  1. @BigBadJuss are you referring to this screen? the boxes are white with black check marks under the default view, I'm not sure that the color theme is your issue if you can't see these.
  2. Oh man, I'm with you 100% on this one. I love LB as it can be used for an all around front end that controls my media and entertainment as well as my personal game museum, but I've had to make a trade off due to some of the aesthetics and this one drives me insane! I'll throw a vote toward it and hold my breath
  3. There is not an "official" addon that is endorsed by Unbroken Software that I am aware of. The software I linked is user created and shared on this forum. It seems to be based upon the Steam launcher addon for Kodi and is written in Python. I can't tell you which addon you installed though. If that is the addon you are using, I would suggest clicking the support button on that link and asking the contributor if he/she can assist you.
  4. Yep agreed. I can say that I had automation working for exit a few versions back or so. While my LB doesn't crash or freeze, it definitely stopped working in terms of full automation. I just had that workaround available to me already and figured I'd share. I'm seeing a whole hell of a lot of these posts and can't track them to see if they are related or if we have actually identified an issue that is being tracked now or what. But to be fair, I generally am not browsing bitbucket etc. I'm just kind of trolling around in support and noob trying to help where I can lol.
  5. Admittedly, I had to read your issue twice and I misconstrued all of the details. Working around UAC for a specific application is fairly easy using task scheduler and a custom link. However, so that i understand, since you are using Kodi it will only accept an executable when setting the path? Also, is this the addon you are referring to?
  6. I've been seeing similar issues pop up a fair bit lately. My solution is not ideal for some, but I'll post my response to a user the other day with similar issues. I myself have not had any crashing in LB with automation, but even after a new build, automation only works for volume control etc. but exiting programs is not working. I had already spent the 3 dollars on controller companion before this issue (I use it to browse my nintendo power magazines using LB) so I just mapped escape using that and it's a non issue now. Otherwise, I'd browse the other threads and see if a resolution was found or wait for the ticket. Edit: I'm not sure if the LB automation is using AHK or not to be honest, but I would assume that you could save the 3 dollars and go that route but I don't do anything with my controller and AHK directly.
  7. @dmn1981 Which version of Windows are you using sir?
  8. I'm using the TDC13 it's a beautiful project and Hargle and team are actually celebrating 10 years of work on the Total Dos Collection Project, that's some commitment right there!
  9. @Clutz450 I'd suggest scheduling your updates moving forward. I have mine setup to only complete updates etc. during hours in where I'm not likely to be on the machine. Especially if you are using Windows 10, once it decides it's going to update and reboot, there is no stopping it's madness.
  10. @Gangor SentaiBrad and crew have a TON of tutorials on their youtube channel, specifically for setting up emulators etc. with Launchbox. I'd start there, and if you hit a snag, refer to the video you were using and post back on this thread and we can help you out if needed. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSIht6UXIEXIgz4eXAEShxA
  11. So it seems as if Retropie is having issues with a trademark troll. They have posted some detail on their site and there was a post on /r/emulation at Reddit. One of the Mame folks jumped in and apparently they have had this issue as well, and just this year resolved it. It's a costly process no matter how you spin it. I hope Launchbox is sorted, because these people also seem to have Emulation Station in their portfolio. More detail in the Reddit post. https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/5vzqh0/retropie_is_looking_for_some_legal_help/ https://retropie.org.uk/2017/02/legal-help-needed/
  12. @DOS76 it's a figure of speech. Allow me reiterate in a less offensive way. If you were to compare the performance of his integrated HD chipset to his own Nvidia card, or for likely any card in the past 5 years, it would be totally and utterly destroyed in all aspects. The card works great for low gpu usage emulation that rely more on CPU, but the moment he were to put a game that were even remotely modern, he will be sorely disappointed. To give you a comparison here is one of the newer Intel Iris HD gens compared to his Nvidia chipset. I don't even believe that he has that particular Intel chipset in his machine so to even at a best case scenario for Intel, his Nvidia card would eat it for lunch. The Intel cards are not meant to compete with dedicated GPU so I doubt my previous statement offended Intel. Those Intel chips are to save energy and allow the Intel card to run when you are just browsing etc. They are great for a low cost solution to someone not looking for high end gaming who doesn't need CUDA or Phsyx etc. So as a solution to this problem, it's not a solution at all and we can agree it seems on that much at least. http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-970M-vs-Intel-Iris-Pro-HD-6100-Mobile/m17319vsm25925
  13. @Clutz450 I won't lie, I doubted your issue but this is a thing. There is a very informative and pissed off thread that has been running for a long time that I've linked below. In a nutshell, here is what I can ascertain. A. This seems to affect certain mobile chipsets and is predominantly affecting older games (Counter Strike, HL2, Day of Defeat were all named essentially, if the game is DX9 and even 10 t's likely to happen) B. There are a lot of clever people in that thread that have developed workarounds and one has even built some sotware and has a Github that eliminates the issue C. This issue has been around since 2011 https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/903422/geforce-mobile-gpus/diagonal-screen-tearing-issues-on-gtx-860m-870m-960m-965m-970m-980m-/25/ Personally, Id likely keep my machine and run it to HDMI to an external monitor anyway so it would not be a big deal. For you though, take it back if you want to and get a chipset that's higher than the 980m perhaps. At either rate, read through that thread and lets see what options you have.
  14. It's not a good workaround, that internal card is shit. With that being said, you are correct, if there is an issue with the nvidia card, I wouldn't want it. I just have never heard of any major issues with them and have never experienced them myself. Can you share a thread in where this is being discussed by another user? I'd like to research it a bit. I'm nursing a mild hangover this morning so I'm not quite up to speed.
  15. Go to your Nvidia Control Panel and under 3d application settings, enable vsync. Let me know if it happens again.
  16. I take my mlc01, keys.tx and my shader directory and move it to the new Cemu directory. Settings text should not be transferred over. It's a small pain to reconfig your controller, but a best practice to follow.
  17. No worries. I just pinged a mod on this to see if a problem ticket is opened. Maybe we can compile some data from the previous few posts and determine if there is one underlying issue.
  18. Hi Shinzo, I believe this may be a new issue with one of the previous releases. There have been a couple of posts in the past few days in regard to this or similar problem. My automation works, but not for closing applications. My own workaround was to utilize Controller Companion which I detailed out to another user in the link below. With that being said, I'm willing to bet a problem ticket has been opened for this issue, so please don't feel as if you need to go drop 3 bucks and add more software to fix your issue. So consider this an option, else perhaps someone more in the know on this particular issue will chime in. If you do opt to go my route, feel free to chime in and I can help you set it up, it's as easy as it would be in BigBox really and adds some additional functionality to your controller in the long run.
  19. The reality is that the Steam Overlay causes many games that are sold in the Steam storefront to malfunction. I personally have two games that I play to death, and I have to avoid using the overlay for them as it causes one game to black screen or crash and the other causes Steam itself to crash with the game. I mean, if you search for Steam Overlay Crash you'll find a virtual cornucopia of issues ranging from crashes of steam games, other front ends, steams own big picture mode etc. This is likely an issue with due to having another application vying for control of the display and or trying to determine where to send inputs to. I know that @Zombeaver had a thread on the Steam forums in regard to the link and LB/BB but that was back in like 2015, maybe he can shed some light on the issue.
  20. Just a heads up for those of you that emulate the Wii U. Cemu 1.7.2 has been released. You'll find the link and changelog beow. 21. I used OBS linked below. I used to use Dxtory but it gave me issues due to the way that Big Box is presented. Sentaibrad turned me onto it and I believe he uses it for most of his videos. It's also nice as it has mute and dimming audio functions so as you are speaking, you can dim the sound coming from Big Box etc. Make sure you grab Studio and not the legacy version. https://obsproject.com/ Example video that I made just yesterday when helping another user create a script to resolve a controller issue. Believe it or not, the final output was like a 200mb mp4 file! I've had it recording Big Box mode and it recorded my gameplay of some SNES games in RA as well as some Neo Geo MVS stuff. The only hiccup I've seen is actually in this video below, in where ePSXe was playing fullscreen, but it recorded it as a small window. I didn't bother trying to troubleshoot that as I only had ePSXe installed to troubleshoot this particular issue for someone.
  22. I'm with Ruester on being able to edit/change it and being able to have multiple support icons when that is an option. Of course, someone needs to purchase or create the art etc. But I'll admit, this is a clever idea that would be useful. I think of my front end as a hands on museum of sorts and it's nice for users to be able to see which controller to pick up and use when playing with it.
  23. @RetroGaming That first error means you are forcing MSAA through your driver. If you have an Nvidia GPU, go to your Nvidia Control panel and either disable the AA globally or add Dolphin (if it's not there) and disable it just for Dolphin. Try again and report back por favor. In fact, that alone is likely driving all of the subsequent errors. Here is but one thread that describes this from the Dolphin forums. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-problem-with-dolphin-msaa-and-nvidia-driver Edit: By the way, if you are using an Nvidia Card, I would add Dolphin to the application list anyway as you can get some optimization there. Articles on that in the Dolphin forums if you are interested. You can use AA/MSAA but you need to set it through Dolphin and not force it through Nvidia drivers. Easy fix.
  24. Neither one of the cards are likely the cause of any screen tearing. My gut says it's a poor display, display is important in laptops if you are not projecting to a monitor using HDMI. If you are in a game and seeing that, you likely need to just turn Vsync on. That is actually a good thing, because it means your GPU is kicking that games ass. Can also mean the display is not very good. Look up Vsync and you'll have an idea of what that is. The 1070 will definitely destroy that 970m. Also, I'll note that the on sale ROG has a slow hard drive at 5400RPM. However, Hard drives are fairly inexpensive and very easy to upgrade on those laptops. I'd add a second on anyway. I personally use the NAS rated WD Red drives for movies and then a decent WD Black 7200rpm for gaming. You can go SSD if you wish, but I still haven't encountered a situation in where I actually need one of those and they are still more expensive when you factor in cost to performance and storage. The Dell Alienware has an SSD drive and a large Hard drive to compliment it, but I don't see any specs on the hard drive so I can't tell what speed it is etc. You are paying more if you are comparing just those two. I'd probably go with the Alienware in that case if it's within budget. However, I'm betting you can find other models with a 1070, the same CPU and probably at a lower price range. Here is a good site to give you comparisons on hardware. Keep in mind that if there is an "m" for mobile next to the GPU it's important to include that. A 980m for example is nowhere near a 980 desktop GPU. There are laptops that have non mobile chipsets, I believe they start with the 980 and go to the 1080 at this point and they are pricey as all hell right now. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/08/nvidia-pascal-laptop-specs-gtx-1080/ Good article on the emergence of non mobile chipsets hitting the laptop market http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-980M-vs-GeForce-GTX-970M Good site that compares hardware. Remember to watch for mobile chipset versus non mobile branding. Edit: Totally forgot, you can also look into the Razer and MSI brands. I think that ROG and Alienware are the top tier models but that is my opinion.
  25. In terms of price, yeah that is a ridiculous good price. The Dell has a lot of features that are clearly better than the on sale model at the top of the list such as an SSD Hard drive and a 4k display (although I doubt anyone is enjoying a 4k display on a screen that size) On the other hand the video card is a better offering on the ROG. etc. You have to compare the various models and look at the budget and make a choice. I mean, look at this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-128gb-solid-state-drive-metallic/4637108.p?skuId=4637108 Nearly the same specs but at a significantly lower price plus it edges the Dell out in some areas. I think you are paying a lot for that 4k display and it's funny to me personally. I'm not trying to pick a laptop out for you, but to encourage you to research, come back and ask specific questions IE: Does this GPU outperform this one? etc. And you can make an informed decision. Here is another thing, cooling and access. Those ROG notebooks have a one screw plate on the bottom of most and are easy to clean the fan filters, access the ram slot, add extra hard drives etc. Do the Dell models have the same thing? Worth looking into. If you are looking to spend that money, maybe you want an actual gaming model from Dell from the Alienware line as seen below. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?st=Alienware&_dyncharset=UTF-8&id=pcat17071&type=page&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=&sp=&qp=&list=n&af=true&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys I mean, you can spend upwards of 6k on a ROG or as little as less than a thousand and I'm sure the same can be said for Dell's line. The money should be the easy part, I'm just looking for you to take your time and make an informed decision so that you aren't unhappy with something you dropped a lot of money on. Here is one I'm looking at myself for my son, not sure if it's on Best Buy site but they have their own ROG SKU so they likely can stock it. A 980m is not top of the line since we now have non mobile chips in the newest models (which are crazy expensive yet) but it's not going to struggle with anything for a long time. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234184&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Gaming+Laptops-_-N82E16834234184&gclid=CjwKEAiAirXFBRCQyvL279Tnx1ESJAB-G-QvJFT5G08HiR-nfzRa3U9-sA4weKRev_k91Exav0FZ9RoC_dfw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Here is a comparison chart from Asus website it comes in handy as well https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/Notebooks-Products/?_ga=1.173137504.2113363406.1487826851
