  1. I didn't even think of that. That's a great tip and probably a lot easier than what I'm showing here. Thanks! I'm not a big app user, but there are a couple that I like to have handy.
  2. I've seen a few questions asked lately about how to import Windows 10 Apps from the Microsoft Store so I recorded a short tutorial on what you need to do to import them into Launchbox. It's actually quite simple, but finding and gaining access to the apps folder is the hardest part. I've only tested this in Windows 10 but it should work in Windows 8 as well. Below is the code I show in the video to enter into explorer to find the hidden apps folder. There are other ways to gain access to the apps folder, but this way will leave the original system permissions and ownership of the folder intact as intended by Microsoft. Here is the original lifehacker web page I took this information from. %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1} If you wanted to, you could make a shortcut to the apps folder using these instructions. Right click on your Windows 8 or 10 desktop, select "new", then select "Shortcut". Copy and paste the line of text below in the "Type Location of the Item" text field and select "Next". %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1} Type a name for the shortcut and click "Finish". You now should be able to easily enter the Apps folder via this shortcut. Additionally, an easier way to create shortcuts from Apps per @DOS76 "use win+s to pull up the search from there you can type the name of a window 10 app and right click it in search and create a shortcut which is only good for adding games one at a time but an easy method to access the games without any code."
  3. I can understand the enthusiasm. I configure my set up way more than I play any games on it. I need to join Emulator-aholics anonymous or something, LOL. Tinker, tinker, tinker. Get ALL THE THINGS working on my cabinet!
  4. Neat idea. I wish I could remote from work. LOL - Hell I don't get enough done as it is with Facebook, I can imagine the work I would miss if I could play with Launchbox all day.
  5. Thanks for the vote but maybe you mis-understand what the ticket is for. When you are in Bigbox in the top level Platforms menu scrolling past Arcade, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo - all the platforms and you come to your PLEX or Jukebox or KODI platform, instead of clicking one of those and going into a submenu with repeating PLEX wheel art, it simply launches right into PLEX or Jukebox eliminating the need at all for the sub-menu. I don't want the Jukebox app to be in an apps platform. I just want to launch it straight from the top level wheel. Does that make sense? I think if it gets implemented, people will use it, they just don't know they need it yet. I didn't do a very good job explaining it in the ticket. Here is a video that has my custom PLEX Media BTW. I don't show it in the video, but when I select PLEX, I'm offered another submenu with the word PLEX repeating on the wheel like yours does in your video. You can launch Metro Apps too BTW. I have a few set up on my system. Can't remember off the top of my head how I did it but if you google Windows 10 Apps location or something like that, you can find the hidden folder with the apps in it. I can't remember if I added the app directly or if I had to create a shortcut to it. Maybe I should make a tutorial on it. Hmmm... Edit: Saw your edit right after I posted this. I haven't messed with remotes since I'm using this mostly on a cabinet.
  6. For anyone interested in doing this, please vote on this ticket. It is to allow launching an application such as a Jukebox program, KODI, or PLEX, from the main wheel. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/1521/ability-to-launch-a-program-or-game-from
  7. ..... Jukebox, Zaccaria Pinball, etc, etc.... @angelobodetti Go vote for this ticket I created a while back to have apps load from the top level wheel in BigBox. I pester @Jason Carr about this all the time. I think it needs more votes to get his attention or someone needs to write a plugin. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/1521/ability-to-launch-a-program-or-game-from
  8. Nice set up. I use PLEX also. For the countless wheels in the sub menus, see this ticket I opened to have programs load from the top level in BigBox. I endlessly hound @Jason Carr about this, but until he sees that more people want it, I doubt it will be implemented any time soon. As of today, it has 17 votes which places it in the top page of requests if you sort by number of votes. I think the more votes it has, the more likely it will see the light of day. Maybe a plugin can take care of this? https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/1521/ability-to-launch-a-program-or-game-from
  9. After further contemplation, I bet it would be difficult to impossible for them to implement this. They would need a way to discern what is in a Playlist and ignore any games in Platforms that are in Playlists. I wouldn't count on this getting much attention. In the short term, I would think you would be better off creating custom platforms if you really need the separation of systems that bad. Not worth the trouble in my opinion, but then again I think the Custom Playlists are mostly fluff anyways. Just my opinion though. Not saying they are wrong, just more than I care about seeing on my cabinet.
  10. You know, I'm not really sure. I haven't gone that far down the RocketLauncher rabbit hole. If I were to guess, I would think you'll need to make custom platforms for those for those and abandon thinking the new playlists will work with it. If I were you I would post over at the RocketLauncher forum and see if there is a way they can enable parsing the new Launchbox playlist XMLs. Playlists after all are a new thing on the emulation scene. I doubt they have taken them into consideration at this point. But maybe someone that knows better has some ideas. I'd love to hear about them or to know what the Rocketlauncher folks have to say about it.
  11. I can verify this is what I did when I set mine up a while back. Nice tutorial. Good to see other fellow pinball enthusiasts on here.
  12. I've updated and replaced the video in the first post. Apparently I had a few things wrong in the video and I wanted to make it right. I took a large chunk of my day to work on this so if you have been helped by me in the past or you're checking this out for the first time, please let me know if this has been helpful or if you have questions on implementing ScummVM with RocketLauncher. Thanks.
  13. Well I did say it was a question for @Vlansix or @Jason Carr but since youy responded.... No offense Brad, but the focus should be on getting an accurate scrape, not some "not many people even utilize LB and Pinball" excuse. I hear tones of you aggreeing with me in your statement above but in the end you basically are just saying !#@ it, just scrape it as pinball. It really rubs me the wrong way when I hear stuff like this. The systems are different and important to those of us that do use them. I do have my pinball platforms separated because I want them that way and media added to them manually out of necessity. I think I know what I'm talking about when I say the systems should be seperate, at least when being scraped. After they are scraped I don't care how they are separated (or not) in Launchbox. You guys that don't play pinball just see this as a bunch of pinball tables, just lump them all together. That's fine, but the systems are different and should be scraped as such. I liken it to scraping for a Sonic the Hedgehog game in Game Gear and getting the Genesis version images. They are different! I think saying !@$# it, just lump everything together is pretty narrow minded in the grand scheme of things. Customers want choices, not to be boxed in to a single way to do things because anything else is hard to implement or not enough people use it. Lame.
  14. Unless I'm mistaken, Visual Pinball should work without the need for a special loader. I'm not real sure though because I am using Rocketlauncher to load mine currently. Have you tried to set up VP? Are you getting a particular error?
  15. This is a question for @Vlansix or @Jason Carr. I see what use to be Visual Pinball in the database is now just called Pinball. Shouldn't the various Pinball Platforms be separate? For example, Funhouse exists in both Visual Pinball and Future Pinball and I know that while they are similar, screenshots and stuff will be different. There are many, many tables that are in both platforms that share the same names but I think the art would differ. At the most I figure there would only need to be 3 or 4 different platforms but at the very least I think the two main platforms should be separate. If the answer is that you want recreations of original tables only, what happens when someone loads original tables that never had a company behind it such as Williams, Midway, Data East, etc? In my opinion, these tables should probably at least have a way of notating who the table author is. I know everyone is busy with other stuff but I hope that the various Pinball platforms get some attention before people start mass importing tables and filling the database with useless entries. Thanks for your consideration. I did open a ticket a while back for more table specific entries to be included if anyone is interested. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/2287/request-for-additional-fields-for-pinball
  16. Hopefully I will be able to create a new video tutorial emphasizing the correct way to set this up, maybe this weekend. In the mean time I am working on a written tutorial for setting up ScummVM and Rocketlauncher via various methods. Here is the link to the document so far. If anyone knowledgeable about the process could take a look and provide feedback, I would appreciate it. There are no pictures just yet but I have gone into great detail on how to set it up. Be gentle as I am strictly going from memory as I write this from work and have no real way to test as I write it. I intend to add a lot more details as I continue to refine this document to make it about as accurate as I am able. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rNSJy-l-obKDwKF--mhaQKWrvLZs_XHS5YQxKYYRMbs/edit?usp=sharing
  17. It would be sweet if that said Media...
  18. Thanks. Sorry so late to respond, I've been off the grid for the last week or so. If you go to my Youtube page the above video is hosted on, I have a link to the arcade version in the description.
  19. Sorry man. I've been off the grid for the last week or so and just now seeing this. I don't use Retroarch for any arcade games so I'm not sure how Rocketlauncher handles that system.
  20. Good to know. Thanks @angelobodetti. I'll probably mess around and see if I can reproduce the results so I can create a new tutorial. It might be a few weeks away however unless I can find some free time during the week this week as I am going on an extended backpacking trip next week and will be off the grid for a bit. Thanks for persisting and letting us know what you did to get this going. I had no idea my instructions were off as no one told me until now. I'll update the original post to reflect the problems with the tutorial.
  21. I think you might be able to delete the 7s after you import them into Launchbox. Treat them like dummy files. Just to be safe though, just try moving them so Launchbox can't see them. Make sure the games will still launch without them being there. If it doesn't work, Launchbox might need something to be their as a placeholder in which case we'll need to figure something out something else.
  22. I would still scan the zipped ones to create the xml in Launchbox for Rocketlauncher to use. The ScummVM exe will need to be able to see the folders to create its ini file. I'll try to do an updated video with the corrected method soon.
