Yes. Compressed and working. (See my original post with video example.) Only real difference I see so far is the language translation. -
Compressed dreamcast games not launching prorperly
timekills replied to astoufu's topic in Troubleshooting
@DOS76 @astoufu Astoufu's plugins are the same as mine, including use of DX11old, and it works for me. His parameters fed are the same as mine also (default settings.) Caveat: one minor difference; he has Multi-threaded GD-ROM mode checked. I do not. -

I (Emphasis added by me) This is probably the issue. It likely is decompressing correctly, but not playing it afterward, if you can't even play an uncompressed CDI using Demul launched via LaunchBox. I wonder if the translation is causing an incompatibility somewhere. But...I don't see anything in the settings you posted that would indicate a problem. Does Demul launch at least? And then it gives you an error with the ROM? -

I'll check my Demul settings, I think I only have it to decompress in LaunchBox. It does work for me however. Edit: actually don't know where the decompress ROM setting is in Demul...so I'm not sure if I have it checked or not. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Do you have the setting checked to "Extract ROM archives before running" in the Demul emulator settings for Launchbox? Video example of using compressed ROMs through LaunchBox using Demul as an example. Tools, Manage emulators,Demul (or whichever Dreamcast emulator) then Edit. Bottom right corner is a checkbox for "Extract ROM archives before running". Like thi s -
If interested, I'm testing my live stream out by streaming the attract mode. (I'll update with the video once it's available again now that I'm not streaming anymore.) It's enjoyable just to watch for a while. This way I can test the live stream capacity while I test the attract mode as well P.S. Don't be put off by the Cybercom picture. I also got today's beta, but attract mode still working here. Set at 30 seconds; haven't changed it since yesterday however. Edit 1: It quit playing attract mode after a few minutes and didn't start again. I closed BigBox and reopened it and after 30 seconds Attract Mode started up. I'm timing it now to see if it stops again, and if so, if it restarts on its own or if I have to close BigBox to reset it. Edit 2: It stopped again after 2m:42s but restarted after ~2-3 minutes. So it appears to stop for a while when it tries to change systems, then goes back to the same system. May be an issue with the change system option. Edit 3: Definitely something amiss with the changing platforms. It kicks back out to the platform choice screen, and then sits there for as long as 5-6 minutes before it goes back to the same platform. It will randomly choose games inside that platform, but it never chooses a different platform. Using Metal, so the platform "wheel" is on the right side instead of typical left which may be a problem, but I'm fairly certain it was working yesterday. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

@imdavid555 Does your RocketLauncher.ini file (Rocketlauncher_Directory/Settings/RocketLauncher.ini) have the Exit_Emulator_Key line in it? Mine did not, even after setting the new keypress/controller commands through the RocketLauncherUI program. I thought that might be the problem, but even after manually adding it, still no dice. My settings are virtually the same as yours, except for the buttons I'm pressing. I'll try it with the Start and Select (joy7&joy8) and see if that works. This has devolved into more of a RL issue than a Launchbox issue but I appreciate your assistance.

Sooo...apparently it was RetroArch that was exiting when I pressed Esc. When I configured the "Input Hotkey binds" in RetroArch to add the right stick press (button 9 in RA) as hotkey enabler, and the left stick press (button 8 in RA) as exit, it works - for games launched with RetroArch. So basically the exit key in RocketLauncher isn't doing anything. It is the emulator key that is returning me to the front end. I've attached a screenshot of the RL settings window that I believe is the correct one, with the correct settings.

I'm going to laugh (or cry a little) when I get home if it's that easy. I swear I've tried that before, but must've done something incorrectly. I'm still somewhat curious why the commands from Launchbox work when RL is launched with BigBox but not Launchbox. Obviously BigBox is designed for 10'/controller experience, but I'd assume the commands would be the same, especially as you program them in Launchbox initially. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

It's set to the default ESC key. Without using joytokey or another second party keystroke emulation app, is there a way to set it to multiple controller buttons? The autohotkey macros only allow one controller button push. I've purchased and used the controller to keyboard apps when I used RocketLauncher with Hyperspin and didn't like that they had to be running all the time to work. One of the best features of Launchbox is it's exit works when it's running, and doesn't require a separate app that can interfere with other programs. Note: my setup is duplicated across three PCs so having an app that must run all the time isn't feasible as the PCs aren't dedicated gaming systems. If I'm incorrect in the need to run them in advance for them to work, or there is another way in RL, I'm all ears. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Just for your awareness, RocketLauncher does use "per-core" configs by default. And it reads them from the same directory as RetroArch. HOWEVER... The name of the config is different. RetroArch names the config file by the name of the core. RocketLauncher looks for a config file named after the system. The easiest way to make it work is to make a copy of the per-core config from RetroArch in the same directory/folder, but rename it to the name of the system used by RocketLauncher. I.E. If you are using the Nestopia core in RetroArch, the config file is called nestopia_libretro.cfg. Make a copy of it in the same folder and rename it Nintendo Entertainment System.cfg. Now when you load RetroArch and play an NES game, that config will load. You can even press F1 and see that config is loaded, and save changes directly to it (i.e. change to shader, controller, etc.)

This only works for some emulators and systems. Controller Automation should work with everything as it doesn't use the conventional close methods. If an emulator doesn't support the Escape button, the Controller Automation method can still work. I can't get this to work when using RocketLauncher as the emulator. It works in all other emulators directly, including RetroArch and other platform specific emulators. I.E. I have the "Button 10" as the hold button and "Button 9" as the secondary button to close the window (returning to LaunchBox.) This is the example as shown in the video. If I'm launching a game directly in RetroArch and press down on the two joysticks (Button 10 and Button 9) it will close as expected. If I launch a game through RocketLauncher and using RetroArch then this doesn't work. Any ideas?

custom theme Niglurion's Cleanhardware Custom Theme
timekills replied to kerszr's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
@niglurion Thanks for the clarification.I am using your updated CleanBG, and saw you had already included the hardware image over the background image as the combined, single background image for the folders. I assumed the Imgur files were still linked when @kerszr updated/moved the post location in case some folks wanted to use your background of games with their own hardware image. Thanks for all the work, and your excellent theme!- 3 replies

custom theme Niglurion's Cleanhardware Custom Theme
timekills replied to kerszr's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Is there a way to identify the backgrounds from Imgur? When you download them they come with the cryptic Imgur attached files names (i.e.1 - 3QIdyOW.jpg, 2 - 7VWIstr.jpg, 3 - QL1VPtL.jpg etc.) Some are obvious as they are the game boxes or have an emblem on them. Some have games that were found on multiple platforms, and are the clear logos so I'm not sure what platform they should go to. I'd probably never know I was wrong if I put in the wrong location, but given the amount of work that went in to creating them I have to assume they were originally labeled for the platform they were designed. Thanks!- 3 replies

As an FYI, I recommend the following default command-line parameters in the PPSSPP "Edit Emulator" section Enter the the text in the "Default Command-Line Parameters" box: --escape-exit --fullscreen This automates two functions: 1) The Esc key (whatever you have it mapped to on your controller or the keyboard) returns to LaunchBox automatically rather than going to the PPSSPP menus. 2) Games open in full screen (Yes, you can set full screen in PPSSPP settings, but I prefer to keep it unchecked in settings so if I need to go directly to PPSSPP to make edits it doesn't default to full screen open. Only when I launch a game from LaunchBox.) -TK

Drybonz said Ok, so I deleted everything and started fresh with version .7j, and the filter list was generated first try and export to LB appears to have been flawless, so that is great news. When I change the export box to Maximus Arcade, the Lightspeed.txt is generated, however when I drag it on the Maximus converter box no .lst file is created that I can see. *edit* At a glance, the "all killer" list is looking like a solid place to start for people that just want to set up MAME quickly and play some good games. To clarify - when you say it's working, did you actually try to re-generate the Listxml file from the options tab, or just jump to the Filter button using the default files and have it generate a filtered list and new Listxml file that way? Because it makes a difference in my use. One way works, the other gives me the same error you had initially. Basically, I'm having the same problem you did: when I try to re-generate the Listxml file it replaces the original ListXMLOptimized file with a 1KB file and (very quickly - too quickly, as in not doing anything) creates a 0 KB Listxml file. I can get a filtered list using the stock/default ListXMLOptimized file and not creating an updated Listxml file from the Options page. It is created when I initially hit the filter button. However, presumably this Listxml file won't include the updated info from the .175 versions of Catver, languages, nplayers, and history. Tried running as admin; have plenty of hard drive space. TL;DR - works using default .xml files, but creates bad (0KB) XML files if choosing to create new Listxml file under options.
