support. I don't like to deviate too often by offering different emulators etc. as a solution though. So I misread this twice like a fool and created an AHK script that delays the launch of the batch file. What it looks like, is that he actually needs to delay the launch of the emulator. I actually found a thread and a bitbucket that is related to it, that you were giving some feedback on. I've posted the bitbucket below which also links to the thread. I believe that if Luis here just points to the batch file as the actual emulator under manage emulators and then creates an additional app line and adds the ePSXe details in, it would solve his issue. It seems very similar to the Daemon tools issue and SSF that the other gentleman was working with you on. Thoughts? If so, I'll make a quick vid for him and he can follow that and be on his way to victory. The alternative is probably me writing more code than the couple of lines I threw out there earlier lol. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/946/implement-delayed-emulator-launch
  21. Sooo I'm an idiot. I just sat here and did exactly what you don't need, I delayed the batch lol. I was thinking about it while showering and had a duh moment. Give me a sec and I'll see if the AHK functionality in LB lets me just reverse the order here and delay the start of the emulator. Sorry for the run around Luis I'm running on little sleep today. Worst case scenario and we can literally just set AHK as the emulator and let the script handle importing the reg file and launching EPSXE for you. YAY CAFFEINE!
  22. Get rid of the quote marks at the bottom WinWaitActive, ePSXe - Enhanced PSX emulatorSleep, 10000Run D:\Luisma\Emuladores\Emuladores PS1\Epsxe\ePSXe\shaders\2D.bat
  23. The batch file shouldn't have anything to do with window size. Open EPSXE by itself and set it to fullscreen and it should remain that way moving forward. You don't want to paste exactly what I've put here, you will need to update the last line to point to your own batch file. Did you do that? Paste a reply with what is in your Autohotkey window please? I'm uploading a vid now for visual reference. @LuismaSP89 see video below. I'll note that the recording software made the emulator look like that, it's actually running fullscreen without issue for me.
  24. Give me a few I'll post a quick video to be safe
  25. @LuismaSP89 So that path is what will need to go at the last line of the AHK script I shared in the post above. Go ahead and remove this as we are going to call the batch from the AHK moving forward. Once you have read that and set it up, test it and let me know how it worked. We can tweak it afterwards if need be. Edt: Just figured out that I needed to set CPU to 1x for this to run so I'm going to test an actual game on my side now with the AHK solution in place. My batch file just shows a hello world but it should suffice as a proof of concept.
